The Official Lois Lane Casting & Discussion Thread - Part 5

ITA... Gemma is a VERY competant actress. Anyone who disagrees NEEDS to watch Alice Creed.

As for her being stunning, OBVIOUSLY she is, but not in a threatening kinda way. She could easily be one of the girls in the office where I work. She's just so likeable. That's the problem with Olivia, her beauty is so... cold?

I think my main resistance to Olivia as LL is the fact that she is obviously Hollywood's latest "It girl"... she's suggested for EVERY female lead role (Catwoman, Talia, Lara Croft, Lois Lane...) much the same way as Megan Fox was rammed down our throats after Transformers and Keira Knightley after Pirates of the Caribbean, you can't go to a casting thread for ANY female role without "Olivia Wilde" being deemed the PERFECT choice. This seems to be despite the fact that she has yet to shown herself to possess any extraordinary acting skills. She's an average actress, she's not bad by any means, but she hasn't shown herself to be any better then the likes of other TV actresses trying to branch out into movies, like Jessica Biel or Blake Lively. At the end of the day, she's an OK actress with an incredibly unusual face who can read a line without making me cringe. I want more from Lois. I want an actress who will make it her own and totally kill it. Olivia Wilde is Olivia Wilde in every. single. role.

I do like her though :-) Nice girl.

Yep. Quorra and Thirteen are exactly the same. :o

I knew it. Women are threatened by her beauty. :oldrazz:

Wilde is far better, and more versatile, than Biel and Lively, imo. I know everyone has a different perspective but, to me, Olivia is incredibly likable. She's intelligent, confident, funny and charming. All attributes that I believe Lois should have.

Gemma Arterton also has all those things and would be fantastic too. So does Rachel McAdams and Emily Blunt. There are a lot of good choices. :yay:

As I look at Majik's picks, I'm noticing a few faces that never get discussed (because they're so under-the-radar they won't even be considered), so in an attempt to divert from the usual (and boring at this point) Wilde talk, what are everyone's wildcard choices? You know, the ones that you know have pretty much no shot at even being considered?

My wildcards:

1. Caroline Dhavernas
2. Alexa Davalos
3. Missy Peregrym

1. Alison Brie
2. Taylor Cole
3. Alexa Davalos

A woman with Olivia's style of looks (that you label "cold") cannot be found working in an office anywhere? That's what you're saying. And that's silly.

They should just cast Wilde and get it over with. The longer they wait the less options they have.

I'm happy to see people bring up Gemma again, I even forgot about her. I like her and if she can pull of the accent I'd be happy if she got the role.

i like her but she can be quite annoying in films especially prince of persia lol my god was she annoying in that film

^Disagree, Alfred Molina and her performance were one of the few above average things about that movie. And she was way better than the lead chick in that goofy James Bond movie.

i actually liked her in Prince of Persia. if she could pull off an American accent i'd get behind Gemma...

...oh hell, i'd get behind her regardless :X

I'm liking your list Eddie Dean. There is just something that I like about Kate Mara so she's always been on a long list of mine.

Some of these "too young" choices could be candidates for Lucy Lane, if the time ever comes.

I would like Lois to look like a woman this time. Someone not young looking like Bosworth but of course can pull off the character. Mara I don't know... she would definitely be a surprising choice.

Yeah, I'll acknowledge that Olivia is the "it girl" right now but that doesn't make her wrong for this or any other role. Most of the people criticizing her would be criticizing any other actress mentioned if she were the current it girl (unless said actress happens to be THEIR choice).

Exactly. Anway, I hope WB at least audtions her. She is starting to become the female equivalent of Cavill as the fan's main choice for the role. I certainly don't want Marvel to nab her :o

Dear Zach Snyder,

Name. NOW.

:cmad:

That news keeps popping up on different websites.

From what we can tell, a reporter was originally mistaken. Hendricks did the voice of All Star Superman's Lois Lane, and someone for some reason learned about that and thought she was going to be the live-action Lois Lane.

Well I hope it's not true.

Hell I'd take Bosworth over her any day of the week to play Lois.lol

Be that as it may, god, I wish we would get a casting confirmation already as to who's going to play Lois.

hendricks is super-hot

but I'm not sure she'd even look good with brown hair

Kate Mara

I recently saw 127 Hours, and I really liked Mara in the short screen time she had. Gave off a very fun and warm vibe, really appealing. She has the look (except the hair which can be changed), and I wouldn't mind her at all. But that was pretty much the only thing I've seen her in, besides Shooter but I can barely remember that movie, so I'm not entirely sold on her yet. But, again, if she was cast I'd be quite okay with it.

All the talk about Genma is interesting.

IMHO, even though I don't care about this, I have a hard time believing the WB would be comfortable casting another Brit for Lane. I have a feeling Legendary/WB would prefer Snyder cast a well-known American actress for the part or at least an American actress, period.

Again, most of us don't care, but you know the PR spin that's going to happen when this film starts to get the press attention a few months heading into its release. Two Brits playing two iconic American characters would become the MO for this film, and that might be a label the WB would prefer not to deal with.

That said, I think Genma would be awesome. She played a minor role in "Quantum of Solace" and I liked her in "Prince of Persia."

My gut is we get Wilde on this, though I also think a left-field choice like Brie is very possible.
