Sewell was mentioned a while back, I think he'd make a good Lex. Has a very villainous look about him.

I was upset a while back that we might not see Luthor in this film, but now I can see how it's a good thing.

If this film is successful at reinventing Superman for the GA, then saving Lex until a sequel makes sense. Then they will know going in that despite the fact it's Lex Luthor again, this Lex will be as different from Hackman's Lex as Heath's Joker was from Nicholson's.

If you use him as a villain before that expectation is cemented, people are just going to expect more of the same and possibly be put off.
 
I can picture it now. A bunch of bank robbers wearing masks of bald people are getting ready for a bank heist. The robbers have a conversation about their employer, Lex Luthor. They describe that he shaves his head to symbolize power. Each robber takes another robber out. The last two are ambushed by the bank manager who has a shotgun. After taking him out we see a stand off between the last two. One gets ran over by a bus and then the manager talks about morals... yadda yadda... What doesn't kill you makes you balder or something... Bus leaves no one notices... Fanboys will point this out as absurd which will lead to a heated discussion on an internet message board. The End.

We didn't get an announcement. It was a rumor that was confirmed by the young actress' agent. The reason we didn't get an announcement is because it's a tiny role and they don't make announcement for every tiny role.

I gather you can probably see where this is going in regards to a role like Lex Luthor....
 
It is entirely possible for Lex to have a tiny role as well.

No, it's not. Lex is inherently a major role, regardless of screen time.

Barring some Ra's-like ploy, the character does not appear to have screen time in the film -- and that's been apparent for some time now.
 
lex is already in mos. if u don't know this, you haven't seen any real script elements.

Guys, i don't think Lex is in the movie. Zod is going to completely overshadow Lex. Since it's the orgins, Lex may appear in the sequal.

Kind of like Batman BEgins and TDK, and Joker appears in TDK instead of the origin story
 
If lex is indeed being saved for a sequel, where he can properly be fleshed out and given his due as superman's arch villain... Then it makes one wonder how far along Snyder, Goyer, Nolan, et al have this series mapped out.

Agreed completely. I'm like 99.9% sure that even if Lex is mentioned or a background figure, there will be no actual actor playing him until a second film.
 
you guys are wayyyy off it's not even funny. lex is going to be throughout the film. any of the scenes that tease with lex were being filmed inside a studio. his OTHER scenes were filmed outside but you don't know what you were seeing fully. he is already cast but yet you guys haven't figured it out. mind boggling.
 
Care to enlighten us, LeXcalibur? Is it Tahmoh Penikett?
 
no. but we have heard the name of actor playing lex already. he was cast a long time ago, and people didnt know it.
