V detailed and Bloody Palace Mode due out post-release.
![]()
Capcom debuted a new trailer for Devil May Cry 5 at The Game Awards 2018, as well as announced new information including an Xbox One-exclusive demo due out on December 7, how new character V plays, the return of Bloody Palace Mode, and an online cooperative mode.
Get the details below.
First Demo
At The Game Awards in Los Angeles, Capcom and Microsoft revealed that the first Devil May Cry 5 demo will be available for download exclusively on the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X starting tomorrow, December 7. This smokin’, sexy, stylish demo sees players assume the role of young demon hunter Nero on the streets of Red Grave City as he takes on several demons including the Mighty Goliath in the eternal battle between the forces of good and evil. Players can execute devastating attacks on enemies using Nero’s special Devil Breaker arms designed by his partner in crime and self-professed “weapons artist” Nico. Combined with melee attacks using his ‘Red Queen’ sword and the long range firepower of his ‘Blue Rose’ handgun, the power of Nero’s Devil Breaker arms make the dramatic, adrenaline-fuelled action even more thrilling. This exclusive Xbox One demo gives players their first taste of what to expect when the iconic action series Devil May Cry returns with the launch of the full game on March 8, 2019.
V Details
Viewers of The Game Awards were also treated to the first details of the mysterious character V. V may appear weak next to Nero and Dante, but he has the ability to unleash a unique fighting style that sees him summon three different demons to assist in battle:
Utilizing a combination of all three demons’ powers, players can take their enemies down to the brink of death, allowing V to swing into battle and finish them off with a devastating cane attack.
- Shadow – A swift, four-legged panther-like creature with savage agility that sees him change his shape into sharp blades and needles for perfectly executed close-range attacks
- Griffon – A bird-like demon possessing aerial combat skills which allows him to carry V across Red Grave City and shoot lightning bolts at enemies from up above
- Nightmare – The most powerful of V’s demons. Nightmare’s gigantic size sees him destroy enemies with just his basic attack, and he can also fire beams of light to destroy any approaching foes.
Bloody Palace Mode
Capcom is also pleased to confirm the return of fan-favorite Bloody Palace Mode. Coming to the game as a free update shortly after launch in April 2019, this extra quick-elimination mode pits players against hordes of fast-approaching enemies and bosses until they reach the end. Details on the Cameo System in Devil May Cry 5 were also revealed, where players’ worlds collide with other demon hunters. While online, other players can be seen making special guest appearances in the game as they battle other demons around Red Grave City – even joining in the battle in some cases. Players can rate each other’s cameos in-game by rating their gameplay “Stylish!” if they’re impressed by their SSStylish skills.
The game’s official website was also updated with new information and footage:
■ Characters
V, The Mysterious One
![]()
Book and cane in hand, this slender man appears covered in impressive tattoos. Before chaos fell upon Red Grave City, he sought out Dante through the information broker Morrison and tasked him to subdue a certain demon. V lacks the power to fight himself, instead relying on three demon familiars to take the offensive in battle.
—The Familiars, Shadow & Griffon
V’s combat potential is practically nonexistent, so he relies on these demons to lay waste to his foes—Shadow for close combat, and Griffon for ranged attacks. Once these two lay on enough pain, it’s up to V to put his enemies to rest with his trusty cane.
Shadow: This demon familiar usually takes the form of a quadruped beast, only to shapeshift into blades, needles, and all manner of nasty weapons to act as vanguard. Through Shadow, V can also move at faster speeds than normal.
![]()
Griffon: This avian monstrosity can always be found somewhere around V, usually flapping its beak with some inappropriate jab. Griffon brings the thunder with electrified long-range attacks, or can give V a lift if close by.
![]()
—Nightmare
V can unleash his full power to call upon this gargantuan demon.
When summoned, Nightmare may crash onto the battlefield like a meteorite, or burst through parts of the environment to heed the call. Its sluggish movements belie unsurpassable strength and nigh-invulnerability. Wherever Nightmare appears, its massive fists or brutal laser beams are the last thing enemies ever see.
■ Systems
Cameo System
Destinies collide with the Cameo System!
In Devil May Cry 5, the three demon hunters walk the road of carnage.
This battle holds many crossroads, some of which bring these hunters (and sometimes players) together. Encounter players from all over the world, even battle alongside them in this new form of online play.
—During gameplay, players may sometimes observe their fellow Devil Hunters fighting in the distance. Such a sight might very well be another player connected online!

