Spider-Man The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft - - - - Part 13

Experiencing The Dark knights marketing and release is still the main example I always use when describing a film that manages to not only live up to the hype, but exceed it. It had a never before seen marketing campaign, and then once the film released, it's like all of it paid off better than any of us could have imagined. I have seen hundreds of movies in the cinema in my life, and The Dark Knight is the one where I could literally feel the genre change that night once it was over. You knew you had witnessed a game changer.

It's my favorite film of all time, honestly.

To be honest, I didn't do any of the viral marketing stuff. I just did basic trailers and seeing the movie. Maybe played the tie in game lol! So I don't have nostalgia for any of that

I think TDK and SM-2 had incredible marketing— and both movies blew people away. I distinctly remember seeing the SM-2 teaser on the showing for Return of the King (the Peter and MJ scene at the cafe when it’s interrupted by Doc Ock) and it caught my attention.

On a SM-2 related note, LaLa Land Records is releasing a 3-CD expansion of Danny Elfman’s score for the film. And yes, it includes the additional tracks written by Christopher Young (who scored the iconic runaway train sequence and part of the bank heist) and John Debney.

Honestly, given Sony’s recent flops with their spin-offs, I think we’re closer than ever to a Raimi Spider-Man 4. Give us a Hobgoblin story and Mayday Parker too

If they were desperate desperate, maybe. But I'm still of the belief that it will never realistically happen. Especially not when the MCU is getting its own Spider-Man 4 in two years.

I think Sony is desperate for a hit; and a Raimi Spider-Man 4 is guaranteed to make money.

Oh I agree. I just don't think that Sony executives, given recent comments, would be smart enough to make such a decision. Plus I don't believe Feige would want it to happen when he's currently producing MCU Spider-Man 4.

With a little better executive leadership, we could have had 3 warring factions of Marvel movies, with FOX maintaining X-Men and Fantastic Four long enough to do crossovers with them, while Sony cranked out their own interconnected movies starring Spidey (presumably Garfield's version) AND Spidey-related characters. We sort of had that for like 4 years, but ultimately the other guys just couldn't keep up.

In another multiverse, Sony had a great Spider-Man 3, which led to at least Spider-Man 4 and 5. Then Fox released X-Men 4, 5 and 6 instead of those spin offs and Fox also made great Fantastic 4 films which led their two teams (X-Men/Fantastic 4) in a crossover film - around the time of Avengers 1 or 2.

I'm interested how will those eras of Marvel films would be represented in Secret Wars especially when they interact with the Avengers/og MCU actors.

I think a lot of fans thought Lizard would make sense to have but it also would still be real hard (despite, even considering after Gollum) to do the Lizard well with the tech, and the depiction we got in TASM that supported that view.

Lizard didn't work in TASM because his design was terrible, and his motivation stupid. I'm very sure Raimi could have done him justice especially if he had brought the family aspect of Connors in, which TASM ended up cutting entirely. Effects wise, it also could have worked.
