this is the smartest thing you should ever read.

that is an iconic superman pose, but, in my opinion, If they some how did screen tests, side by side, each in their own costumes, with proper lighting etc, HC would win hands down.

1. the pair of them standing side by side, the natural hair, the defininition of muscle and open neckline, the better red, the bigger more natual shield of HC would beat Returns suit.

2. in flight and landing, a better cape and costume that allowed movement, HC would win.

3. Practicality, how can those returns boots be stored any where and that cape. plus does he carry super gel

All in all this is a tongue in cheak post, but seriously, when this film is out, if someone took the time to line scenes together, it would be obvious that the man of steel costume is superior.

So, that in my opinion is why the over all look, design is better. I'm not bashing returns or BR, just saying this is better.

Also, whilst i am here, when i saw returns suit i was like yeah baby, awesome, but why is there an S on his belt, and all over his suit and why oh why is the neck line so small... as an observation.. this suit i was like.... ohh wow, awesome... no pants... oh well it looks alien in design so i guess makes sense... woah look at those muscles and damn that cape is red and nice...
:)

not usually a fan of conan but that was pretty funny, but i think its because of scott i am a big KITH fan

I doubt it can get any better because if the muscles underneath the cloth look real, then the only thing they can do to make it look more real than that is have it look like the material is perhaps cloth. As far as making it look real, that looks like a real big guy in a tight suit. That is about as real as something can look. How much more realistic could the muscle look underneath clothing than that?

I'm sorry, but could you rephrase that somehow? Because I'm confused with what you're saying.

Sure, my point is.

He is wearing a muscle suit that looks anatomically correct.

The suit he is wearing looks like a type of cloth.

If the muscle looks real, and the suit looks real, I doubt the muscle suit can get better, only the cloth on top of the suit can get better.

I doubt that if a muscle suit is anatomically correct and looks real, that any improvements can be made over time. Other than the muscle can look real without clothes as well.

I personally love the suit, its a good combination of the classic and the re-launch.

But my MAIN peeve is that looking at the design, it doesn't look like Martha Kent made it. Her making the suit was a nice touch to Superman's character in general. Fitting that his adoptive mother would turn the blankets giving by his real mother into his costume. Best of both worlds.

Ah, Martha sewing Superman's coustume makes Clark look like a dimwit. Plus, you know, indestructible material, etc.

I think if everyone on Krypton is wearing something similar, that kind of shows where it came from, but the making it is always hard to swallow unless it is tights. Like Spider-Man, a teen building that costume with the raised webbing is hard to swallow. If you are going to go with that story, then make it look like he really did make it at home, even if you use muscle padding underneath, etc. but, it should look like regular cloth without any raised webbing.

Batman, well he seems to have unlimited cash, so building a suit for himself is no different than Warner Bros. making a suit for the movie. Unlimited cash.

Superman though, it can go either way, if it is cloth, it can be homemade, but if it is something like this, it looks too alien. I would assume that came with him from Krypton. Not that his mom made it with some clothes and an "S".

I agree. I think the days of Martha making the suit are over. It just doesn't make sense unless it's some sort of cloth. In the early years of Superman the only materials available were cotton and wool, materials that are easily sewn and it was quite common for moms to tailor clothing for the kids. Today, if the suit is going to be anything other than what you can find at the fabric store it should be alien in origin.

Ok.

The muscles don't look real to me, though. When I look at it, I know it's a combo of padding and shading to give the illusion of some sort of spandex or whatever material that allows for definition to still come though much like how these guys are often drawn in the comics.

I just don't see modern (depending on the time, money, material, and tech available) as equaling better. Just products of their time/era/year they were made.

That's right. A new generation of fans is about to be introduced to Superman in his new costume. In 2013, Cavill's Superman will further expand the trunk-less Superman costume unto the psyche of millions.
By the the time the MOS sequel hits, the traditional costume will seem weird and awkward to the majority of Superman fans.

I would not have believed it a few weeks ago, but yes, the Returns costume suddenly looks like a Party City Halloween costume reject.

You're absolutely correct, it's not just your opinion. I'm sure Snyder and co. selected this costume because it is the right suit for this man at this time.
To have had Cavill wear the traditional costume would have potentially made MOS a box office failure.

Yep!

So what you're saying is you hate the classic costume.

It was so ridiculous when Martha made the suit for Clark to wear (in the Smallville series) only to have Jor-El steal it and encase it in ice.
Again I'm really glad I did not watch Smallville.

As for the suit's origins. SUIT OF STEEL...:cwink::oldrazz:

Welling and his CGI Routh suit don't deserve to be on any suit poll. Again, what about the Superboys?

was gonna do a pic with real images of the suits but am too lazy..
