The Dark Knight Rises The Official Character Costuming Thread...

I've thought of a way Riddler can wear the skin-tight body stocking and domino mask without losing credibility.

He wears it to intimidate people he's captured, a bit like the killer from Red Dragon. He's got them tied to a chair or something and makes them bask in his glory while he explains how his clever plot will destroy Gotham or whatever..... (I'm not much of a writer)

I imagine the suit being like long-johns/thermal underwear dyed green by the Riddler, he could also wear a bowler hat sprayed green and stencil spray the question marks himself. The domino mask could just be a strip of purple fabric with eye-holes cut out - none of it tailor made or fitted like Jim Carrey's suit. the more scruffy and hand made the better.

Green is the colour of inteligence and envy, something the riddler would want to put across in his costume, and he would be easily spotted if he wore it out, but for private intimidation, plotting etc... I could imagine he would get his kicks by putting the "costume" on.

I couild also see him sending riddle videos to the police while dressed up - face and voice distorted, just to let them know he means business. Even better if the respectable Edward Nashton is working for them at the same time.

I pictured her actually wearing what Maggie Gyllenhaal wore in the interrogation scene with Lau... A kind of nice suit, with a green vest, maybe green pants. I'd make her some sort of higher-up in the city- which would explain her suit- but she's a bio-terrorist that's destroying Gotham.

To be honest, I can't think of much to make Ivy as epic of a villain in as epic of a movie as TDK was... It'd be hard, I think.
Yeah, thats what I was thinking aswell.

Penguin, black tuxedo and bow tie, with a monocle...done... top hat at high class parties.

I'd give Riddler a forest green blazer, black lacks, shirt, purple tie and a black question mark lapel pin...maybe a bowler hat can be shown just for the fun of it (like "incredible hulk's" purple stretch pants) I don't see ehy he would have to wear a black suit...didn't they already do that black suit with Scarecrow?

And speaking of Scarecrow, can we atleast throw some patches on that suit?

I think Scarecrow was wearing a Navy Blue suit in TDK with a brown dress shirt.

idk about a brown shirt but it was anavy blue siut, hence the coloring of the mm scarecrow

Looks like a light brown/khaki coloured shirt, dark brown or black tie. You can even see the shirt's not tucked in.

okay last act of definace of the great me! its dirty

I know I shouldn't bother with refuting... but I just can't help it!

Last great act of... well, I'm right.

In Exhibit A, a screen cap from the film, one can "clearly" see that the shirt is a colour that is in fact, related to the colour, brown. The image has been brightened up to reveal that is in fact, brown-ish.

Exhibit B, you can see the shirt in even more detail, as it is of a higher resolution, and brightened. One should note the black pinstripes over the brown shirt (very nice looking shirt, if I do say so myself), and you can even see that the tie is not black or brown, but is in fact some sort of burgandy colour.

So, as you can clearly see... it's a brown shirt.

Wow, I wasted so much time to prove that it's a brown shirt. I feel terrible.

I have a question:

Do you think Black Mask's mask should cover just the front of his face or cover his whole head?
I think it should be a skull mask that covers his whole head? What about you?

The whole head. And I don't think that it should be a skull mask. I know that he's been drawn like that for years, but to be honest, I don't like it. Is he the Black Skull version of Red Skull or what? Not to mention that we don't need another hideously scarred and disfigured villain (and let's not start with the topic that Two-Face basically had a half black skull) after the Joker and Two-Face in TDK.
I'd suggest to give him a leather mask, BDSM type, that covers his whole head, leaving only slits for the eyes and the mouth. The rest must be an expensive and elegant black business suit.

I can see that working out, or you can sort of reimagine the skull into something skull-like, but not actually a skull. I'd also prefer to see the mask cover his whole face.

i have to respectfully disagree. The only thing running aroun din a BDSM mask is the Comedian. And besides that it would just be weird a gimp mask isnt intimidating, its just weird.

Damn, I forgot about the Comedian.

As for the weirdness, that's the point. Combine the weird leather mask with his cruel personality and you got a creepy villain. And to be honest, a skull mask would not look intimidating either, and a scarred skull-like face would look too repetitive after Two-Face.

I really dont see why people would be reminded of two face with Black Mask

See i like the mask like this intimidating and whatnot, but there would have to be changes to it.

1. It would not get permanently melted to his skin....that is stupid and WAY too much like two face
2. Its a mask...the mouth part will not open when he speaks
3. He doesn't call himself Black Mask.
4. No ears or anything like that

He would look similar to Two-Face if they go for the "disfigured-face-looking-like-a-black-skull" route, because Two-Face had his scarred half to look like a black skull with only bits of red. If they go for a skull-like mask it won't be similar to Two-Face, but I don't think that it will be that much intimidating.

For Point 1- For starters, didn't you just say, "I really dont see why people would be reminded of two face with Black Mask"?

Second, why is it stupid? This has actually happened before. In the stunt crew I work in, one of my co-workers knew a guy who was in a motorcycle stunt show that included pyrotechnics. One biker got too close to a flame that went off, and the flames went up into his helmet, and melted his skin to the insides of it. There's nothing "fantastical" about this.

For Point 2- That's why I would get rid of the lower jaw. Given the fact that he'd likely play a major part in the film if he was in it, the directors would likely feel that some animation would be needed for his face. That said, the lower half MAY melt to his actual lower jaw, which would allow it to move when he speaks.

For Point 3- Not calling himself Black Mask is just not smart. What reasons do you have for this? If it's because of the simplicity, what about "The Joker," "The Scarecrow," and "Two-Face"? Those aren't simple enough names already? It's not about the simplicity, it's about the relations to the characters- their signatures, so to speak.

For Point 4- I agree. The ears just look dumb, I think.

His hearing will be drastically reduced he decides not to have ears.

ive got a picture of a black mask i drew but how do i post it on here

Go to a site, like www.photbucket.com or www.imageshack.com, you don't need an account for image shack, but you can't have an album either.

Upload your picture. Click on the picture until you see the size you want.

Copy the image location.

When you're posting a reply click on the sunset over the mountains picture on the above tool bar.

Enter your URL and there you go.

Let me know of any problems.

... The mask wouldn't be his actual face... Just melted to it. Besides, I imagine there would be holes for the ears anyway, if the mask covers his entire head.
