It does get super annoying when you dismiss actors for no real reason.
pretty much anytime someone suggest an actor majik replies with

"NO'
"Meh"
"Awful Suggestion"
"Please Tell Me Your Joking"
"Ugh"

instead of having a respectful intelligent discussion over why you disagree you treat the users with disrespect and make them feel stupid for even suggesting such a choice

but some men cant be reasoned with some men just like to watch the world burn:yay:

Flick...I like your opinion...
Aw, thanks! I'm glad you've returned from lurker-dom to join us for all this MoS hype. :yay:

What did you think of him in Six Feet Under?
I'm ashamed as a TV fanatic to admit I've never seen Six Feet Under (well, I saw the finale and cried like a baby at it, but that's literally the only episode I've seen, lol). I know it's one I definitely need to see, because I've only heard great things.

LOL...you should have seen some of my SR posts.....:o

I was a viligante on these boards during SR times.

I have changed Showtime. This is the kinder and gentler me. :woot:

It is known Six Feet Under is/was a good show.... at least for the first two season. Watch it! Then let me know. :-)

Michael C Hall would be a great choice

His acting. The writing was fine, he just can't act.

Wow. You know it's one thing to simply dislike an actor for one reason or another. But to say that a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award winner who has been a key part (or the central focus) of two widely acclaimed TV shows "can't act" just sounds like a case of arrogance clouding judgment.

Then again, you praised Snow White and the Huntsman and I believe I've seen you tout questionable actors like Channing Tatum and Taylor Kitsch. I'm starting to think you're just trying to be the Armond White of these boards.

I got it...

Robin Williams!

I would hate for phoenix to be lex

because then he couldn't play joker in the batman reboot

I know that he's been used in GL as Sinestro but considering on how that film went to hell, along with how Chris Evans had played two distinctly different characters from Marvel...I think Mark Strong would be a great candidate for the role:

only issue is they make a JL movie im sure sinestro and luthor would be villains in the movie

How can you be sure? None of us know who the villain(s) will be for JL.

Michael C. Hall seems like a great choice for Luthor, though.

Another thing I'd like to bring up is that whoever plays Lex should of the same caliber that the rest of the cast is. Most of the main cast are Oscar Winners or Nominees. I have nothing against MCH because I've honestly never seen him act...but if he's not a dynamic actor who can hang amongst the ranks of Michael Shannon and Amy Adams, then I think it would cheapen the rich cast they've already got. I'm not saying that whoever plays Lex needs to be an Academy Award nominee, but he needs to be able to hold his own.

MCH and Mark Strong I feel are good choices for a tv show Lex or maybe for a Lex in a Superman movie done in the same vein as recent Marvel films, which have a more fun, comedy feel to them...but it's clear that they want Superman to be more like Nolan's Batfilms, which will more than likely be seen as classics a couple decades from now.

I think MCH is extremely dynamic. He went from such a fragile character as David in Six Feet Under to a monster like Dexter. To me, it doesn't seem like the same actor at all. He is definitely on par with Shannon.

I would just check out clips from Six Feet Under and Dexter if you're curious.

I think he is an interesting choice for Lex.

Mark Strong regularly goes toe-to-toe with A-list, Oscar-calibur actors (and sometimes outshines them), so I'm not sure I get that side of your argument.

And despite not preferring him for Lex, I too believe MCH is a very dynamic actor.

Here's my argument..

My problem with Mark Strong is that the villains he plays are "evil" and I don't mean that in a religious sense. I mean it as in, they are bad "just because". I don't feel like any of the characters he's played are relatable or understandable in the least. There's not much motive behind the actions of his villainous roles and there's no sense that his characters are simply misunderstood.

And that's something that this version of Lex Luthor NEEDS to have in order to distinguish himself from the previous film incarnations. It seems like they're going through great lengths to make sure that Clark, Lois, and maybe even Zod have motives that people can understand. But I've never gotten that from Hackman or Spacey...and I don't think we can get that from someone who is regularly cast in villainous roles, whether it's Mark Strong, Billy Zane, etc.

In my view, this Lex Luthor needs to be played by someone who isn't well versed in playing villainous roles. They should be aiming to cast an actor who can duplicate the kind of dedication to the character of Lex Luthor that Heath Ledger did for the Joker.

I saw a few clips of MCH and while he seems like a competent actor I'm, personally, just not feelin' him...mostly because I still haven't seen him in anything and partly because he hasn't been in many movies.

As for Mark Strong...I actually REALLY liked him as Sinistro. It's the only role I've seen him in that I felt he wasn't a typical bad guy. My problem with him is simply that he's always cast as an antagonist. I don't mind seeing someone who's played disturbed characters who just ended up being on the wrong side of morality, but Mark Strong has become the go-to bad guy...and I don't want Lex to be played by someone like that.

Well, I've said I don't particularly care for him for Lex, so I'm not gonna argue with you on that. I just want to throw in that he's much more than a "competent" actor, imo.

He definitely wasn't a typical bad guy in Body of Lies. But the rest of your argument I understand, since I even said on the previous page that all the recent villain roles he's played has dampened my enthusiasm to see him in the role. But he was my top pick for Lex before all those roles, and if he were cast, I'm still sure he'd nail it. I don't blame you for wanting someone who's not always playing villains, though. I kinda feel the same way, even if that doesn't necessarily rule someone out for me.

Haha, will do! :woot:

Are we talking about the same Michael Shannon who was in "8 mile" with Eminem? If he can share a screen with him, I put money on MCH more then holding his own.

Just because you haven't been in or nominated for an Oscar, doesn't mean you can't act.

No, we're talking about the Michael Shannon who was in Groundhog Day. :argh:

Please read more carefully before you respond to posts...

And I didn't suggest an oscar winner, I was just making a point that you don't have to win awards to hold screen time with other actor, he's not Marlon Brando for Pete sakes. ;)

I'm not sure what he means, 8 Mile and Eminem's performance got pretty great reviews. It seems like he's treating it like it's another Air Bud spin-off.

Just please dont make it Justin Timberlake...I just saw IN TIME

Anyways, for Lex they should get a young guy whose not wimpy or old like Kevin Spacey

Time for a bald Leonardo Dicaprio. :p
