Diane Lane and Kevin Costner are not left field choices. I've seen Lane brought up many times for Martha and Costner is a pretty natural midwestern fit.

to me they're left field choices because no one or only a few people saw gave them any thoughts for the roles they ended up with. i had never heard Diane Lane brought up for Martha and maybe i should've used a different phrase to describe his casting for these actors/actresses...

...not necessarily left field choices, but possibly.....sucker punches?

I think they were more "surprising" because older folks for the Kents were probably expected.

They didn't surprise me, I just thought "Oh, so they're going younger" and thought they were perfect choices.

Lane&Costner are kinda random choices,And I never imagined them in these types of movies.....But I still welcome them!,I think they could pull it off perfectly from an acting view But there characters will be depending on the script&direction.

I actually posted Lane for Martha a few times, funny enough about 2-3 days before the announcement I had reposted Lane for Martha. She seemed like a pretty easy choice for modern take on Martha.

okay okay okay...whatever, i'm just saying.......these 3 casting choices were (FOR MOST PEOPLE) pretty unexpected and surprising, so i'm wondering if this trend will continue with Lex...

Should Luthor be about the same age as Cavill, or a few years older, is the question. I would say he should be about early 30s since this technically their first time meeting. And he should have some banter with Lois when she interviews him, like she already has an inkling of how shady he is and tries to probe, and he's somewhat annoyed yet still likes to push her buttons.

I'd be on board with Jon Hamm playing Lex for sure, but I'm kind of loving the suggestion of Daniel Craig. Like DorkyFresh said, though, based on the casting thus far it seems like the role would go to someone who hasn't been suggested previously.

I'm glad you brought up Jake Gyllenhaal, DF, so now I don't have to worry about him getting the role! Whew!
