The Official Lex Luthor Casting Thread - Part 7

I take solace in the fact that fanboys are not in charge of casting, that Zane has a zero percent chance of playing Luthor in a live action film.

I can't figure out how the good actors get mentioned once or twice a month, and Zane gets brought up every time a new page starts, he looks the part, but the man isn't the world's finest actor.

The same reason people on here only fan cast red heads as Mary Jane or brunettes as Lois Lane.

Yep. It's inconceivable to some people that an actor could shave his head or that an actress could dye her hair.

Another good example is how, if you bring up a blond actor to play Batman, people immediately say that he'd make a better Flash.

Oscar Isaac!!!

Isaac would be really good. His King John character in Robin Hood felt very much like a medieval Lex Luthor.

Plus, it keeps the Robin Hood connection with MOS supporting actors, lol.

Guy Pearce, Dammit! :cmad:

"I declare Superman to be an OOOUUUTTTLLLAAAWWW!!!"

Lets see who played the villains in TDKT and MOS:

Michael Shannon-Well respected actor and Oscar nominee

Liam Neeson-Well respected actor and Oscar nominee

Heath Ledger-Well respected actor and Oscar nominee (now Oscar winner of course)

Tom Hardy-Up and coming well respected actor

Marion Colltiard-Well respected actress and Oscar winner

The only time I've seen Nolan slumming it (and I don't mean because of the Oscars I just mean in terms of respect) is when Katie Holmes was cast and guess what? She was replaced by a well respected actress who is an Oscar nominee in TDK.

Take the Oscars away if you hate them and he still 9 times out of 10 has highly well respected actors as the main leads in his films and eventhough he is only producing Man of Steel that didn't change. Snyder has worked with some fine actors as well to be fair.

Please tell me why Nolan and Snyder would cast some F-list cheeseball like Zane as Lex freaking Luthor, when they could cast an actual good well respected actor?

Just pick an Oscar nominee or winner whom you never thought of and you will correctly guess Lex's casting.

I don't think Mr. lewis has a especially high opinion of comic book movies. He called Heath Ledger's Joker performance 'a gem in a market', the gem being his performance, the market being TDK. If he thought TDK was 'a market', you can pretty much guess his opinion on the rest of the genre.

And that's fine not everyone has to like comicbook movies. Although I find the idea of disliking an entire genre silly.

There are plenty of good actors out there.

I can't just imagine his boyish voice being right for Luthor. A performance is more than just the voice of course, but still.

Honestly, I don't feel the Daniel Day-Lewis love. I understand is probably the greatest living film actor right now, but he is too old in my opinion and I would rather have someone who is hungry. Although Ledger was already an Oscar nominee for Brokeback Mountain and had delivered a few really solid performances before The Dark Knight, he had not yet established himself as a "serious" actor and was still trying to escape the legacy of his romantic lead, heart throb past. He had something to prove. I want them to cast younger for Luthor. Someone who is a well respected up and coming actor who has yet to truly make it big. Like Bale, Hardy, Ledger and to an extent Shannon all were.

That is why Damian Lewis and Jason Clarke are probably my favourite picks right now.

Hello everyone.

Yesterday after Mackenzie Gray was confirmed to play Jax-Ur an additional list of names was added to the
cast on the Man Of Steel Wikipedia.

This list included Mackenzie Gray as Jax-Ur,
Michael Kelly as Steve Lombard, Alessandro Juliani as Sergeant Sedowsky and Michael C.Hall as Lex Luthor.

The names have since been removed including the already confirmed Mackenzie Gray cast as Jax-Ur. One can't help but wonder is this down to WB trying to keep as much secrecy around the Man Of Steel for as long as possible? As we all know, they have been very tight lipped on Lex Luthor.

If you would like to know more, check out this link:

Thanks for reading. Oh and the Man Of Steel is going to be great!

Dex as Lex?

Please let it be true. I would absolutely love that.

It was on Wikipedia though. Pretty much anyone can write anything there.
