The Official Lex Luthor Casting Thread - Part 6

Lex is so much cooler as the scientist. With his genius intellect, the possibilities of things he can invent to kill Superman are endless.

I don't see why they can't combine both business man and scientist, they aren't mutually exclusive. Frankly they did it with Lucious Fox in Batman. He was inventing things, creating antidotes etc. It happens in real life all the time as well.

After reading Superman Earth One volume 2 I think it they should write and have Lex look like his Earth One counter part.

How did he look in that?
Good looking with hair and a smart trophy wife. What they are doing with Lex I believe is showing how he came to hate Superman. In this book the government brings him and his wife in with the sole purpose on finding out how to kill a man who can't be killed.

If you read it; then you'll see it works. You're looking at the classic content of pride before the fall. But they did do a good job on Lex2 :cwink:. If you seen the previews for the book also the red hair girl is pretty much Lana Lang. I even liked how they did her in this world but you just have to be open to change.

I thought Lex himself was okay, but the wife and Lex2 was just awful.

I liked the wife because in the end he becomes just like her. Now my biggest question is what changes with him to go from supporting Superman to wanting to kill him. My guess is that his wife somehow dies during the next book and he blames Superman more than likely due to kryptonite radiation or during one of his battles.

But I would love to see this Lex in the movies.

I think it would be better if Lady Lex was actually equally as benign as Man Lex appears to be. This way we'd feel bad for both of them when Lady Lex dies. Lady Lex seems manipulative of a weak willed Man Lex. If Lady Lex were genuinely good, as was Man Lex, it would be tragic, atm, I can't wait for her to die just to get her out the way.

Also, naming them both Lex Luthor is freakin' ridiculous.

That sounds badass. I hope that's how Lex becomes involved with Superman in the MOS sequel.

hhmmm....who could play the Earth One version of Lex......hhhmmmm.....:yay::woot:

Personally I would like to see Earth One's Lex in the movies. I liked the fact for example with John Shea's Lex was that you forgot Lex was suppose to be bald because of how well Shea played him. With the right actor I think you can over look the fact that Lex is suppose to be bald.

The thing is even if they do combine business man and scientist, one aspect will alwyas overshadow the other. For example In Birthright Id say luthors Scientist aspect stood out more.

When I read your comment about Lex2, I thought it was just a nickname you were giving his wife saying she was just like him. Then I read her's name's Alexandra. Then, I actually read "Lex squared." Wow. :funny:

Luthor can be both a scientist and a businessman. The DCAU Luthor is perfect for me.

After scrolling through this thread I've realized there are many good choices to play Lex.

Here's a new one, Richard Armitage.

And so a new reason for Lex to hate Superman was born

Superman: Lex, your a square
Lex: TAKE THAT BACK YOU EVIL ALIEN
Superman: Hey man, your wife said it, I'm just repeating it
Lex: NEVER SPEAK ABOUT MY WIFE, I'LL KILL YOU!!!

:funny: :funny:

Yeah, kinda strange. It's a seemingly pointless detail that just comes off as bizarre. And wanting the two of them to be called Lex squared? What's that about?

Yesss, the DCAU Luthor is the version I want as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they didn't really begin to show the scientist side of Lex until Justice League/JLU, did they?

ThePowerCosmic: what movie is your avatar from?

I think you're wrong. :oldrazz: The scientist side of Lex showed up in some STAS episodes, like in the one where Lexcorp shows off the anti-missile weapon which is later used to destroy Brainiac (who sabotaged the demonstration and has Lex build his body).

It's a deleted scene from The Amazing Spider-Man.

Wow, that version of Lex really, really looks like a young Gary Oldman.

A couple of years ago, Oldman would have made a wicked Lex.
