LEX: (sucking a lollipop): "Who's gonna kill ya with Kryptonite, baby?"

I can't see that guy being ruthless at all.

Have you seen him on House of Cards? I wouldn't say he was ruthless but he showed a pretty broad ranges of emotion.

I really feel we need to move away from the bald actor typecast though. We should broaden out the horzion.

I want to see someone play luthor that you would not expect right off the bat, that's what the franchise needs.

I don't know. He just seems to have this average non-threatening look -- like a bartender maybe. I've never watched House of Cards though, so I'm only going by the one pic.

Luthor doesn't need a threatening look.

I agree. He should be seen by the public as metropolis golden boy, only behind the scenes do you see his real nature.

Vin is my choice for Martian Manhunter.... But, yeah. That might work. I know he has a spotty track record BO and quality wise with his films. And maybe he has played a lot of roles where the character is not the most sophisticated person, but I think he could do it and deliver something interesting. His Lex would have swagger and charm at least. As well as an intimidating sense about him.

I think there should be something sinister about him -- a hidden darkness that only certain people (like Superman) can see.

Bruce would need that Looper time machine, cuz the brother man is looking more and more haggard with each new movie.

Willis looks great for his age. Don't know that he's LL, but I wouldn't be opposed to someone that age.

Willis was great as this Luthor...

Sorry, but while his body is in great shape for a man his age, look at all the mileage his face gives off. And look at his press interviews for his recent films. He looks more grizzled each time. I just think he is too old to play a Luthor that I feel would be consistent with the MOS world. Just my opinion mind you.

Well Bryan Cranston won a poll on digital spy so he's looking a popular choice.

Hell no to Willis I love the guy in Die Hards but he can't act for ****.

Exactly.

We would have never gotten heath ledger had we had such limited vision of who can play a character.

I say we start a new thread the "no bald actors allowed lex casting thread".

I dont particuarly dig the 'older' actor suggestions.

I mean, I see Lex as a vital and ultra-rich alpha male with looks [Lex wouldnt exactly look out of place on the cover of GQ] and charisma which the general public responds to but there's a dark [and sinister] side that the public do not see.

Basically, the evil version of Bruce Wayne.

See, I really feel they are going to throw us for a curve with Lex, just as they did with much of MOS. I am betting that Luthor has hair for like 75%-!00% of the movie. Enemy or ally to Superman he will lose his hair by the end of the film or in a '89 BATMAN Joker "Mirror?" kind of mid credits scene.

I think you're right. It's not that an older actor would be out of the question. But to sell him as a self made billionaire genius type that's made his fortune off of the high tech sector I think it's best to have the actor be 41-51, in that range.
