They haven't really. They just updated the materials. They found a way to update it without taking things away.

the design is completely different first and for most is the lack of web pattern which the replaced with a simple grid pattern

nothing about the suit says spider except for the poorly done techno spider on his chest

this looks nothing like the original suit except for the eye shape and colors and over all outline of the suit, and notice how he doesnt have a web pattern anymore

and the grid looks even worse on the side of his dome

i feel about the spidey suit the same way i can imagine kurosawa feels about the MoS suit

straight lines that intersect are a grid, google grid pattern

So basically because those little lines don't curve a little the costume is terrible?

not just the web pattern, its the spider logo on his chest, the lack of belt, the over all pattern of the red and blue, the silver on his shoes. as well as a few other little things that would be hard for me to articulate intelligently

the only redeeming factors of the new spiderman movie is the web shooters the look of the lizard and the casting of Andrew Garfield

You realize that a spider's web is essentially a grid pattern right? What you see as curved lines are only evident in older spider webs after the wind has blown them around. A new spider web has tight straight lines. A spider doesn't ever purposely make loose curved lines in its web.

Way to cherry pick people's opinions. I flat out love it. It's not a case of "well, it could be worse, so I'm happy," I love it. So stop reaching.

Sorry I don't get you. I replied directly to a post using the "could be worse" argument, which has been put forward quite regularly on this and other boards.
Was I implying that everybody felt that way? No.
Was I implying that you felt that way? As I have no recollection of ever having read anything written by you the answer is again, no.

i am going according to the original suit and just google web pattern 9 out of 10 look like what i drew

i hate the new spider suit pain and simple, i think its ridiculous , alien looking and way to complicated

to me the web pattern on the spider suit is as important as superman's cape or symbol , to me the web pattern is more important than the spider logo because the first things you notice are the red and blue then the web pattern

I notice his eyes first. That's why you can make him black and he still looks like Spidey; the eyes are really the most important aspect.

Has there been any clarification on the cape issue?
I'm concerned about the cape being phased out and with it some of the dramatic effects of the cape.
I'm a little concerned that they wanna see his ass more on set.
I know the cape features from the pics but hes shown later a lot without it. Could it be that it will be put in later or that its gonna be removed and possibly permanently or for the rest of this movie at least?

Knowing Snyder, he'd (wisely) insert the cape in post-production so he gets the most control over how it looks at any moment. Great for fight choreography, as the cape never gets in the way during the shoot and allows all the participants more flexibility if they don't have to worry about it.

plus tripping over it would be a problem. i was a bit surprised at the length of the cape when i first saw it. seems he has at least an extra two feet if cape. but then i instantly envisioned him with a long flowing dramatic look cape blowing in the wind, i was always a fan of spawns costume with its wild cape

here todd did this pic of supes and i like the way the cape looks

What would happen if they gave te MoS suit gloves or just red cuffs

Maybe. But, as it is, I don't think they did enough to draw attention away from it. Thus, I don't really like it. Real or in comic/animated form as shown from manips.

The S on the cape was gone in SR. MoS lost the trunks. I suppose either the cape or the red blue combo might go in further reboots. He might look closer to Neo when all is said and done. It's strange, Spiderman filmmakers have the balls to stick with his costume but the people behind Superman are embarassed or something.

Spiderman filmmakers stuck with his costume. Oh, LOL. They couldn't have screwed the Spider-suit up any more even if they had been paid extra for that task. Can't get the embarrassment behind the spider-webs in a character called Spiderman.

They didn't have the basic intelligence to stick with the spider-webs and went for some random lines pattern. That's just like having a random shape in the Superman symbol instead of an S-like shape.

well they changed his suit for the new spiderman and for the worse IMO

I wish I agreed. they changed it for the terrible. And for the mere sake of it. I haven't seen a worse bastardization of a superhero suit ever before. I mean, even the Schumacher sonar-suit was decent and cooler than this.

Yeah, except the red design, the belt, adding some crappy cheap silver sneakers over the boots, and adding some random lines instead of webs, which, by the way, they inserted wherever the felt like, not even everywhjere on the red parts as the Spiderman suit. Because sometimes are crossed lines, sometimes is just lines, sometimes is nothing at all.

Just. Like. That.

They changed it, but only slightly. But what they already had was perfect.

I'm sure the eventual goal is to make Superman look like Neo. Like I said, it's actually a miracle the MOS costume is as close as it is.

Sure. We all have seen Superman with a black coat and everything. No wait. That was Smallville.

Now, what exactly are they trying to change Spiderman into? What sense makes the sneakers, the random line pattern, the blue fingers?

Looks like a web pattern to me.

Looks like a school globe to me. Spider-webs have a spicific pattern, but the new Spiderman suit has just lines that go wherever they want to go.

So basically because those little lines don't curve a little the costume is terrible?

So basically because there are no trunks the costume is terrible?

But yes. Spiderman suit with no spider-webs on it, sucks. Try a normal cape on Batman, without the bat wings shape and that's just a cheap imitation.

The curves are just part of the matter. The pattern doesn't follow the spide-web. A spider-web has a center, the concentric lines and then some circumferences-like lines connecting those concentric lines.

In the new suit lines loook much more like a school globe. And then the lines go wherever they want and sometimes, just because, they just disappear.

Same happens with Superman to me. It's all the symbol and the red cape. Certainly not the trunks.

I don't what they're doing with Spidey but I know the costume from the new movie sucks ass. It's only slightly different in design but it's replacing perfection, and the no belt/sneaker shoes and bad spider designs are lame.

Web shooters and the female lead are the biggest things the Amazing Spider-Man has going for it.

That Spidey suit IS hideous. I really hope it looks good on screen, because I kinda hate it right now. And I don't like the yellow eyes one bit...

I was skeptical of the new Spidey until they released the promo shots. It looked goofy in spy photos, but that one of him in full costume is full on perfect. It's so Spidey. The so nailed the posture, the lighting, and the inherent energy in that pic that I didn't care if his fingers were blue. In fact, the hands is my favorite part of the new suit.

Female lead? Garfield is going to blow this one out of the park, I have no doubt he'll be a better Peter Parker and a better Spiderman than Tobey was. Marc Webb is no slouch either.

Well, yes, they nailed the posture, the lighting, and the inherent energy. Everything but the actual suit.

Thats exactly it. While I really like the colors of the new Spider-Man costume the completely unnecessary change of the Ditko pattern which was proven by the previous films to look incredible on screen was just inexcusably needless.

They could have given us something completely different while still sticking with the general Ditko design. A color change, black webbing, and the yellow lenses (which I do like) would have been perfect. The omission of the ingrained "belt" was like I said not needed.

I actually thought I'd clicked on the wrong thread for a minute and got lost on the Spidey boards...

What's difference really? I think just about every subsection of this forum is loaded with people whining endlessly about *insert hero's name here* and their costume.

Ah, there is the point...
The Raimi costumes were perfect. Too perfect for a broke high school/college kid to make, let alone make multiple numbers of them, as they seemed to get tore up with every fight. The new costume looks gritty, homemade.
