I think that's because it feels like you're just watching the life of Peter Parker, like in the comics. The main story feels like it's just another arc. That's why the theatrical cut feels like so coherent, it focuses on the story and just the story. The extra stuff is unnecessary to the story, but it shows us different, everyday sides to things, like when Saleem got deported.:woot: Or when Peter got mad at the usher, or when he was drawing in college. What are your favorites?

^Harry scene too, shows their relationship, but not needed

I think you described perfectly how i feel about SM 2.1

Just..perfectly

I just love everything, the birthday was spot on! I loved Jame's Harry and is always nice to see more of him.

The elevator was even more funny.

Liked the scene with MJ and her friends.

The college one too!

Almost everything is perfect, the personal story.

Although it didn't add anything of substance to the movie, I loved the addition of Ock and Spidey crashing into that office and Ock picks Spidey up and starts slamming him wall to wall.

Man...I wasn't expecting that scene and when it happened I couldn't close my mouth, too much awesomeness to describe.

"I do that all the time, it never works."
"Slow elevator..."

"Peter, can't you understand how I feel? I want this man dead, like you want the guy who killed your Uncle Ben dead."

"It maintains the illusion."
"Oh, I understand..." (Witty Peter!)

Raimi's lack of interest in SM3 is probably the reason why we don't have 3.1 but what's keeping Sony to release those scenes? I don't understand that.

That, the extended action scenes and Peter drawing.

Meh. The Peter/Harry stuff is the only one that belongs in my opinion. The other action stuff like Spidey getting smashed by a moving train and recovering in two seconds was silly and the MJ/friend scene was way too chick flickish to belong in a Spider-Man/action movie. The original elevator scene was also funnier

That was also awesome...wish we could get a SM3.1 so badly though.:csad:

You and a bazillion other Spidey fans who have been asking for it since 2007. I think all hope has been given up at this point. If it was going to happen it would have by now.

Honestly, I don't think a 3.1 would had saved the movie for those who don't liked it.

Same with the new series.

I want a Spider-Man 1.1 too. Maybe for it's 15th anniversary in a few years.

It would. Harry forgiving Peter is better done than the butler bit. How Venom and Sandman team up is better. There is more development of Sandman with his daughter. More development of Eddie's obsession with Gwen. And lots more: http://whateveraspidercan.com/2014/05/20/list-spider-man-3-deleted-scenes/

I think it would benefit the movie but I think asm2 would benefit more. I think asm1 and asm2 and asm3 would all benefit but at the same time it is not going to make them has good has the great sm2.

ASM3? Have you traveled into the future and seen it? ;) Rhetorical question. I don't want to start a TASM discussion here.

Spider-Man 3 is the only Spidey movie that would benefit from the existing deleted material we know is available. The bulk of it's issues would be solved by them (save for MJ, Sandman killing Uncle Ben). The others are like the Spider-Man 2 cut. Adding some material that doesn't change the overall quality of the movie.

Still wouldn't solve deus ex coma (Harry in a coma, gone for half the film), the dance, MJ being dumb, MJ breaking up with SPIDERMAN under duress, the weirdest interpretation of Gwen Stacy we'll ever see, Flint Marko accidentaly not really killing uncle ben instead of the carradine bloke except Flint wasn't at fault either so nobody had to bear the guilt! Yay!! Oh, and little venom. I don't think any scene could make sandman and venom work together, they're just not thematically related, there's no cohesion there!

You're right in saying those scenes would make the movie better, but there's a lot inherently wrong with the film that you can't scrub away. SM 3.1 would still be better than TASM 2.1, but I think both wouldn't really change anyone's opinion on the film. Maaaybe make both feel more natural!!

Unfortunately, doesn't make sense to release spider-man 3.1 due to the reboot series, it'd be weird for sony to go back to the other universe now in any shape or form, I'd imagine they'd cop flack for it.

SM3 looks like a good movie gone bad though, there's a gem there, I'm just not sure if some scenes would be able to find it.

The exact same thing can be said about TASM 1 and 2 and since we already had our discussion on 1 and most people agree with me here 2 has god knows how many scenes and alternate takes that we're important to the story and characters. We can't just ignore the two movies. We know there are a couple movie even some more that are missing from the list.

No the same thing can't be said about TASM 1 and 2, and you can ignore the two movies when the material being added makes no difference which it doesn't. Whereas the Spider-Man 3 cut, it does solve several issues that people have with them movie. Stop bringing up the TASM movies in here all the time.

Now drop it. This is one thread that won't be polluted with talk of the TASM movies.

No, the same thing CAN be said about TASM 1 and mostly TASM 2 because there are mostly scenes missing in those two movies that can connect the story and can help with the characters and the plot even for 2. The directors cut for 2 can help with the characteristics of every characters, the relationships with every character, the connections with the story, etc. that's everything that is missing in this movie and with what yurka and teekay said you can't deny that we need the directors cut.

You really can't ignore the two films and most people reading the comics and who signed the petition can agree with me

It's like you want to be banned. How many times have you had probation now? You don't know how to follow the rules do you, even when you're told.

You're reported.

Spider-Knight, this is NOT a thread for The Amazing Spider-Man. Stop talking about it in here! Have you not learned from my prior warnings? Keep it up, and I'm banning you from this thread.

Thank you, Spider-Fan

Let this thread resume it's discussion of the brilliance of the Raimi Spider-Man movies.

One of my favorite things about the trilogy was Dr. Curt Connors, although my username is Doc Ock he is actually my second favorite Spidey villain after The Lizard (I love reptiles...). I loved Connors and Peters developing relationship, and was really looking forward to seeing the character's future unfold.

My favorite character from the franchise has to be Harry Osborn.

James simply killed and gave us the best Harry portrayal so far.