In the upcoming Devil May Cry V, the player will have a chance to control three totally different protagonists - the series' main star Dante, his impulsive nephew Dante, and finally a never-before-seen antihero hiding behind his "V' nickname. While fans of the Capcom series know who Dante and Nero are very well, the Japanese company has finally revealed what V's skillset and ambitions really are.
The trailer that aired during this year's Game Awards confirms that V is touted as a deceptively strong character that can summon three dangerous demons to assist him in battle: Shadow (a panther-like beast that can morph into deadly blades and needles), Griffon (a bird demon that can carry V across large areas and attack with fire beams), and massive demon that crushes enemies Nightmare.
You can see his pretty creative skills in the latest Devil May Cry V trailer that also spotlight the slasher’s main villain - a bloody demon that is powerful enough to mess with the heroes' minds, memories, and even dreams. His grand invasion begins when the seeds of a "demon tree" take root in Red Grave City, and that's just a small beginning of the Sons of Sparda's big adventure. Check it out down below:
A new demonic invasion has begun with the seeds of a demon tree being sown in Red Grave City. Now fully equipped with his trusty Red Queen and Blue Rose, and a new arsenal of rad robot hands thanks to his partner Nico, Nero must rise up to this new impossible task. With such insane amount of energy and destruction emanating from this surprise invasion, the stage is now set for the latest chapter of the “Sons of Sparda” saga.

Following the recent release of a V-focused Devil May Cry V trailer, Capcom has shared yet another gameplay video for the upcoming slasher, this time showcasing the cooperation between the series' main protagonist Dante, his young nephew Nero, and debuting in the upcoming game mysterious anti-hero known as V, who possesses a unique ability to summon different beast to help him in battles.
The latest trailer also features Japanese voices, as the game's characters will be dubbed in the Japanese version as follows: Nero (voiced by Kaito Ishikawa), Dante (voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa), V (voiced by Kouki Uchiyama), Nico (voiced by Lynn), Trish (voiced by Atsuko Tanaka), Lady (voiced by Fumiko Orikasa,) Kyrie (voiced by Saori Hayami), and finally Morrison (voiced by Akio Ootsuka).
Capcom has also proudly announced that players will have a chance to listen to a new HYDE track titled Mad Qualia during their playthrough. HYDE (also known as Takarai Hideto) is the lead vocalist for the rock band L'Arc-en-Ciel, as well as for Vamps. Mad Qualia was created exclusively for Devil May Cry V and you can listen to the song in the aforementioned trailer that you can check out down below:

In the upcoming Devil May Cry V, the player will have a chance to control not one, not two, but three different characters: the series' universally loved protagonist Dante, his young and impetuous business partner Nero, and debuting in the famous slasher franchise mysterious anti-hero known as V, who possesses the unique ability to summon at least three dangerous beast that help him in battles.
According to the latest trailer, the relationship between these three demon hunters will be an intense one, as the recently released video ends with V trying to kill... Dante! While it's hard to judge what's exactly going on between these two with no context, it looks like the old theory that “V” actually stands for “Vergil”, who’s Dante' villainous brother and Nero's possible father, may turn out to be true!
What's even more interesting, the players that have played the Xbox One demo of Devil May Cry V may know that wounded Vergil shows up at the beginning of the game to cut off Nero's demonic arm and restore his energy by consuming it. Considering that Capcom released the spoiler-y trailer nearly three months before its official release may suggest that there's more to V's relationship with Dante that meets the eye. All secrets will be revealed on March 8, 2019, when DMCV hits stores worldwide.

