Most recent pic of Meloni assuming post MOS.

Hmmm...

He looks a little balder than usual...

Well, I think he could pull Lex off and would like to see Meloni play something more than a typical military officer. Plus, it originally looked like he was playing Sam Lane and I'd rather he play the freakin' Toyman than Thunderbolt Lane.

I'd rather he not be the stereotypical "Kill all the superfreaks!" military type. But I guess we'll see.

dont think he is lex at all

lex is one of the most popular comic book villains ever i think they would after a bigger name than chris meloni lol

Meloni's col Hardy and Lex will be allies in the sequel...Right Said Fred battle Superman! XD

It's best that the military official who has it in for Superman not be the father of his girlfriend. Showing that the military might be threatened by Superman is fine, but doing it exactly the same way Marvel does it with Hulk is just pointless. If Sam Lane is a general, maybe they could instead make him a supporter of Superman.

Superman is the biggest comic book hero ever. Henry Cavill is not a big name. Batman second, Bale wasn't a big name actor. Spider-Man third, Andrew Garfield isn't a big name. Joker is one of the biggest conic book villains. Heath Ledger wasn't a big name.

R'as Al Ghul was an obscure villain, Liam Neeson was a name actor.

I'm not saying he is Lex, but you're reasoning isn't exactly bulletproof.

I'll give you everything except the Ledger part...Heath was a big name.

Yeah, Ledger was a big name, just not in the Academy sense pre-Brokeback Mountain.

Yes he does.

What I find interesting is that there were spy pics from a distance, where he had hair in the military though.

This interview is a denial but also adds intrigue at the same time.

"When Vulture caught up with the now ex–Law & Order: SVU star at the Public Theater Gala earlier this week, he told us he'd be instead playing a general in the movie. But when we pressed for more information about the role, he said, "I can't tell you, or I'd have to kill you." We did manage to learn that he starts filming at the end of August and he'll shoot his part over the course of five months in locations including Chicago, Vancouver, and Edwards Air Force Base."

Also the fact that you would quit a tv show for a Superman movie, I'd think the role would at least have to be a large one. I'm not saying that means Lex for sure. The role must be decent though right?

Meloni is bald and muscular. He can look threatening and imposing. I want a Lex who is a threat to Superman...not some goofy Gene Hackman. It really pissed me off that he continually refused to wear a bald cap as Lex and we got very few bald scenes of Hackman. I was never really keen on his performance as Lex. Meloni looks like he would be a great Lex...plus he can act

some people quit so that they can do something different. Meloni been on the show for a looooonngggg time. So, getting in a future blockbuster movie is no brainer

He left Law and Order: SVU because contract negotiations broke down. He wanted more money and they said no...I am glad however he came over to Superman and True Blood

Meloni wouldnt be my first choice, but to be fair, he looks more like Lex (to me) than the name actors I would want in the role, plus he can act..
