I'm hoping this Lex is a mixture of the genius mastermind scientist and the businessman. Makes him more interesting and a greater mental match against Superman. There's a saying that if Superman had never existed, Lex Luthor would've been the greatest person to have lived. I'd like to see something like that on screen.

agreed....i don't want him to be just a corrupt businessman. i really liked the way he was handled in Birthright, being a mixture of mad scientist and powerful businessman.


btw, just got done watching the first 2 seasons of 'the Tudors' and i gotta say...JRM definitely has the gravitas to pull off Lex. he already played a commanding, powerful man of high stature with lots of intensity...he'd probably ace Lex Luthor.

I guess it's a passe pick among fanboys nowadays, but count me in on the Billy Zane bandwagon. I've always thought he'd be the perfect Lex.

After seeing Sherlock(and loving the **** out of it), I would like to see Benedict Cumberbatch as Lex. They should keep him British too.

I hate to keep succombing to this suggestion, because he's already known for playing villains, and i'd rather they went for someone out of the box...

In all seriousness, I like several choices. Isaacs, Day Lewis, Depp, Brolin, Law ( maybe), Dicaprio, mortensen. if they can get actors of this caliber to test, i'll be impressed and very happy.

I have a question for you guys. How important is it to you that Lex is bald? What if, by some amazing stroke of luck, Daniel Day Lewis agrees to play Lex, but doesn't want to shave his head or wear a bald cap. Would you be okay with it?

He's an incredible actor, no one could argue that. But I don't think he's right for Lex, so for him, no...

But is it essential? Well since I grew up with John Shea as my Lex, and the only time they had him bald was in 1 episode and he wore a bald cap... No, it's not essential.

For some reason though, I find that for this reboot, I would very much prefer that he was bald... it's sort of becoming more important to me.

I'm aware of DDL's intense method acting techniques, the question was hypothetical. If Lex was cast with a truly amazing and talented actor but didn't want to do it bald, would that be okay?
