Almost looks a little Routh'ish there, only a lot more natural.

Kinda looks like a cross between Routh and Cavill in this one:

Freaky.

But whatever, we already have our perfect Superman. Sometimes I forget that. :yay:

If they start up a superman tv show after the cavill trilogy I think he'd be perfect....otherwise we have our generations superman..:)

A huge no on that one. The other one before that... maybe... And the first one, that's a really good option.

It comes down to whether your willing to except change or not, and there are those people out there (the die hards) who will never except it.

when it comes to change simply for the sake of change, no, I wont accept it.
Batman was different. his change was based on the account of realism... this movie has no excuse.

Maybe MOS will take "account of realism" too. We'll be able to judge that... when we see the movie.

there is no realism in a story about a invincible solar powered alien that can fly

at least IMO

It doesn't have to be all or nothing. Even at its most basic terms, realism in the form of physics can be applied to superhuman feats. Integration is always an option.

I highly disagree with this statement.

But I think that's due to the highly subjective interpretation of the word 'realism'.

The bolded part of the statement invalidates the rest of it. As soon as you start explaining Superman, the more it becomes grounded, like Nolan's Batman. Almost nothing in those films is realistic, but they are explained in a way that makes you believe in them.

Tell this to Snyder, who plans on releasing Superman from that stylized shackled world (as he calls it) he's been in, and bring him into our world. This will be the most realistic Sups we ever seen.

The Superman questioning begins at 5:30 in this clip, pay attention, this will give you a good Idea of the treat we are in for in MOS...

Giuntoli actually read for the role, and got past the first auditions and if I remember correctly, was a finalist or close to being one. He does have an interview somewhere that talks about it.

Removing the trunks was based on realism too, in a sense. They want the suit to look more alien, and the trunks-over-tights look is seen as old fashioned by a lot of people rather than sleek and futuristic like you'd imagine with alien attire.

I like to call it a 'balance of plausibility'. Some still say verisimilitude...but that's maybe gotten a bit too vague. The trunks issue is probably more about style/taste....as you really can't single it out more or less than any other aspect of his costume in terms of function, or realism, or what have you.

that's cool

Why are we talking about an actor who isn't even playing Superman in the "costume" discussion thread?

Exactly.

Back to the discussion of Cavill's package/anti trunksters hating on Siegel and Shuster/tramp stamp designs.

:p

No other way to say this...does anyone else find that their eyes are drawn to Superman's package more when he's not wearing the trunks?

This is why I loves ya Hopeful, you get straight to the point! Packages and tramp stamps, I LOVE it!!! :D

I'm gonna upload that Vid of Margot Kidder (and the costume designer) talking about Sups cod piece (set up) once I get home from work. It is about costume design and this is the costume thread, so I see no problem with it.

BTW, that Giuntoli guy is a no go for Sups, he's weird looking! :barf:

I'm more curious to see on how the design of the costume will evolve with future films IF MOS is successful enough to warrant future sequels, let alone a franchise.
