I don't want them to sell the franchise, I hope the next Marvel vs Capcom is a real good one stuffed with loads of good extra contents
Wonder if they will use the old Dante as an alternate unlockable skin if they insert him in the next MvC entry

A Devil May Cry 5 would have flopped just as bad and if 4 is any indication of quality it would have been a much worse game

People boycotted this game. DMC5 obviously would have made much more with the loyal fanbase back.

If Capcom can't make the DMC game we want, if they can't listen to their fans like a good business does, sell the ****.

Kinda an off topic thing here but I'll mention it, Yo DarthSkywalker the "Sess" is in a pod cast @ Vic's Basement. I'll send to ya via pm.

Bee a while since this was touched

Capcom is bringing DmC Devil May Cry and Devil May Cry 4 to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the publisher announced.
DmC Devi May Cry: Definitive Edition will be available for purchase at retail and as a digital download across Europe and North America on March 17 for $39.99 / €39.99. It will include the original game, all previously released downloadable content, including the “Vergil’s Downfall” campaign, as well as brand new modes and additional gameplay features.
New to the Definitive Edition is the ability to play as Dante’s twin brother in “Vergil’s Bloody Palace Mode.” The “Gods Must Die” difficulty will offer an “extra depth of challenge,” and “Must Style Mode” and “Hardcore Mode” are designed to play more like the series’ classic entrie. There will also be new Dante and Vergil costumes inspired by the series’ classic haracter designs.
The game will also see balancing and improvements based on fan feedback, as well as modifiers that can be turned on at various stages, including “Turbo Mode,” which allows players to increase the speed of play for “faster and more intense combat.” Additional leaderboards, trophies / achievements, and social features are also included.
Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition is due out for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in summer 2015. More information will be released in the coming months.

and fact sheet below.
Gameplay Overview
Developed by Ninja Theory, DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition will include all of the stylish action gameplay from the original release, all previously released downloadable content, including the “Vergil’s Downfall” campaign plus brand new modes and additional content, making this the ultimate offering for Devil May Cry fans. Maximizing the potential of next-gen hardware, the game’s high quality production values will run at a stunning 1080p and smooth 60 fps across PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Starting March 17, 2015, DmC will be available at retail and as a digital download.
New to DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition, players will be able to play as Dante’s twin brother himself in Vergil’s Bloody Palace Mode. For an extra depth of challenge, new modes have been added including Gods Must Die Mode, Must Style Mode and Hardcore Mode. In addition to the game’s new features, players will also receive new Dante and Vergil costumes inspired by classic Devil May Cry character designs.
DmC sees the origin story of self-assured series protagonist Dante retold against a contemporary backdrop. The Dante of DmC is a young man who has no respect for authority or indeed society in general. Dante knows that he is not human, but also that he is not like the demons that have tormented him throughout his life. Caught between worlds, he feels like an outcast.
Thanks to his twin brother Vergil, leader of the anti-establishment group “The Order”, Dante is discovering and coming to terms with what it means to be the child of a demon and an angel. With Dante being able to call upon angel and demon abilities at will, his split personality dramatically affects the gameplay style.
Features

  • Critically acclaimed action tailored for next-gen – Experience the endlessly deep, fast-paced combat and high quality production values of DmC running at a smooth 60fps with 1080p support across both next-gen consoles. Use next-gen sharing functionality to record and upload your most impressive combo videos online for bragging rights.
  • Definitive package – Enjoy all of the stylish action gameplay from the original game, all previously released DLC, including the “Vergil’s Downfall” campaign, which features hours of additional gameplay, plus modes and content brand new to DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition all in one polished package.
  • New Vergil’s Bloody Palace Mode – Throw down the gauntlet as Dante’s twin brother Vergil against 60 waves of enemies in a challenging new Bloody Palace Mode.
  • Rebalanced combat system – The combat system and enemies have been rebalanced based on fan feedback from DmC Devil May Cry, with gameplay tuning and adjustments made, including optional manual lock-on for classic Devil May Cry fans.
  • Bigger challenges – Brand new gameplay modes for the hardcore DmC players include Hardcore Mode, Must Style Mode, and Gods Must Die Mode.
  • Must go faster – A long-standing Devil May Cry tradition, Turbo Mode increases gameplay speed by 20% for even faster, more intense combat.

