I have always thought Henry's old 'Tudors' co-star Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who was great as the unscrupulous Henry VIII, would make a fantastic Luthor. He's handsome, alluring and charming, but he also has something dangerous about him, something very predatory. He oozes presence.

Shave his head and he'd be perfect. He could play Luthor as a modern-day American Henry VIII. He would be awesome.

jon hamm is a tv actor before he got film roles

same with bryan cranston

michael c hall is phenomenal and he is a tv actor

Personally I'm still waiting to hear from Meryl Streep that she has been officially cast as Lex Luthor. This will be the performance of her lifetime.

Meyers is'nt some unknown actor he won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Elvis Presley and was Nominated Twice for His Lead Performance in The Tudors

I thought in this picture he looked more like Mr. Clean.

Considered Jonathan Rhys Meyers, but I don't know if casting him as Luthor would seem like too much of a retread of The Tudors.

Does anyone think Luthor might not be in Man of Steel at all?

I have no idea, but it seems like thats correct. The Lex casting is just as big as the Superman and Lois casting. I would think it would have been done early if they wanted a big name.
( thats not to say we won't get a cameo of Lex, possibly from a distance or from the back. No big name needed if thats the case )

Meyers seems to live on the edge, and that gives him the intensity that worked so well in his role as Henry and would also give his Lex a touch of mad brilliance.

Lex, after all, walks a thin line between genius and insanity.

Unless they only intend on having him in one scene at the end of the film, and are having trouble finalising because of the complicated nature of the possibility of a sequel.

I would prefer an older, more dignified Lex Luthor.

At the very least someone older than Amy Adams.

Actors like Viggo Mortensen and Jason Isaacs are bloody perfect for Luthor.

i really like Meyers he is perfect age at 34 not too young and not too old but young enough looking to be child hood friends of henry's clark kent

he plays a great villain and has chemsitry with henry already

I'd love Meyers, but wouldn't people just rag about it being a Tudors reunion? But, it does seem to be working with Batman, so who knows. He'd definitely be good anyway.

Lex needs to look older and more mature than Superman.

Rhys-Meyers looks boyish next to Cavill in that clip. Still not feeling him for Luthor.
