The Avengers The Official 'Hulk in Avengers' thread. - Part 7

The most I can see happening that's close to that would be in an Avengers sequel where Hulk and the rest of the Avengers get stuck in one of the nine realms where they're held in a gladiatorial arena of some sort. That's as far as I think Marvel would tip their hats off to Planet Hulk.

This. I think in an Avengers movie, going a little bit further "out there" would be more believable than in their own solo movies...unless it's Thor.:oldrazz:

I actually really love that Hulk is an actual team player in the MCU, It's like a slightly happier AU of the comics

I guess that would make EMH's the slightly more happier AU of the comics.lol

True haha, the Hulks of other media are living the good life :D

If you could ask any question regarding hulk in the avengers and get an answer what would It be?

I already know too much, to be honest. I know he's awesome and steals the show, etc. Now I want to be surprised, so no more 'spoiler' questions by me.:word:

Post-Avengers, I don't think the whole "misunderstood monster on the run" theme would make any goddamned sense for a Hulk sequel. Also, once you've seen Hulk kicking seven shades of **** outta an invading alien army, anything less than that will seem underwhelming.

I can't think of a good way to move forward in a Hulk solo movie. Like a few posters have mentioned, Hulk works best in a team/ensemble movie. I'm starting to agree with that.

I agree that the Hulk him self needs to interact with other character. But those character don't have to be his teammates. They can be any one friend or foe. It's not that Hulk only works in a team.

Action wise the Hulk only works when you give him lots to do. He has to be attacked from all side at all times. You have to overwhelm him and show him over coming the odds that are stacked against him. His action sequences can't drag and slow down. He has to keep moving. You just can't have him punch an enemy 3 times, flex, and roar (TIH). It all has to be seamless an choreographed out the ascot.

Is this secret scene between Ruffalo and RDJ supposed to be an after-credits scene?

I absolutely love how desperate hulk looks in this. Flawless execution.

Any ideas why hulk is shredding this plane? trying to save the pilot maybe?

I'm assuming that's after he goes rouge in the Helicarrier and decides to hitch a ride in one of the jets taking off. I could be wrong though.

That first picture of big green looking all sad is an absolutely great shot. In the B Roll footage you can see how much Ruffalo is enjoying himself and really connecting with the Hulk. Just a match made in heaven really.

I heard that it takes place during when Banner first hulks out on the Hellcarrier and creates a mess there and that the jet belongs to SHIELD.

Because as hulk and Thor are fightIng this plane shoots at hulk to distract him so hulk jumps to it and destroys it then falls to the ground while the pilot parachutes away

The thing is, the rest of the team aren't a living breathing weapon of mass destruction.
Depending on how you define that I'd say Thor is. The difference with him it's not hard to crank up the intensity of the threat, seeing how he's not limited to Earth, so I agree with your point with Hulk.

The most interesting thing about Hulk is the dualistic part of Banner/Hulk, but after Avengers that might not be such a big conflict anymore. Hulk should also be relatively accepted by the world so we're pretty much just left with him being a very powerful hero.

I really hope you're speculating and didn't just write a blatant, non-tagged spoiler outside the spoiler thread...

I just think he has a lot of presence and that would have really pushed the film above and beyond. I am interested to see what Joss does with Ruff. I see a very reserved banner in him and that should work out.

There is just something to be said for recasting. Like I don't care how much better a Tony Stark such and such actor is, recasting RDJ would suck for the very same reason. As for Norton, he did the best he could with the material(it's not like he had Joss around). Bana is by far the worst hulk.

Very true, people are far too critical on Ed's performance without realizing that Leterrier is certainly no Favreau, Whedon (character director), or Ken Branagh (character director).

Without Favreau, Branagh, and Whedon's direction who knows how good of a job RDJ, Hemsworth, and Mark Ruffalo would've done.

But didn't Norton rewrite a lot of script and even direct some scenes himself?

Another reason to hate Ari Arad and his disastrous influence! Haha

Norton is a good enough actor to give a great performance without the aid of a great actors director. To me he just seemed jaded and like he sleep walked through the performance. He came no where near making the role his own. Maybe it was because of all the behind the scenes ********.

If Marvel had waited on making Hulk's solo film for the MCU and had better creative minds been involved along with a credible effects company and with Mark having been attached to the role from the beginning, it certainly would have made it more interesting and cohesive in following his character's journey into the Avengers.

I think that performance was probably because of the type of Banner he wanted to portray, I know he seemed a bit dreary but that also lines up with how I envision Banner's personality.

That's my take on it as well. His Banner is someone that's mentally exhausted from the constant threat of the monster inside him. Someone that spends his life preventing himself from getting too emotional about anything won't exactly have much personality flair.

A Hulk sequel should definitely feature Leader as a main villain, probably bring on Rick Jones as an ally who befriends Hulk. Probably recast Doc Samson since Ty Burrell played him before he got all big. Give Samson the superhuman powers as well, and make him kind of a rival/friend to Bruce.

Exactly, it seems like Ruffalo is going to be a more "edgy" Banner but I think both of those takes fit the different depictions of Banner in the comics.

I agree with everything in this post, especially the inclusions of The Leader, Rick Jones, and Doc Samson.
