The Official DC Stupid Question Thread....

The circumstances that brought it about were dumb, but the death itself--Inertia pushing the Rogues into taking things too far against their better judgment--was handled about as well as it could be.

Both had decent deaths, but I'm glad that they're back nonetheless. Comics should just be stamped with a "death is NOT permanent" disclaimer from now on, just to spare people the inevitable disappointment with their first few resurrections.

At this point, no one permanently stays dead now except 616 Uncle Ben, 616 Gwen Stacy, and the Waynes. Brought back temporarily for a storyarc doesn't count.

Jason Todd and Bucky? Back. Nearly around the same time too.

At this point, I'm not sure even they'll stay dead.

Well, before OMD, there was an Uncle Ben from another universe running around, and of course, all the Gwen Stacy clone and daughter.

What are the collected editions that take place after Superman: Last Son. Im trying to figure out what takes place after last son and before brainiac.

Escape from Bizarro World and Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes.

The latter being vastly superior to the former.

Hey guys I was wondering if the Plastic Man series was any good?

I saw it at the shop the other day, but they wouldn't let anyone take their books out of the plastic so I was unable to check them out myself.

Are they written for children or the more mature comics reader? (And by mature I'm not asking for adult only content, I just want coherent storylines, action, etc.)

I'm trying to get more familiar with the character and thought that might be a good way to do it.

Kyle Baker's Plastic Man is very good, but it's not really the Plastic Man from the DCU it's very much the Jack Cole Golden Age version of him. It's set in the DCU but it's played for laughs but it's very well crafted, beautiful to look at, funny and surprisingly poignant in places. It's a very cartoony book almost to the point of letting the pictures do everything and trying to use as sparse dialogue as possible. Kids would love it but it's not written down for kids in anyway. It won't be what everyone wants out of a comic (especially if you just don't click with the Jack Cole style humour) it certainly wasn't what the public wanted when it was released it bombed rather badly though it won loads of awards and huge critical acclaim but you might be pleasantly surprised.

If you really want to know what Plastic Man is like in the DCU just read JLA from Morrison through to Kelly. They do more with Plastic Man as a Superhero than any other book has ever tried - and then Plastic Man utterly failed when they gave him all the deadbeat dad and grimdark stuff after he left.

Is Batman #688 a good issue to go into Batman? I want something post-RIP so i wont be caught up in the whole Final crisis thing...( their not directly related but still..)

Thank you very much!
I'll pick up some of the JLA stuff then.

Probably be forgotten. DiDio's not particularly fond of her, as I understand it.

He's the word I called Corp earlier today that almost got me an infraction, but not in the offensive way, in the stupid way.

We're getting a new Batgirl...

...so, what's Cassandra Cain gonna do?

She's supposedly part of the new series supporting cast.

But basically, swept into the background, given some spotlight here and there to "satisfy" us fans.

Probably be forgotten. DiDio's not particularly fond of her, as I understand it.

That, and almost everyone doesn't know how to handle her, and/or even want to.

Which is sad. She has a lot of potential as a character and the stories she can bring.

But Beechen single-handedly crippled her character. With changes so abrupt that it'll take nothing short of retcons to fix it.

Hello guys,

a question for you all. I picked up some of the JLA with Plastic Man, and loved it. Read the Baker stuff, and it was amusing. So thank you for the advice.

Metamorpho.
I know he was on the Outsiders, but that's about it. He seems like an interesting character, but I don't know where to go to read anything good with him in it.
Anyone know or have advice?

What GLC issues are collected in the RingQuest and Sins of the Star Sapphire trades?

RingQuest is 19-20 & 23-26, Sins of the Star Sapphire is 27-32

What is the difference between the JSA and the JLA? Ive never got into Justice Society.

Older guard.

As put earlier by Johns, Justice Society of America #1 (or #2). . .

JLA is like the strike force against evil.

JSA is like the teachers that instill morality in the newer generation of heroes.

The JSA also came first in the current continuity. Many of the JLA'ers looked up to JSA'ers as kids. Batman saw Alan Scott flying through Gotham as a child, for example.

what amazed me is that although "Bucky" rhymes with "sucky," it was in fact Jason Todd who was sucky NOT Bucky.
