Oh, so we're playing that game?

By the way, I see Raimi's early Spidey influence in terms of Spider-man himself. In the Lee/Romita stories, Spidey thought much more about saving the day as opposed to jokes, and that really showed in the Raimi movies. Some people are always looking for quips because they see it as his defining trait, but IMO that's not the essence of Spidey.

Not the essence but part of his personality that we love.

Agreed. And it is not like he never quipped ever either. If he never did then I would have a problem.

That's right. Part of his personality is that he makes jokes just to make light of himself, make relief of his psyche, distract his enemies, and hide his fear so his enemies wouldn't know they got the upper hand.

Also during the lee/romita run andrew was close to that personality

Just take out Sandman and Uncle Ben Murder Revamp and the movie would have more time to breath.

Honestly thought Sandman was one of the best things about the movie. Visually he was great, Hayden gave a solid performance but his character had a lot more potential.

I do agree but it's possible to make a good Sym/Venom movie in one shot.

In this case removing Sandman and making Venom play a more large role throught the movie then I think that it would work.

Really wanted them to make the symbiote arrival a big deal. Figured they would have gone with something similar to the TAS for it. I always thought they were setting it up and hinting at it to come in Spider-Man 2 was JJ mentioned that his son was an astronaut.

In the Spider-Man 2 pre production days some fans actually thought John Jameson was going to be Man Wolf!

Oh yeah, and Aunt Carnage for Spider-Man 3. That was the funniest of all.

Man, nothing tops the hype days for Raimi's Spider-Man movies. Those were fun times when all Spidey fans were united in supporting great movies.

I see what you mean and I love his jokes, espicially in SSM and the USM comic, but I just love the struggling, human side of him more. What makes me love Spider-Man the most is not that he makes light of things or that he stays positive in the midst of struggle, but that he holds steady, and gives up the things he wants the most to do what he believes in. And this SUCKS, but he never gives up. That's why I love Spider-man 2 so much. He DOES give up, but he learns that he will always be Spider-man and that with great power, there must also come great responsibility!

Yeah, he also never loses sight of the importance of Uncle Ben on his life. Another key important trait to his character.

I remember that I think they talked about that on the dvd's diertors comitary thing. I also remember they said something about that they thought about having both goblin and doc ock in the first spider man movie but they thought they both needed to be in there own movie. I think that turned out to be a good idea. It is interesting to think with movies how they would have turned out if they did things differently. Like if they had both of them in the first 1 what would the second one have been like. I know they even said something about almost having black cat to.

That's right. Goblin and Ock were originally planned for the third movie, but Raimi very correctly felt he wouldn't do the movie justice by having three origins in there.

I still wonder how Spider-Man 4 would have turned out with John Malkovich as Vulture and Anne Hathaway as Black Cat.

Wasn't for the first,Joker?

I remember hearing that on SM1 special features.

I was watching SM1 with commentary the other day, and Sam Raimi (I think) brought up how in the beginning of the movie, (paraphrasing) Harry wanted to get away from his social status and name, wanting to hide the car he was in from people, and the last time we see Harry, he's going towards that car, that name, his father's legacy.

I just thought that was interesting. (I probably got all of that wrong because I was like, half listening :funny:)

I dare someone to post, write, or draw to this.:woot:

^And that's awesome. Just shows how much work went into the characters.

Yeah Harry was all like "Dad, these are public school kids. I'm not going to show up for a field trip in the Rolls". Norman very rightly said "Don't ever be ashamed of who you are".

While I am sure anne Hathaway would have been great considering that she stole the show in dark knight rises has cat women and black cat and cat women are pretty similer charaters.
