I like Viggo, but I just cant picture him as Lex. DDL would be a dream come true, but he seems unlikely.

Shannon is my favorite choice, because I believe he has the right combo of serious and manic behavior that the role of Lex requires.

The businessman, and the mad scientist. Thats the kind of Luthor I prefer.

Well we got two major casting role completed [Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane] Now it's time to hear the big announcement of who will play the Arch-Nemesis : LEX LUTHOR .

I eagerly await with great anticipation on this casting announcement .

I'm really curious to see who it will be. I have a feeling it will be another actor that people weren't expecting.

They've all been surprises so far. Except for Costner. I hope it keeps going that way. It's more exciting.

How long do you think it will be until they announce him? Should be a few weeks or so I'd think.

i think michael shannon could portray a guy who feels he is human perfection but may not look it

he will make a great mad scientist lex

I'm partially glad DDL is out of reach for these types of projects, the more I think about it. Because he would be all critics would want to talk about once the movie hits. Cavill could be stellar as Superman, but all they'd be saying is how no one in the movie could hold a candle to DDL. And I'm not saying he isn't a great actor; it's just that usually whenever he's in anything, critics act like there are no other actors in the movie.

It's not his fault he delivers powerhouse performances. Every ounce of praise is well deserved. We'd be lucky to have something of that caliber in a high-profile genre blockbuster. It'd be nice to have a role that accompanied Heath's. Would be better if it even set a whole new standard.

Never said it was his fault. I'm talking about the reception here.

Anyway, there's not point in debating it though... I still think DDL is a snowball in hell for this film. But anyway, back to Michael Shannon... I just remembered, you guys really need to check out this short film he was in around 2000-2001 called Mullitt, written and directed by Pat Healy. Shannon plays this nerdy crackhead in it. It's one of the funniest short films I've ever seen. If you can track it down, you NEED to see it.

Rumors are swirling that Boardwalk Empire might end up being delayed, the reason being is that Michael Shannon is a finalist for the role of Lex Luthor.

I don't know.

I don't know.

If that's the case maybe we can rule him out. All the other internet rumors ended up being the complete opposite of what happened.

I don't know.

I heard it might be delayed because Shannon wants the lead in Kristen Stewart & The Huntsman. However, it's up in the air since he's holding out for more money. :hehe:

Lol we went from an older Superman that must be American, to a younger Brit Superman. Then Lois casting had Kunis, Wilde, Biel, and McAdams... Then BAM we get Adams out of nowhere :D

I must admit, and I'm ashamed of this, that I gave yet to watch Boardwalk Empire despite having the entire series on DVR.

Should I be excited for Shannon as Lex?

Would be a very interesting choice!,I think he would be able to pull it off perfectly.....Especially as Mad Scientist or Inventor Lex!

i don't want Shannon for Lex. he looks too sinister. i don't want Lex to look like an obvious bad guy.

I think in the end we will see a bigger name actor for Lex that is not currently "rumored"

If only Bond started filming a few months later... Daniel Craig could still be a possibility. He'd be venom to Superman, like a damn snake.
