I can't stand Billy Zane, for me, it's Jason Isaacs all the way. He can be suave, intelligent, bad-ass, intense, you name it, the man was born for this role.

Hes a good shout, I'd not be against Billy Zane though.

I know everyone has their favorites but for the love of god please no Billy Zane. For the better part of a decade he has been the go to man for direct to dvd or cable television movies. You might as well cast Luke Perry. Zane would make Luthor a cartoon with his acting skill. The man chews up more scenery than Godzilla.

Thank you.

I'd like to see an unexpectable Lex: Joaquin Phoenix.

I think it's funny that people seem to constantly pick Billy Zane for Lex Luthor solely because he's already bald. Any actor can shave their head, folks, use some imagination.

I am not sure if any of you saw Me and Orson Welles, but the gentleman playing Welles was brilliant. I know that WB/DC is looking for a name if casting a possible Lex, but this dude, Christian Mckay, he could play a sinister and yet charming Lex.

My other candidates: Edward Norton and Josh Brolin.

That's not it. In spite of his limited acting ability, Zane actually plays the smarmy villain, whose @$$ you'd like to see kicked in the worst way, very well.

Maybe so, but I'd also like a menacing Lex that I somewhat respect and respect for what he is. Dunno if Zane could pull that off.

Looks a good choice

Lookswise I'd say no, but I haven't seen him in action either.

If they go for young lex I think he's spent enough time away from the role that he could seriously be considered:

Rosenbaum was awesome as Lex on Smallville-- but that's just the problem. We can't have any Smallville crossovers happening in this movie, and Warner Bros. will definitely not consider having any of the SV cast reprise their roles in the Superman reboot. It's just plain not a possibility.

I think Tom Hardy is still our best bet for Lex.

Just saw LET THERE BE BLOOD and Lewis just cant stop being freaking awesome to look at. He's so dominating and commanding in his scenes. I believe he'd shine as Lex, but think I prefer him WITH hair and also moustache. :woot:

'Let There Be Blood'? is that the sequel to 'There Will Be Blood'??? :cwink: hehe

i could definitely go for DDL as Lex, but imo Hardy is the perfect fit.

Doh! :woot:

Lewis is probably too old too and I dont think he'd be up for it either.

depp, brolin, day-lewis, dicaprio, hardy..all would be great.

in an ideal world, we would have day lewis as lex, and he would make the movie a cinematic masterpiece.

imagine day lewis versus a superman, showing him his place. it would be incredible.

but unfortunately, it looks like this character wouldn't interest day lewis, who is far too pompous these days to consider such a role.

i would love it if he did it though. a nolan produced superman movie with day lewis as lex luthor?

damn right, it would probably make a billion easy

I wouldn't say him being unlikely to play such a role makes him pompous. To repeat what I said in another thread:

I don't see how wanting to do the best job possible makes Daniel Day-Lewis stuck up. I don't think he has an ego about it, or looks down on people who do blockbuster movies. In past interviews he has been complimentary about blockbusters, even superhero movies, from the perspective of a viewer, but simply says that as a performer they're not for him. As an actor he's perenially in a state of semi-retirement, and taking on a role is a major commitment for him, so he only takes on the parts that really appeal to him and really feel like a challenge. I'd say that's admirable, not stuck-up. Even if it is disappointing that it means we'll never see him kick ass in a comic book movie.

I know he's not a well known actor in countries other than Australia but Gary Sweet would make an awesome Lex Luthor especially against Jon Hamm as Superman.

I could never respect him, that's for sure.

I love him so much, that I almost wish I could go back in time and make them change Lex to look more like him so that he'd be perfect for the role.

But as things stand, I can't get on board.

Great pic. I was on the fence on him until this one. He was an incredible Hook (my second favourite villain of all time), i'm sure he'd make an incredible Lex too.

But I kind of hope they don't go for an actor who is known for playing the villain. I want something a bit unique from Lex.

Like it was said above, If I even hear this Lex utter the words ''real estate'' I will have a permanent facepalm scar on my face.

Agreed. I think my hand will be permanently lodged into my skull.

If they go for young lex I think he's spent enough time away from the role that he could seriously be considered:

The least they can do is take a que from him. Have an actor who's charming, attractive, intelligent etc.
