Another on my wishlist for Lex, Viggo Mortensen.

He's my Lex choice, too.

He's definitely the right look and age for my tastes

I've gotten excited about Hardy because I think it'd be something new, but JP could bull off a great Luthor.

I was thinking about this one, and I don't know if I like it or dislike it...
But, how 'bout Ben Affleck for Lex? I was watching him in The Town and I was thinking I might be able to see it. The Town was from WB too..

I'll say no to Ben Affleck. Not because I think he's a bad actor: I actually believe he's underrated. But that's the problem. Though as a director he's reclaiming his damaged reputation, he still has this stigma about him as a bad actor, whether it's fair or justified or not. You cast him in the role, then you're fighting against public reception instead of working with it.

True, I was thinking about that. I think they're gonna go with a A-list actor for Lex.

I will say this. There is no reason why Lex Luthor can't be as compelling, as relevant and as iconic a movie villain as Heath Ledger's Joker. Let's hope he's finally done justice in this movie.

He's all kinds of wrong for Super, but all kinds of right for Luthor.

Philip Seymour Hoffman for Luthor

You know, he doesn't necessarily look the part, but Philip Seymour Hoffman is such an incredible actor that I know he'd be able to own the part of Lex, and I'd be happy to see him take the role on.

yeah, you know there are a lot of different "looks" that Luthor has had over the years; the more modern Lex has been more of a dashing playboy type character, but he can easily be fattened up a little, and PSH can be surgically evil and conniving, yet likeable

Philip Seymour Hoffman is a good actor, but he doesnt fit Lex. Its like casting Jack Nicholson for the Joker, just because he's nuts in real life.... oh wait, they already did that.

Gene Hackman didn't necessarily "fit Lex" either . . . and the same could be said for Heath Ledger before he was cast as the most memorable portrayal of Joker ever . . .

But Gene is a different Luthor. Just like how I felt that Burton was influenced by Superman that he cast Jack Nicholson: Casting a vet actor as the lead villain.

With Heath, he was a young man in the prime of his career.

I think Phillip would be great but physically, he's not the Lex I'm looking for.
