Hm, the costumes aren't really that impressive. Nothing we have't seen before. But appearing in the cutscenes is still good.

Not sure if it's the same for PS4 and PC, but the digital pre-order is live on Xbox One.

DMC is one of my all time favorite franchise (with the exception of DMC2, of course)...might even be my favorite. I'm so stoked for this game...and I want Capcom to get the message that we the majority of fans want a follow up to this game more than DmC (and I even enjoyed DmC...but it pales in comparison to the fun spirit of the originals IMO). I want this so much so that DMC4: SE is the first game I've every preordered through the PSN. I'm even considering importing a physical copy from Japan...so I guess you could say I'm doing my part to get DMC5 made.

Good grief...if this is the actual achievement/trophy list, then it looks like i probably won't be platinuming this one :argh:

Hm...getting those S ranked achievements MAY not be all that hard. I saw a demo on YouTube showcasing Dante in Legendary Dark Knight mode, where you fight like 25 enemies in a single encounter. The player used the Pandora rocket launcher ship thing and got numerous SSS ranks, he also got SSS ranked when using the stinger attack in Devil Trigger. He was able to use the Pandora ship for a long time too, longer than usual. So idk if he was using a mod tool, or not. Either way, t was incredibly easy for him to get SSS ranks.

The spirit of the originals is overall more fun.
Gameplay in the reboot is honestly more fun, DMC4 is my favorite, but DmC is more fun than DMC3, and has a fun fun fun combo system.

I did think seriously about importing to have the physical copy, and I may have had the cost been about the same, but I'm honestly willing to go digital-only for $15 less.

I do agree that DmC's combat is really fun. Switching between weapons is so seamless and the pulling enemies and yourself around was really enjoyable too...but something I really missed was the styles...that and the biggest omission in the combat was the impact. The stinger is the best example...in DMC you'd friggen SLAM into enemies and they'd go flying, in DmC your take 2 steps and just stab your sword at them...it felt completely lacking. In DmC you feel like you are slashing enemies, in DMC you feel like you are wrecking and destroying them...Much more enjoyable IMO.

I completely disagree with the idea that the DmC gameplay is more fun. It lacks the challenge, nuance and sharpness of the original series. DMC3 is on Ninja Gaiden Black, Bayonetta, and Bayonetta 2 ground. It is that tight, that perfect in terms of gameplay. The original and 4 are not far behind. It is so far behind, the GoW series is ahead of it in terms of gameplay.

I wish I could like DMC3 as much as every other Devil May Cry fan.
What is your problem with it? Personally, I am not the biggest fan of the art design and Dante's look in general. Also, the Michael Bay stuff turns me off a bit. But it is has some of the best gameplay ever, so I got over that eventually.

My favorite is still the first. It has the best overall package imo. Great gameplay, real challenge, a nice minimalist story, and some of the best atmosphere in a gaming. Devil May Cry 4 has my favorite Dante. I think he is a great mix of the first and third games' Dante.

Mainly that. I know it's silly, but I just can't get past it. I got the game back in 2006 and only beat it once, I believe. I mean it plays great, you can do some awesome things in it, but I never loved the game. I even preferred DMC2 to DMC3 due to the atmosphere, even if gameplay wise it wasn't the strongest. I guess sometimes I look for different things in games than other people.

I got the DMC collection and I replayed DMC3. I liked it a bit better, and I disliked DMC2 a little more.

DMC1 is obviously the "purest" and that has my favorite Dante, I think. He was jokey, cocky, but had a dark aura to him and was a badass. DMC4 Dante is hilarious though.

Weren't the songs already hard rock and metal to begin with?

There's wasn't any other type of music. I'm sure it's cause they just want to sell the musice Cd seperately.

Which is the first I've heard them do with this series of games. they've done it with their other game series recently it's just a trend they started

Since this was a thread originally dedicated to DmC, I went ahead and renamed it since this has sort of became the de facto discussion thread for the series as a whole.

I dont think I realized you were even a moderator

I really hope they don't continue with the reboot DMC and go back to the original Devil May Cry games.

I didn't really like the characters from the reboot.

I don't think they will but I would rather DmC get w sequel

Me too but I also like the idea of a crossover of both worlds.

I'd be fine with either a DmC2 or DMC5, honestly. The perfect thing for me would be a combination of the interesting world and setting of DmC with the refined and smooth gameplay of the original DMC games.
