The Dark Knight Rises The Official Jim Gordon / Gary Oldman Thread

I could see a scenario where bane( especially if he's working for gpd, but even if he's not) catches onto the fact that Gordon isn't "giving it his all" in trying to apprehend batman... Which could lead to some reverse interrogation/ maybe some dramatic torture scene involving bane/ Gordon which could be quite terrifying and heartwrenching... Think of it.. Gordon being forced to endure
even more for batman with the audience fixated on banes/ Gordon interaction. I think it's quite possible.

Be intresting to see Gordon getting pressure from the mayor, media, fellow cops and general public over why he hasn't caught Batman yet. It would put him in a very difficult situation.

Gordon's likely going to be in some serious duress in this movie, considering he's torn between being in charge of apprehending Batman and being Batman's ally. Lots of great stuff for Oldman to chew on, and that's not even getting to Bane or Catwoman or any other character.

Something I've been trying to figure out here for awhile now, but, does Gordon even remember consoling Bruce as a child? In TDK, it seems like he wasn't even sure that was Bruce in the Lamborghini.

You would think that the murders of The Wayne Family would be a pivotal moment in Gotham history. According to Ras Al Ghul, it certainly was. I just wonder if Gordon really thought about it, if he couldn't begin to put the pieces together.

One of the great scenes in Year One is when Gordon goes to interview Bruce about being Batman on a hunch. I would love to see a scene like that where Bale can really go into pompous, playboy mode.

To be fair, Gordon was kind of busy at that moment and the moment after GHH was blown up

It's a bit late in the timeline and inappropriate, considering Gordon is completely on Batman's side.

If there were any further confrontations between the two, given that this is the end, I'd like for them to address their first encounter. Perhaps even imply that Gordon now has a good idea of who Bruce really is, Batman or not.

Very true. But this is the Wayne family we're talking about here. It was news when he returned, it was in the paper and everything. It just seems odd that Gordon wouldn't have had any cursory memory of consoling him at such a profound moment in the city's history.

The kid goes off the grid for years, than within weeks of his return a vigilante with ties to Bruce's childhood friend emerges. Gordon had quite a lot of things to do in BB & TDK. In this film as the newly appointed commissioner however, he'll be tasked with one thing and one thing only. Even if he's not overly concerned with bringing him in, he's going to have to pretend like he is. And besides, this man saved his and his families lives, it surely would be enough to peek my interest as to who he really might be...

I would love to see more Bruce and Gordon interactions.

I'm horribly excited for Gordon in this film.

He's always been my favorite character

I am excited for Gordon as well, his character has been given so much to work with in this series, unlike the older movies where he did absolutely nothing. I don't think there has ever been a movie death that I was so upset about than Gordon's "death" in TDK. He is the most relatable character in this series, because like the rest of us, he is just stuck in the middle of all the chaos, watching it without actually being able to do anything but still doing whatever he can to help.

A scene between Gordon and Bruce would be really nice to see. There are so many possibilities that I don't care how it happens, I just want to see some Gordon/Bruce interaction.

Also, the strain on Gordon and Batman's relationship is going to be interesting to see. Gordon is going to be throwing everything the police force has at Batman, and I'm sure at some point he will be overwhelmed by it all, and become angry at Gordon. Gordon, as well, will feel bad for what he is doing, but he knows that he can't stop, or their whole plan falls apart.

The teaser featuring Gordon in a hospital bed severely injured and emotionally broken with the absence of Batman's presence in Gotham City.

Also his conversation with Bruce not only expresses the unique partnership that was established in Batman Begins but also how important Gordon realizes the need for Batman is .

I can't wait to see the scene in film next year .

You definitely get a sense of the weight of Gordon's words as he's lying there. Strong and pointed delivery from Oldman.

From what I can make out, Gordon doesn't seem to look all that beat up on the outside. So whatever has happened to him, it must be a severe internal injury.

Bane didn't do anything to Gordon to put him in the hospital.

It was the damn chicken vindaloo curry he had from the night before :woot:

It's possible Gordon got shot. But I dont think he'll die. I dont think Bruce, Alfred, Gordon (or Catwoman) will die in this movie.

Everyone else is expendable.

Gordon is in the hospital because he got up one morning and decided it was time to shave the mustache.....thats where bane comes in and stops the madness and puts gordan in the hospital for his own good...saving the iconic mustache in the process

I'm glad Bane ****ed him up so. :cmad:

Soo what exactly did Gordon say in the teaser trailer, i found it hard to make out, can anyone help?

"We were in this together, and then you were gone. Now this evil rises....the Batman must come back."
"What if he doesn't exist anymore?"
"He must...he must..."

He probably knows at this point that Batman is Bruce Wayne - you can see that his visitor is wearing a suit (his hand is next to Gordon's), he knows his visitor is Batman, and not everyone would go around wearing a really nice expensive suit. :oldrazz:

Oldman will get an Oscar for being Gordon for TDKRises, count on it...

Just these few seconds were epic, so much emotion with this relationship between Bruce/Batman and Gordon in these three films.

Best thing Nolan did for this series, even expands what we've greatly got on pages for the last 20 years...

Not sure how I feel about Gordon knowing Bruce is Batman, if that indeed is the case.

He won't even be nominated, unless he pulls off something even more amazing than his already stellar performance in TDK. Setting that aside, Nolan's emphasis on Gordon in this franchise is his greatest gift to comic book fans IMHO. The character just never received the kind of respect he deserved from Hollywood until this particular trilogy.

Looks like Gazza's going to play a big part in this one, going by the billing at the end.

Just wanted to say Oldman's Jim is perfect and the best I've seen in any medium (save maybe for Loeb and Sale's slightly less-weak variation on Miller's otherwise great Gordon). Seeing him in the hospital bed, does not make me sad as I know he won't die....he's Batman's last link to the outside world. It makes me feel awe of the threat for Bane and immediately gives this film gravitas thanks to his speech.

I personally look forward to him discovering the boy he consoled (Bruce Wayne) has become his closest ally and friend after the last movie, as the trailer implies.
