If Lex Luthor is in this new Superman movie he better be corporate Lex or they may as well not bother. I don't think anyone wants to see a Luthor who lives by the Subway plotting real estate scams with bumbling sidekicks anymore.

A Lex Luthor who already has wealth power and influence is more of a threat.

The casting of Billy Zane would immediately make the movie look cheap. Casting a direct to video actor as one of Superman's greatest enemies is a very very bad move, no matter how much he looks like the character.

That being said Daniel Craig, Jeffery Donovan, Hamm, Patrick Wilson, Brolin, and Joaquin Phoenix would all be GREAT choices.

You do realize Billy Zane played the villain in Titanic, one of the most successful movies of all time, right?

Zane is practically C list now. This movie needs casting similar to BB, TDK, IM, etc.. We need to shoot for a heavyweight.

I agree to a certain extant. Kevin Spacey felt like a missed opportunity.

I keep thinking they will aim for actors like Jason Isaacs, Joaquin Phoenix, Viggo Mortensen, Matthew Goode or Patrick Wilson possibly.

I think Gerard Butler would be great as Zod!

If Cavill is any indication of the direction of the casting, I would never say never. Maybe in this case though. I feel at least Lex will be played by a heavyweight oscar-winner or someone in that vicinity.

I've thought DDL would be perfect for Lex for quite some time... but I never even entertained the thought of it happening. Luthor IS the only comic villain I could see him playing though, if he did. And he seemed to respect Ledger alot, so who knows. He's doing Abe Lincoln around the same time, so that might be a problem.

I still LOVE the idea of Daniel Craig as Luthor... he'd make Lex a true threat.

Day Lewis would be great. Whoever it is tho, I hope its a heavy hitter..Much in the same way as Brando and Hackmen were to S:TM.
They were the equals to Depp and Day Lewis back then, at least in popularity.
