I guess I can see the similarities. But I prefer the new S shield over this one.

I don't see many at all. High collar, cape connected to the logo, logo's different, the scaly texture isn't there, and we don't really even know what the belt looks like. About the only thing it has in common with it is the lack of trunks.

Been a fan of the character since at least '78 and while I prefer the trunks...this suit is growing on me. If the trunks are there, it's that much better, but if they're not, I'm sure they came up with a good design for that mid-area. The rest of the suit just looks too good to me to make me think they messed up in that one area.

The only thing that really bothered me about the Returns suit, well a few things

a. belt was way too low
b. shield could have been bigger and less rigid
c. boots tops were really low (short boots)
d. the collar/cape attachment

I didn't mind the colors, but naturally preferred brighter colors. This suit however has good looking tall boots (but not too tall), a good size "S", and a great collar/cape/cape attachment. It's hard to tell about the colors, but I suspect the yellow part of the "S" is a goldish color.

Just saying, as a serious fan of the character for more than 30 years, so far, I'm completely satisfied with this costume. There's my two cents.

Ha! TRUTH!

I don't think I would have had a problem with that if it hadn't been on the chest symbol itself. I actually kinda liked the belt, but they even had the \S/ on the bottoms of the boots and the back heels. Ridiculous!

Trunks are gone so we just gotta deal with it and hope they come up with a good solution around them. The first picture looks so godly because they darkened out the trunks area and so people mentally filled it in with what is supposed to be there. They won't have that luxury for the movie.

You know for sure that the trunks are gone?

I think the idea of people fighting in costumes is pretty ridiculous. Batman, Spiderman, and Wonder Woman all look absurd. But when it comes to comic books people just accept different things. I'm glad that the new costume is recognizable. We could of gotten something really awful but at least he looks like Superman. But Superman has been in pop culture for ages. The mainstream audience won't ask why he is wearing red trunks cause he is Superman. I thought The Green Lantern costume is pretty strange but there comes a point when the story takes over. Not saying that was a good film but there is a point where you forget what they are wearing. I think the jury is still out whether Superman has trunks or not but I'm hoping he does.

I'd like the suit to have trunks & I'm personally of the belief that if the suit was trunkless & it had a belt it would look even worse design wise... however if the belt design was like this on a trunkless suit it wouldn't be too bad..

that's the big difference I'd rather have texture than stiff looking armor

it's the idea of superman in armor that gets to me, but a nicely redesigned fabric (or whatever cavill's is made of) suit that's not too heavy on seams is cool

That's what I see too. I dont see any similarities with old MCG Superman concepts at all.

Yeah, I don't think you'll ever see a better shield than the SR shield.

I really liked that shield, it was a nice modernization of the shield, it looks like in this movie they are going back to a retro look.

in my opinion the returns shield looked way to ridged and inflexible plus it was small and didn't denote a sense of power like a larger sheild would

cause, I couldn’t stand the SR shield (I mean, the actually shape wasn't bad) but, the raised 3D look of it was kind of annoying, an all those tiny little S shields printing into it, wtf... an of course it was way too small

I see 95% classic, but with the trunks and belt in very heavy shadow.
