Yeah, Billy Zane is a C List actor now at best, and even in his prime, he really wasn't anything special. Plus it would make it annoying watching the movie and having to listen to people whispering "Is he wearing eye makeup?" in the theater. No to Guyliner Billy Zane.

The younger, business minded genius version of Lex has always been more entertaining. The mad scientist angle is too cliche'. Lex always worked better when the public loved him but you still knew that he was up to something.

But you have to take into account that the mad scientist angle was Lex for a very long time before the revamp. You can't just ignore stuff like that. Really, it could be argued that the business-only Lex isn't even Lex, but a new character. I don't mind a combination of the two, but a just-business Lex misses the point of the character, just as much as a Joker who doesn't look like a clown and kill people.

I would've suggested Jackie Earle Haley for Luthor a long time ago, if only he was a little taller. I'm not so sure that his height would make much difference though... I've seen Luthor all different sizes. I've got no doubt he'd give an awesome performance.

I'm wondering why people have a hard time with him possibly being both a scientist and a corporate bigwig. Just say most of the **** at Lexcorp is based on stuff he's done, a la Bill Gates. But some of the things he's created have had some questionable purposes in the eyes of a few people, weapons-wise.

Joaquin Phoenix is now out of Abraham Licoln: Vampire Hunter. His big return could be as Lex!

I wish we knew how big of a role Lex will have..will he be a major player in it, or, will he just show up from time to time throughout the film.

He was rumored to be in the running for Bruce Banner, so maybe he's interested in doing a comic book movie and Lex would be a great role for him. Just curious, has he ever shaved his head for a part. I'm just trying to picture him bald.

Also, for a younger Lex, how about Jake Gyllenhaal?

It's been a while since he played a more sinester character, but I'd like to see him tap into that darker side we haven't seen much of since Donnie Darko. I've always though he was a great actor; I think he could make an interesting Lex. People suggested him for Superman before, which I could never see but Lex? Maybe... especially if they make Lex a younger, more evil Mark Zuckerburg.

Gyllenhaal is an intriguing choice. Micheal Sheen is another name I'll throw out.

Michael Sheens too ugly for Lex I think.
I kinda like the idea of Gyllenhaal because it would be so surprising to see him as a villain-he looks soooo nice.

I'd say I want Joaquin Phoenix the most out of anyone right now.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking, too. Lex shouldn't look TOO evil since (if they use businessman Lex) he should be able to charm people.

As for Sheen... great actor, but his head already looks like a hot air baloon to me. If he shaved his head, he'd look like a kid from South Park.

Gyllenhaal's too young and I dont like his droopy eyes for this kinda role. It requires a strong piercing look that can rival Cavills.

"I'm Still Here" was a mistake for him. After watching it, I just got nothing out of it besides being very *********ory. I like art films, but this one fails hard.

Yeah, I still have yet to see it but that's how it looked to me. It's a shame too... he was really good in the film Two Lovers but it was completely overshadowed by his "Am I really going insane?" publicity tour.

Honestly, it made him look bad and it wasted two year of his life and career.

also, I never bought into it because of his late brother, River Phoenix. That event was tragic enough that I can't see how Joaquin would 'drug' himself up in the film without even referencing his bro.

I like the idea of Phoenix alot. He would be fantastic. His role in Gladiator just proves it. He was one of the characters I truly hated.

Gyllenhaal is more of a reach that requires more thought for me. But I could see Phoenix as Lex. With a shaved head. Goddamn, that would be great.
