Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who starred as the crazed Henry VIII in "The Tudors" alongside Cavill, would make a fantastic Luthor.
He has that attractive and alluring charm and charismatic authority that worked so well as the despotic king who sent many a wife to the headsman.
I'd like to see a Luthor who is a combination of the evil scientist and powerful businessman -- a cross between a Steve Jobs and a young Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld -- genius who's built Luthor Corp. on his own groundbreaking inventions (military hardware, stun rays, battle suits, robotics, etc.).

I love the idea of John Rhys Meyers as Lex, but I think that they will avoid any other Tudors cast members in this film.

...and yes, he'd make an AWESOME Lex Luthor......and yes, they're probably going to try to avoid casting another Tudors actor in a main roles.......and yes, they'll probably try to cast actors according to their nationality from now on.

My favourites are Patrick Wilson and Jon Hamm. They're both entirely possible too.

For Lex we're getting a heavyweight a-list actor, I'm more than positive. I'll almost guarantee it. Like they did it with Spacy.

Billy Zane would be an indescribable heap of disappointing mediocrity IMO. If I saw a headline saying "Billy Zane Signs on to Play Lex Luthor" I wouldn't flip out, but I would certainly be extremely disappointed. Here, we finally have the opportunity to get a really phenomenal Lex, with no shortage of capable actors able to pull that off, and out of that bunch, Billy Zane? He's just so...bland. I don't find anything about him or his performances in the least bit interesting. He can play a boring ******bag okay, but Lex should be more than that. I want to actually like Lex a bit, he should have charisma and depth, and those are 3 things that I personally don't think Zane is able to do or have. I want to see guys like Jon Hamm, Daniel Craig, Guy Pearce, Jason Isaacs, etc. play Lex. Billy Zane just comes off as such a cheap and boring choice, it would be a huge letdown when we have the perfect opportunity to get a kick-ass Lex that is not animated.

I concur with Myers as Lex . I like the idea of younger , hungry Lex who like Cavill is also in his prime as opposed to the older buisnessman from STAS, L&C, and the comics. In fact , I find it a much more interesting dynamic that the two young men would be of the same generation and be polar opposites as opposed to the Older man vs New Kid dynamic of previous verisons. Plus, Cavill and Myers already have great chemistry and play off of each other very well. Hopefully WB is reading these posts.Lol.

He's really only gotten suggestions because he's bald and easy to imagine appearance wise in the role.
