Spider-Man The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft - - - - Part 13

I remember when the first TASM movies came out, lots of people turned against this trilogy. After that reboot was done and with the new MCu spidery, its such a relief to see people really appreciate these movies. To me, they're not just great superhero movies, they're great movies (yes even SM3 with all its flaws. You could feel the Passion Sam injected in these films, the cinematography, writing, the score and characters. As much as I can fan boy about the MCU, I feel they lack personalty.

Sam really understood the character of Spiderman more so than any other director. SM2 will for me stand as the greatest Superhero movie ever made. I'm excited for Dr Strange 2.

That's the fanboy cycle. When something new comes out they trash the previous version. That happened when Batfleck came along and people turned on the TDK trilogy. It happened with every new version of Superman. Gotta trash the old versions to make the new one look better.

I'm watching the 1981 solo cartoon again, and that Sidewinder character talks like Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, it made the episode more entertaining.

Now this is a name I haven't seen in quite a while.
If you want, I can make your avatar animated again.

EDIT: I don't remember when this happened, but size limit went up to 250kb.

I fought tooth and nails with folks in here that Marc webb did not understand Spider-Man and I'm one of the few whos likes TASM2.

So, uh... how about that Raimi Doc Ock coming back news, huh? :hehe:

How do you think Harry learned that Peter photographed Spider-Man?

Spider-Man 2 clearly showed that he read the Daily Bugle, so it was quite obvious.

He also told MJ in the first movie that he was Spider-Man's "unofficial photographer".

Does anyone have Sam and Ivan Raimi's very early notes on Spider-Man 3? It'd be dated 2005 or maybe 04. I used to have it on my old computer until it crashed.

It's basically an in-depth analysis of what the themes were along with mapping out the plot and how it all connects with the characters.

Is this before or after Avi Arad forced him to include the symbiote/Venom?

Before. This would be from the very early writing process, so it’d still be Vulture.

I remember it notes Peter developing an ego and falling to the sin of greed as one of the themes - so seemingly that was an aspect of where Peters character would have gone even before the symbiote inclusion.

I’m also pretty sure it had this piece of concept art attached to it.

Ah, when Vulture was originally attached. Gotcha.

I'm guessing some of it could be in Spider-Man Chronicles book, but I remember reading somewhere that Harry wasn't going to become the Goblin and instead play a behind-the-scenes villain. I can't recall much else.

This is sad, but true. I remember that some people, here especially, didn't even want to hear Elfmans theme anymore when TASM was coming out because it reminded them of the Raimi movies and they even wanted less "cool looking" swing scenes to aim for a more "realistic feel". It's good to see the Raimi movies continued to be labeled as the best, because there really isn't any live action version that comes close. Like you said, TDK trilogy as well. I see people say it's a terrible representation of the character when in reality, it's without question the closest we've gotten in live action.

Dont know why, but I've watched the Raimi films quite a few times in the past 6 months and I'm about to pop Spider-Man 2 in once again tonight. insanely rewatchable even after all of these years.

I get a tad nervous whenever I'm about to re-watch Spider-Man 2, worried it won't hold up as I remembered it, but sure enough I come out loving it more than ever everytime. Also finding even new things to appreciate.

That was in the first movie. Spider-Man 2 is set two years later, and it became common knowledge by then. Even in Spider-Man 3 Brock knew Peter was Spider-Man's photographer;

Brock: "From now on I will be taking shots of you for the Bugle"
Spider-Man: "They got a guy"
Brock: "Who Parker? Just between us his stuff makes you look bloated. You know a little chunky"

Eddie's dumb as hell. He really photoshopped a picture of Spider-Man that Peter took himself and thought he wouldn't get busted.

Anyway, happy 19th anniversary to Spider-Man 1 today! Hopeful for some new promotion and merchandise for the 20th next year.
