What do you think about that willi?

I like it as a basis. I like that Lex does start changing his physicality to try to match Superman. But there should be more to it as well. Lex should be a very complicated person- deeply troubled, but also brilliant. I like the idea that he could've been just brilliant and helping the world but his insecurities and wrong ideas about some things, as well as certain factors in his life (e.g. family), make him make incredibly wrong, selfish and/or petty decisions.

I think Lex should be that corporate big wig who thinks everyone is beneath him because he is the CEO rich and brilliant.(We all know one of those people) Superman in his eyes is the one person he does not feel that way because of obvious reasons. But he hates it and thats why he must destroy him.

Lex is not in this movie. I've pretty much accepted that.

MEET LEX LUTHOR

MORRISON: Superman is us at our best, and Lex is us at our worst…but they're both us. He's selfish, he's inwardly directed, he's greedy, he's egotistical, he pretends to hate Superman but really he wants to look like Superman, he's constantly chugging energy drinks, he talks crap…[Laughs] I wanted to make him an embodiment of all our worse traits. They're what make us human, so that's what makes Lex human and relatable. That's why Lex Luthor's such a great villain: we all recognize those traits.

MORALES: Lex's weight is one of those little subliminal things. It adds a layer of jealousy and feeling insignificant and insecure about yourself. He's this out-of-shape, snide, condescending jerk who we're too mature now to stuff into a locker when we see him, but we still do it every time in our heads. [Laughs] Luthor's that guy from the electronics store who condescends to you when you ask about the difference between a megabyte and a gigabyte.

The following is a panel description from the script of ACTION COMICS #1:

…Silhouetted against the screen are two of our principle players - Lois Lane's dad GENERAL SAM LANE and Superman's arch-villain LEX LUTHOR. Lane is the archetypal tough American dad. Luthor, like Superman, is a little younger, perhaps a little heavier and sturdier. I like the idea that he was a little fat until his jealousy of Superman drove him to the gym to become the trim, muscular Luthor of the Silver Age and more recent stories. So he's not obese but he's veering a little more in the visual direction of Luthor's heavier build as it appeared in stories from 1941 to 1959.

Personally I prefer a fit and healthy Lex.

His jelousy of Superman shouldn't come from something superficial. It's about power, not his ability to eat cakes. Not even 40! :p

Seriously though, I always preferred it when Luthor was portrayed as a man with immense self control and will power... That's how he keeps up his mask of philanthropy.

And it's hard to imagine a guy like that having no will power enough to keep his body in shape.

Any 'image' jelousy should only come from the fact that he is stuck being bald, which is something even he with all his money and power, can't control.

" Michael Cerveris ... Lex Luthor (rumored)"

According to IMDb

That seems to have been submitted because of the rumour (on movienewz) that Cerveris was being considered. Though the rumour was it was for the sequel.

Lex is not in this movie. I've pretty much accepted that.

I've accepted he won't be a major presence but I am still open to the possibility that he will cameo towards the end. Like a reaction to the public's acceptance of Superman's presence on Earth.

Or, at least, his influence being shown throughout Metropolis (ie. his company.)

I think if there is any truth to the Cerveris story was that it came from word that they are looking for an actor now whom they will need for a sequel. But Snyder and co. are looking now because the actor is needed for a cameo at the end of this movie.

sounds about right. since this is superman begins, i guess they will set up lex at the very end for the sequel.

:) I like hearing your ideas, makes me feel at ease for some reason

I hope your right

I want Leonardo Di Caprio to play Lex Luthor!

How do you instantly differentiate the past franchise from the reboot? You don't put Lex in.

If Lex IS at the end, I think we will know for sure before the movie's out... could something like that really be kept a secret for a year and a half?

Some cast member will probably tweet "Just shot a scene with Lex Luthor today!" like that dude that spilled the beans about Lizard.

If it's an isolated scene, they can easily keep it under wraps. If such a scene exists I doubt it would involve many people.

Nobody knew for sure about Sam Jackson till it came right up on it.

A Moriarty type presence would be cool.

We should at least see a LexCorp building in the background as well during the film, just to establish his presence even if he and Superman haven't met yet.

This has been overstated, but it is THE DAMN TRUTH!

there can be only one... whether they use him in this one or the next:

Oscar Isaac was just cast as the lead in the new Coen Bros movie. Snag him now WB while he's cheap!

Seriously though, that guy is an extremely underrated and versatile actor who just happens to be aesthetically perfect for Lex, imo. And of course he's already worked with Snyder.

Just shave his head and he's good to go.

So you like the idea, I take it. :o

I think the suggestion always puts a smile on my face :p

Was watching the trailer for 'The Debt' the other day, and thought this guy was worth a mention:

Martin Csokas (Aeon Flux, Kingdom of Heaven, Lord of the Rings)
