Theres also the Master Chief Collection which just came out not too long

Glad someone liked it. I had nothing but contempt for that title and wish it had stayed on the cutting room floor

Was it the terrible plot, or did you dislike the whole package?

a bit of both but the terrible plot most definitely stood out as the biggest turn off. The story was terrible. All the characters were boring and forgettable. Raiden did not feel or sound like Raiden. The game did not feel like a natural progression of his saga following MGS4. The title felt like a shell of a game masquearading as a Metal Gear game but it lacked the essence of being one. Im not talking about gameplay. The presentation and how it was all put together just felt hollow and that was hard to look past. Maybe had Kojima worked on it, it would have came across better but it was a mess and I have no idea what PG were trying to tell with this game. You could tell things were going downhill as the original plot was to bridge the gap between MGS2 and 4, but when they had PG work on it, they moved it to be post-MGS4 so it could easily be ignored and not affect anything. I didnt really have fun with it and didnt think it was that well done.

I don't think you really understand the point of these games.

I have mixed feelings towards these "definitive editions". On the one hand, yes, it is obvious milking. On the other hand, I do like the option of having the games on the new systems. I do wish the price would be lower though. Anything over 40 is just highway robbery.

since they seem to be in the remastering mood, I'm really hoping Bioshock Infinite gets a new gen remaster.

or even better, all 3 Bio games get remastered releases as a collection.

I admit the plot was terrible, the characters may not have been too memorable either, and yeah, the presentation wasn't all that amazing either. The environments did look cheap most of the time. Which is probably the price you pay for 60fps. But I guess I gave it a pass, because I knew of the circumstances surrounding the game. It was close to not getting made at all, and Platinum salvaged what they could.

And with what time they had, they crafted a game that had amazing gameplay, and didn't take itself too seriously. The game was simply meant to be fun. And it did its job well.

A game like DmC might have had a overall smoother production, better visuals and presentation, even solid gameplay, but I felt Ninja Theory and Capcom were too far up their own asses. Taking the piss out of their fans, going all dark and edgy, the game taking itself too seriously.

The way you feel about MGR, I feel about DmC.

It's possible. I am actually surprised Infinite didn't get that treatment immediately.

There's a lot of talk about a Borderlands collection.

Haha, I can respect that

I need something like Batman Origins to get a remaster. Adding all of the gameplay elements they didn't have the time to add before. Like Deathstroke having a much bigger part in the game, and at one point hunting you down with a helicopter.

A Borderland remaster got classified by a ratings board not too long, so something is probably coming. But again...not Capcom.

Bioshock is 2K Games, not Capcom.

I know. I was just saying, with all these games getting remastered ( and I wasn't expecting the DMC games to get that treatment ), it would be nice if that happened with the Bio games.

With Arkham Knight coming out next year, I could very well see them doing a remastered Arkham collection.

and I wouldn't be surprised if the same happened with Borderlands.

as for Capcom, I'd really love to see some kind of Breath of Fire collection of the old games. but that probably won't happen. :(

even better would be a new BoF game for the new consoles.

but, again, doesn't seem likely. :(

That'll work then. Same for Street Fighter IV?

You mean Ultra Street Fighter IV? It's $29.99, I believe. Though I don't think we've got a listing for the PS4 version, might be the same or $39.99.

Well, you said since "they" are in the mood, so I assumed you were talking about Capcom. Pretty random thought otherwise.

ah. my bad. I meant "they" as in the gaming industry as a whole.

cuz it seems like every day you hear about another game getting remastered......lol.

I'd start a thread about it, but I doubt there's enough traffic.

I know Saints Row is getting one. And Final Fantasy X... which was already a remaster.

I feel like its pretty clear these remastered editions are nothing more than the result of publishers scrambling to get content out on these new platforms (which they weren't ready for / are selling way better than expected) so they can start cashing in.

Having said that, I'm 100% in favor releasing old games on new consoles, provided the ports are good of course. It makes it so much easier for people to go back and play games they might have missed out on before, thus creating new fans and making the franchise stronger. For example, I know for a fact that there are a ton of new MGS fans thanks to the HD collection.

I think it's kind of ridiculous that there are people that are against this. Are you also against old films getting released on Blu-ray or digital formats? Imagine how ridiculous it would be if old movies were never released on new formats and every time you wanted to watch an old movie, you had break out the DVD or VHS player. Yet with games, console gaming anyway, this seems to be the norm.

Minor rant over.

The idea of Devil May Cry 5 is appealing, but to say the DmC reboot is mediocre is kinda harsh, basic gameplay is the same, and controls are a little more fluid than the original games (haven't played 1&2, no comments on those), and the removal of the fixed camera was quite the relief.

That's really harsh.
Even if the first one is overrated, it's better than $#%^.
Third one is great.
Devil May Cry 4 is my favorite (thanks to Pandora, I love that aerial weapon).
DmC is very good in gameplay, and that's the most important thing in video games.
The "basic" gameplay is the same? Well yes you use melee and ranged weapons, so yes the "basics" are the same. But that is where it ends.

I have no idea how we can compare DmC to DMC, DMC3 and DMC4 and be like, DmC has good gameplay. It just doesn't. It lacks quality enemies, the combo system is downright bad and the trigger gameplay is blah.

IA with Spider-Aziz bc it does have good gameplay and I completely disagree with you in terms of everything else you wrote
