erm no...some chicks just have naturally girly voices no matter how much they try to hide it. as much as i think Mandy Moore looks perfect for the role, she has the same problem Minka Kelly does. they just have really girly voices...

^i'm definitely going to disagree on that one. Wilde has more talent and versatility than Kelly.

OK. just for the sake of a new name.... and i might get shot down, but... Lyndsy Fonseca anyone?

She played Katie Deauxma in Kick-Ass, is currently starring in Nikita, has a ton of tv roles and a few other movie ones under her belt. she's a decent actress, and i think she could pull off a role like Lois well.
she has a nice, softer look that would contrast and complement Cavill's better than someone like Olivia Wilde... and she's 24, so she's around the right age.
thing is, i don't think that she's played anyone older than a college student, so my biggest concern is that she looks too young - she has this natural face-chubbiness that makes her look younger than she is (kind of the opposite of Wilde, who has no fat anywhere on her body, which makes people think she's in her thirties)

BUT, do we actually know how old Lois is supposed to be in this reboot? I saw someone say that it's following an early 20's Clark. If so, i think Fonseca could work just fine age-wise, and some of the popular suggestions around here might actually look too old...

yeah, again... just a suggestion. she's definitely not my first pick, i just think she could work, given the chance.

On Minka Kelly: It's funny, because to me, Leighton Meester is basically her younger-looking, older-sounding, and far more talented twin. If we could combine them into one person, with Minka's looks and Leighton's voice, attitude and acting skills, we'd have fantastic Lois. Unfortunately, we can't, and Minka Kelly on her own is, looks aside, all wrong for Lois. Leighton simply looks too young.

Lyndsy Fonseca seems too young as well, imo.

Lyndsy Fonseca is a good looking girl, but too young IMO. Personally, I'm one of those people that imagines Lois as being a few years older than Clark. That's why my favorite candidate is Rachel McAdams.

Um, yeah but you don't know if that's true for Minka Kelly. Many actresses in fact learn to speak in a lower or higher register if needed. Now who knows if Kelly can do it but I'm not gonna make the assumption she can't do it just because I haven't seen her do it before.

i'm sure she could speak in a lower pitch, but it would sound unnatural. some girls just don't have it...

Now who knows if Kelly can do it but I'm not gonna make the assumption she can't do it just because I haven't seen her do it before.

you call it assumption, i call it educated guessing or deductive reasoning. i've heard girls with her type of voice try to speak with a lower pitch and it just doesn't sound right. it sounds forced and they STILL sound girly. she could always prove me wrong, but i doubt we'll ever get the chance to find out.

you think she can pull off a lower voice, i don't...since she's not even rumored to be up for the role, let's just drop it and agree to disagree.

Yeah, I threw her name up a while back, but in the end I think she does have this really young look to her. More than just looking young, but it's the pouting puppy eyes too She is great in Nikita though
