So essentially, the "big name" claim is all the author's interpretation? Don't get me wrong, Adams, Crowe, and Costner are great actors with strong pedigrees, but Snyder's comment is open to interpretation. Shannon was not a big name (like Crowe or Costner) but is a great actor. I'm not even sure Adams is a household name to be honest. "Pedigree" could be referring to acting talent and critical acclaim as opposed to name draw or stardom.

An Oscar-nominated, Disney Princess who has starred in many a RomCom is not a household name? Come on now.

Yes Amy isn't as huge as them but I just get the vibe he's talking about a big name that people know very well. I think after The Fighter, Muppets, etc even Amy Adams is a little more known to the GA than Shannon now.

For Lex and a male role, id say they'll be looking at the Crowe's and Costner's like said in that quote. Zack also compared his vision of Lex to a MULTI billionaire version of Brad Pitt. So im going to say that Snyder will cast a big name who has some kind of sex appeal as well in his 30s or 40s. Which excludes the big older names like Daniel Day Lewis or Denzel Washington. Of course that's assuming he meant "Brad Pitt" in terms of his looks and not just meaning a big acting star.....then it that case yes, a Denzel or DDL would work out.

You know, if by chance Pacific Rim is a huge hit and Charlie Hunnam's career blows up afterward, I could see him playing a good Lex. He was awesome as the psychopath in Cold Mountain. Very underrated actor, IMO.

I know a lot of people who get her confused with Isla Fisher. Also, I don't know if I'd call Julie&Julia, Leap Year, and Miss Pettigrew, "many a RomCom". Maybe you are confusing her for Fisher too.

Maybe I am underestimating her name recognition from Enchanted, but unless I was talking to a relatively young female friend, every time I talked to an acquaintance about why I was excited about her playing Lois Lane, I tended to have to explain who Amy was and what she had played in.

Nope. Just people will say stuff like "Isn't she the crazy redhead from Wedding Crashers?" and stuff like that.

EDIT: Just that I wasn't sure if she was a big household name like Costner or Crowe, which might suggest that Snyder's quote was referring more so to talent and critical acclaim that big name draw and instant recognition. I'd gladly be proven wrong because Amy deserves that sort of fame more than most, but most of her "big" movies are arthouse, Oscarbait. Her only real mainstream, wide audience films I can think of are Enchanted, Night at the Museum 2, The Muppets, and now Man of Steel.

Yeah, Nolan might be able to convince him, but he's not directing it, so you never know. Still, if they are going for a big name, you don't get much bigger than Leo.

If Snyder et al are serious about the "huge name" thing, then Denzel definitely edges up my favourites. Still very interested in Vince Vaughn or Daniel Craig for the role, though.

What about Mercy? If she is going to be in the movie, then she needs to look good opposite Lex. Faora will be a tough act to follow. Gwendoline Christie would seem an obvious choice. Any others?

Either some of you aren't listening or maybe you're unaware. But Zack Snyder said Lex will be played by a BIG name that people know generally. On the level of a Russel Crowe, Kevin Costner.

Please read this people. For the 20th time, it's not going to be an actor that isn't known worldwide.

These Mads Mikkelson, Ben Foster, Aiden Gillen suggestions don't cut it.

You make it sound like we're all in his meeting planning this, making real suggestions to Snyder and you're his adviser telling us we're doing it wrong. Relax. It's all just fun discussion. Whether they go with Ben Foster or Mark Strong, it doesn't matter. We're all just having a fun, meaningless, speculative discussion. It's not that serious.

He's been suggested a few times. I personally think he'd be amazing in the role. And since Dexter is ending, he'll be looking for work.