The game was underrated and I enjoyed it. Shocked they are remastering it though bc it wasnt particularly well recieved. Im glad its priced appropriately though and they arent trying to get $60 from gamers. Look forward to seeing how they improve it. I originally played it on PC and it looked amazing. I tried the PS3 version when it became a Plus title and it didnt look anywhere near as good

Never got the chance to play this on PS3. Looks like the perfect opportunity now.

So I guess they'll be adding Vergil to Devil May Cry 4? That's what happened last time...we'll see. At any rate, I look forward to seeing what new stuff will be added.

Then buy it and enjoy it, one of my favorite games of 2013.
You'll enjoy the bonus of having the DLC included since the start.

DmC is so blah. It is disliked for good reason. A mediocre game withe worse then mediocre gameplay, in a series built on wonderful gameplay.

What matters here is the potential turbo mode and potential return of Vergil for DMC4. :awesome:

Also just make DMC5 already. :argh:

It actually wasn't that underrated, I think it's meta score hovers around an 85. All the true gamers understood and could recognize it was a well made game, it was just the whiney vocal pissant faux DMC "fans" that caused it to get a bad reception, but to anyone with an unbiased view, it was a well made title.

I'm stoked to hear it's coming back out. A few months back I was reading that someone had uncovered a rating or trademark or something for this, so good to hear that wasn't false. Can't wait to play this again.

:lmao:

Yeah, no. It is the critics who don't even understand these styles of games that don't get it. It is like watching critics judge a fighting game. When you play these games like they are button mashers on easy auto or normal, you don't get it. You can't possibly understand the nuance. Just writing "it has good gameplay" does not count. It was the same with Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2. It wasn't the critics that christened those games greatness. It was the community. There is a reason they are adding a turbo mode and dedicated lock on button to DmC. The gameplay is blah.

And that is before you get to the writing. Oh Jesus the writing.

But hey, they can continue the series if they want. I won't spend anymore money on it, but hey do you. I just hope they like Platinum continue the original series. It is what the fans want.

wasn't expecting this but I'll pick up DMC.

With Skywalker on this one. I never bothered to play DmC, the artistic aesthetics of it all didn't interest me, and rebooting seemed unnecessary to me. I want the original series to continue, Hideki Itsuno wants to do a Devil May Cry 5, so at least someone in the biz wants the old stuff back.

Couldn't help but laugh when "60FPS!!" popped up on the screen as a selling point. Like, Ninja Theory downplayed 60FPS as much as they possibly could when the game originally came out at only 30FPS, but now suddenly 60FPS is something to be excited about? It's ALMOST like they were talking out their ass before.

Anyway, Looking forward to [BLACKOUT]DMC5[/BLACKOUT].

You know it's going to happen.

Pat buddy, you've gone into full-blown self-parody mode this time.

Oh damn. When I saw this thread bumped I thought it were news on a sequel...

DMC and DMC3 are all time classics imo. Fantastic gameplay in both, though I will never forgiven DM3 for the shirtless Dante. :o

I also quite enjoy DMC4, though dividing the game up between Nero and Dante was a mistake. Dante's moveset is limited and Nero just isn't all that fun to play.

Really man? What about Devil May Cry 1?
DMC1 is overrated.

the game was 60 FPS on PC. It look and ran significantly better there. Its good that a version of that will finally make it too consoles bc I tried the PS3 version and couldn't play it bc it was such a downgrade

I thought Nero's gameplay was more fun than Dante. Loved his arm and the new moves that came from that

I was just playing DMC1 about an hour ago. :o Can't beat that atmosphere.

Ashamed to admit that I never actually beat DMC4. If it adds Vergil as a playable character, I might get it.

I played all 5 games back to back and I thought DMC1 was great when it was released but doesnt hold up as well now. The gameplay is good but there was some awful design choices such as those underwater segments, excessive backtracking and uninspiring level design. The story and how it was all presented was rather weak and the characterization for Dante was virtually non-existent and lacked a personality. My nostalgia held it in high regards but going back to it, made its flaws very apparent and it was nowhere near as good as 3. 1 was a good start to the series but not an amazing game.

If I had to rank the games, it would go

1. DMC 3
2. DmC
3. DMC4
4. DMC1

5. DMC2

Still to this day, I don't think I've played an action game as in depth and fun as DMC 3. Ninja Gaiden comes close though.

I'm not that great when it comes to judging gameplay. I'm more of a casual player, and not one of the hardcore types who plays the games on the highest difficulty settings, without ever getting hit. So I can only comment on the fun factor. And I would say Metal Gear Rising comes close or is easily on par. Game is just crazy.
