Joaquin Phoenix as the Mayor that rebuilt Metropolis running for President in the next film is the way to go. Spewing anti Superman rhetoric the whole way. Just need to figure out a big heavy. Probably Metallo!!!

Phoenix I'd number one, but an off the wall idea is Oscar Isaac, a Snyder vet!!!

Charles Dance. Have a Lex that could kill Supes with a glare. :o

I wish that dude from "We Need to Talk About Kevin" was 10-15 years older. He's one creepy looking mofo and I think could make a good Lex.

After watching Stoker, I want Matthew Goode in this role.

Save him for if/when they ever get Sandman off the ground. He's androgynous looking enough to pull this off.

I said the same thing but some are against the idea because apparently they think the only rich business dude he is capable of playing is Ozymandias from Watchmen.

I really like the Matt Damon suggestion. Dude is such a good actor I think he could pull it off. He already played a sort of *****ebag suit in Syriana.

Or maybe instead of using JGL for a rebooted Batman as some wanted, use him for Lex. He's proven his acting chops, and he was bald in 50/50.

Baldness, or looking good bald is not going to be an issue if Lex is in the sequel I think. My suspicion is that He will have a full head of hair for the majority of the film. What do I mean by majority? I mean THE ENTIRE FREAKIN' FILM!(Cept the end or in a mid credit sequence) If he is a pseudo ally or an antagonist in MOS2 I bet they are going to throw us a curve with the visual representation of Luthor. Now, it will be the actions that take place in the film's finale that will lead to Luthor's baldness (Byrne's Kryptonite was radioactive and affected humans as any radioactive substance would. Hmmm...). I will enter the Phantom Zone of my own free will if it is not so.

Lex should be the saviour of Metropolis in MOS2, a clean cut image on the surface, obviously. He has no conflict with Superman over popularity, it's a bit juvenile.

Say it's Clark/Superman and Lois that discover the criminal and illegal activities at Lexcorp, and as they all come into conflict, Lex thinks of ways to discredit and destroy them.

His issues of Superman grows and burns from business to personal, which causes Lex his eventual downfall in his attempts to destroy his nemesis.

An interesting scene for me was the scene with the General asking Superman what he will tell the president about trusting him. The first thought that came into my mind was: OMG Lex is president and he doesn't trust Superman! For me it would be an interesting dynamic. Lex has never been presented as the president in the big screen and he doesnt have to be your typical villain. He could be an actual good guy but his mistrust and hatred for Superman would have him act behind the scenes to bring him down. On the other hand, Superman would trust him completely, being the president and all, and would be jarred in the end when he finds out that he was trusting the wrong person after all. Could also be a way to bring in the DC universe, because who better to bring together all these characters than the commander in chief himself. Maybe build it up like Batman Superman: Public Enemies, but this time the JLA is the public enemy.

There's no doubt Lex would try to exploit the shakey trust that the world has put into Superman.

I dont see why Michael Rosenbaum cannot be Lex. Snyder isnt afraid to use former Smallville cast members and Rosenbaum at the Superman Celebration this year was asked by fans why he wasnt in MOS and he said that he would have loved to been asked. I say he can pull of the bald look even with a cap because I know he wont shave his head, though he might for the movie. He was the best Lex on screen we have ever seen and the guy can play Lex with pure hate and then flip it to being Mr. Nice Guy

speaking of smallville i love this line
"You know, I used to think that it was our families that makes us who we are? Then I hoped it was our friends. But if you look at history, the great men and women of the world have always been defined... by their enemies"

Since it has been discussed so much, would'nt it be a kick in the head if Superman is the one to actually do much of the rebuilding of Metropolis (out of a sense of responsability) and this is one of the factors that starts to eat away at Luthor?

Superman is a gero, not a brick layer, despite what TQFP showed us :hehe:

I actually tried to get him to allow me recording him saying "I am the villain of the story!" but his PR woman would not allow it. He was cool as hell btw in person and he is very open. He was going to do it but she said that he needed prior approval from his pr company.

In terms of looking imposing and relatively evil alone I'd go for Joseph Gatt.

JGL may have the inside line because of his history with Nolan. For me though, I just don't see it.
