Aw gosh, you guys have got me all nostalgic for those old Spidey games. That's a good thing in my book! 2000-2004, there were some memorable Spidey games cropping up. Even some of the handheld ones like Mysterio's Menace were excellent.

I got bullied so much for liking Spider-Man but it didn't matter to me. It was all worth it.

I feel ya, man. I think it's worth it, too. Spidey's given me a lot, undoubtedly influenced a lot of things I've done for the better.

Oh man, reading through these posts is taking me back to the best days of my childhood.

I never got to play too many games as a kid, but the one game I cherished more than anything was SM2. I still remember seeing the E3 footage and the official trailers before its release.

I'm sure some of you remember this:

I think they had that trailer on the sm 2 dvd has while.

Guys, you all should watch this video. It perfectly describes why Tobey, and the Raimi movies, are the best.

I just didn't care much for his SM1 review but overall I like this guy a lot.

So I thought I had all 3 movies in but I don't...Somehow I only have Spider-Man 2.1. There goes my marathon.

I finally got the trilogy on Blu-ray today, and it's the original 2007 set with all three individual cases and the box they're held in. I'm going to do a trilogy marathon tomorrow, but I started up SM2.1 tonight because I've never actually seen this extended edition of the second film. Is it just me, or do a few scenes uses different takes and/or material in place of the theatrical presentation? I swear the conversation between Peter and Harry in Aunt May's house was almost completely different. I also think the scene with Peter and his pizza boss was changed a bit as well.

And speak of the devil, the elevator scene was also completely different, followed by a new scene with Peter drawing is Dr. Conners' class. I guess I can expect more of these new additions and changes to the movie.

I think the harry peter conversation had some of the same stuff but was much longer in the 2.1 and I think the same thing with the elevator to.

You may be right about the Peter and Harry conversation, but the elevator scene with that one guy is completely different.

I would have to watch the movie again. I have watched the movie like 50 times lol but only like 5 times have I watched the 2.1 version.

Which version do you prefer? I can't say for myself because this is my first time seeing 2.1

Same question to anyone who happens to read this post.

I just watched the 2.1 for the first time myself a week ago, really enjoyed it. Generally I'm a sucker for extended editions, because if I love the universe and the characters, having more of it is only a benefit IMO. It gets a bit iffy when you're talking about alternative scenes, because that makes the two versions different, rather than being the same, but with 10 minutes added. The only scene I noticed clearly was the elevator scene which had an entire different conversation. Didn't mind it. There were several scenes where the conversation from the original cut was expanded with more lines, and I'm cool with that.

The only thing I don't prefer about 2.1 is the alternate elevator conversation. I haven't watched the original cut since I got 2.1

Obviously I'd kill for a SM3.1, but I think every Sony Spidey film could benefit from an extended edition and I'd love to see them all revisited.

Aw, dude I loved Mysterio's Menace! One of my first GBA games :)

I agree with others here who prefer the elevator scene in SM2 as opposed to SM2.1. It's the one scene I felt it went a little too over the top.

Also, currently watching SM1 and I just have to say how awesome Jameson is. He may be a bit of a jerk to his employees and Peter, but he doesn't give Peter up as Spider-Man's photographer when Goblin is searching for Spider-Man. It's one of those small character moments that makes me respect characters so much more.

I will watch Spider-Man 2 tonight. It was ages ago. I sometimes underestimate how great of a film that is when I haven't seen it for a long time.

10/10, I have the urge to watch it again today. I won't though. I'll watch TASM2 instead just for the sake of comparision :P Or Spider-Man 1.

One thing I noticed this time was how much more I appreciate Tobey than I thought I would. He portrays the warmth of Peter as well as his Parker Luck so perfectly. I didn't actually miss the more fun side of Spider-Man.

I also didn't dislike Kirsten as much as I thought I would. Granted, she's stil far from the ideal MJ if you ask me, but still better than I remembered her as.

There are still scenes that I cringe at, such as the obvious one: "Nothing will stand in my way! NOTHING!". Such moments were a little hard to watch but other than that I find the tone to be pretty much perfect.

I didn't dislike the A.I. Arms in Ock's Mind thing as much this time. I simply accepted it.

The film went by pretty fast. I never found myself bored in any moment of the film. It flows very well.

I didn't remember before how many times Peter and other characters are very teary eyed. It was almost too much, but that's just a nitpick.

Molina was as much of a badass as Doc Ock as I remembered him as. However, I wouldn't say that Doc Ock is the best Marvel villain portrayed on film (I'd rank him below Magneto and possibly Loki, and I have a feeling Ultron will be better as well). It's pretty clear that Doc Ock isn't meant to have much of a spot light in this film.

I also must say that SM2 feels ahead of its time. It feels almost like a Marvel Studios film but with a more personal touch.

I need to go back and watch the OT one of these days as well.

Luckily, getting snowed in and having an early start to spring break should help :)

Couldn't agree more, which is why I don't agree with some of the comments on how the first two Raimi films feel dated. They don't feel dated to me. If they were released today, I feel like they'd fit right in with the MCU.

I don't think it's a coincidence either, considering that Joss Whedon said back in 2012 that the first two Spider-Man movies are among his favorites. I think the word he used was "unmatched," I believe?

Nice review, Oscorp. I always got the impression you were lukewarm on Raimi's movies.

:woot: Nice yeah sm 2 is really great. Its hard for me to even nick pick has the movie is so so great.

During the filming of the first Spider-man,well I'm not sure what exactly went on but I know that Tobey and Kirsten either dated for a brief period or had a few one night stands. I bring this up because the other day I watched the film with the commentary on and Kirsten kept going on about how Tobey was cute in this scene,or said something adorable in that scene. You could tell she was a bit smitten with him. lol :ilv:

That gif of them at the awards show though lmao

The one where Kirsten kind of bumps Tobey away from the microphone to talk and he throws her a dirty look lol?

I don't remember if I've ever seen that gif before. Do either of you have it available to post?? That sounds hilarious, I'd love to see it.
