I'm still surprised that the wachowski's didn't accept the offer. And it's not like they don't collaborate with other CB writers ( they are good friends with JM Stracinsky). But maybe it's just a case of them wanting to do their own movies . There were reports that they wanted James McTeigue to be the director ( with them as producers) but WB said no. Which again baffles me why WB is considering Jonah as a director. At least with James McTeigue you could say that he's directed movies . Not to mention that he was first A.D. on both the Matrix and SW prequels so he has knowledge of how big VFX sequences work.
But if WB is that desperate to have Chris as the director...well so be it.

i'm not surprised the Wachowskis don't wanna do this. their style is very different from the Nolans and both parties are somewhat of control freaks (which is a good thing)...so there would be a lot of butting heads. as for McTeigue...while i enjoyed V for Vendetta quite a bit, Ninja Assassin just sucked monkey balls. the Wachowskis are better suited for Dragon Ball anyway...

Guilermo Del Toro?? he also did both Hellboys. i wouldn't mind seeing him make a Superman film, but not this one. his movies are VERY stylized and i just can't see him gelling with the Nolans.

the thing with ratner is that yeah, he's no speilburg or coppola, but he's nowhere close to being the king of fail like Boll or shymalan like people make him out to be...the thing is that he's an adequate film maker on the best of days, but that's just it, he has the potential to be "perfectly adequate guy".

no thanks, to be perfectly honest, i don't want a dark, cerebral superman, that's exactly what singer tried to do and that's what we got, and that seems to be the nolan's forte.

That's exactly my point.

Ratner's not exactly what I'd call an Oscar-worthy director, but his work is still leaps and bounds ahead of the so-called 'films' David Goyer's thrust upon us so far.

You are totally correct. A guy like Ratner could do really well in the rom-com genre since it demands so little of the romantic or comedic part. Given the right (as in not too demanding) projects I think he could do quite well. Hell, even certain TV series and mini-series he could be great at.

i still think Ron Howard would direct an awesome Superman movie, but again....it will never happen.

Ron Howard working as a sort of hired gun within the confines of Team Nolan (including Goyer as not-director) would be either {insert superlative} or the worst thing ever. Though I'm leaning toward it being awesome, if he'd do it.

Same for The Incredibles dude. Brad Bird?

This might seem like an out-of-left-field choice, but...how about Matt Reeves?
He already knows how to direct action with Cloverfield (shakycam notwithstanding), and his forthcoming remake of Let the Right One In actually looks pretty good.

I've said this before, Ratner is excellent when it comes to casting roles. It's his one gift, he would have been an awesome casting director.

Even more disturbing is, will Bay actually be looked at for the reboot? He DOES have the big visual scope and baggage for doing a humungus superhero story.