The most recent marketing push for Devil May Cry 5 has been focusing on the third playable protagonists, the mysterious and still pretty enigmatic V. Capcom is touting him as a deceptively strong character that can summon three dangerous demons to assist him in battle: Shadow (a panther-like beast that can morph into deadly blades and needles), Griffon (a bird demon that can carry V across large areas and attack with fire beams), and a massive demon that crushes enemies Nightmare.
Famitsu has recently released a comprehensive summary of V's powers and it looks like that hero's complicated personality is actually even more confusing. First of all, V turns out to be a victim, as his summons have possessed him, giving him the controversial tattoos and black hair, as his natural state is actually white hair and (mostly) tattoo-free skin. For example, when he summons Nightmare, which uses the Devil Trigger meter, that causes a peek at V’s natural looks.
When it comes to the beasts, Griffon is the only summon that can speak human language and can talk with Nightmare and Shadow to communicate what they are saying to V. Each of these demons has different roles in combat, most notably Nightmare who is not controlled by the player unless they opt to ride on him. Nightmare is slow and doesn't have many moving options and manually controlling him means that you most likely have to fight the demons at the same spot you've decided to control him.
For some reason, neither of them can kill enemies, so it's V's role to deal with the damaged ones moving in to deliver the final blow when enemies turn white. To heal his animal partners faster, V can stand lose to them in their core state, while opening and reading his book allows V to regenerate his Devil Trigger and the closer you are to enemies while reading it, the more extra points you get.

Devil May Cry 5 director Hideaki Itsuno shared a few new tidbits of information about the game during a media showcase event in South Korea, including the game’s estimated length.
Here are the tidbits:
Why is the story set after Devil May Cry 2?
The reason it is set after Devil May Cry 2 can be understood by playing the game.
What was difficult about using the RE Engine?
Since the RE Engine was originally created for Resident Evil 7: biohazard, it was difficult to implement the violent action of Devil May Cry. We focused on upgrading the engine’s processing speed and performance.
There are three protagonists, so how long will the game take to complete?
The development team took about 15 to 16 hours to clear the game.
The visuals are similar to DmC Devil May Cry, but what is the future of that series?
It might look that way since we were shooting for photo realism, but we were actually aiming for something Hollywood movie-esque like The Avengers. As for the future of DmC Devil May Cry, that is difficult to say.
Will there be additional playable characters
If a lot of users request it, we may add more playable characters.
Are there hidden places, items, enemies, and powerful monsters?
There are a few hidden weapons.
Devil May Cry 5 is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 8. A demo is due out for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on February 7.

Me too, since I didn't enjoy Nero as much as I'd like. I think I miss his devil arm.Played the demo the other night and it was just what I always wanted, so I will definitely be preordering this game. Can't wait to feel how Dante and V play.
I'm sure you'll get his original arm back it'll be interest what those new attachment arms will be like with his original arm though. they did this just to change things up and give him a unique fighting style which was the whole purpose any way.Me too, since I didn't enjoy Nero as much as I'd like. I think I miss his devil arm.
I'll probably be using the air boost one the most.
Just sucks that we can't switch between them. I heard people talking that this was a strategic decision.
That's a bad decision nonetheless.
it's just a feeling I have it's possible Yomato may go back to Vergil . thogh it possble vergil will get another katan similar to it or amy even use the sparda sword in a new look.I'm not counting on that. I see no reason on going back since the new arm can also pull demons to you or you to them.

Capcom's Devil May Cry V was announced last June during Microsoft's E3 press conference and the wait it almost over, with the latest entry in the critically acclaimed slasher series releasing this Friday.![]()
During last week's livestream, Game Director Hideaki Itsuno and Nero’s Japanese Voice Actor Kaito Ishikawa had a chance to chat about the upcoming title, its bizarre world, and even core gameplay mechanics. Thanks to the all-new footage that debuted during their conversation, we have our best look yet at Nero's new costume that will be available as the Alternate Color Costumes pre-order bonus.
According to Devil May Cry V Senior Producer Michiteru Okabe, "gathering the best materials for making a character’s look, voice and actions probably takes more time than an actual live-action film," Okabe explained in a recent interview with Capcom. "Take actions, for example: For gestures unique to Japanese people, we need to get a Japanese actor to play the part," so you can be pretty sure that every in-game character was created with a lot of thought and amazing attention to detail.
If the white suit is not what you would like to see on the screen, towards the end of the said video (that you can watch down below), Ishikawa is tasked with playing the default Nero in the extended demo.
