The Official Lois Lane Casting & Discussion Thread - Part 5

I have no idea how to post a link. I'm a bloody idiot when it comes to this stuff.

As I look at Majik's picks, I'm noticing a few faces that never get discussed (because they're so under-the-radar they won't even be considered), so in an attempt to divert from the usual (and boring at this point) Wilde talk, what are everyone's wildcard choices? You know, the ones that you know have pretty much no shot at even being considered?

My wildcards:

1. Caroline Dhavernas
2. Alexa Davalos
3. Missy Peregrym

Congratulations!!!!

Now don't post anything so useless again....

And I'm sorry for being such an a**hole.... I mean it :yay:

:woot:

No problem buddy.

I'm sorry for being such an idiot. I can't help it. :yay:

Dammit... Now I really feel like an a**hole...

Wait... how did you get almost 9000 posts without posting a link...?

i wouldnt have a problem with Alexa Davalos. ans she already worked on Clash of Titans.

OK, so Michelle Monaghan is still my number one... but I wouldn't say no to Gemma Arterton. I imagine she's already been shot down by everyone here already but haven't got the energy to look through 5 Lois Lane threads lol!

I can't see Mila Kunis in the role anyway so I'm glad she turned it down. Harley Quinn maybe? ;)

You know the fact I used to love that 70s show and am a big Family Guy fan I just cant take Mila Kunis voice seriously

Yeah I loved That '70s Show too but yeah you're right. Her voice just doesn't suit Lois at all!! Okay my mind is made up. While I'd like to have had Monaghan and McAdams for Lois in the past, I'm afraid they're much too old for Cavill now so I'm definitely jumping on the Wilde bandwagon too! ;)

Rachel MacAdams is definitely not too old for Cavil....

ive said before that i really like the idea of her being lois. i feel like she would do a great job. its just that i can't even begin to imagine her with an american accent.

Oh, and I also have to say, after reading the last few pages, Leighton Meester wouldn't be too bad

I think Arterton is my top pick, honestly. she's a pretty good actress... i think she has the fiery, driven quality that Lois needs, and she's good with comedy.

and IMO, out of everyone, she has the best look. not harsh-looking like Wilde, but not as cutesy as maybe Monaghan.
and there's just something about having a brown-eyed lois that I really like.

again, the only concern is the accent... but i would be surprised if a well-learned actress such as herself doesn't know how to pull off a convincing american accent.

PLUS SHE'S STUNNING. just sayin.

ITA... Gemma is a VERY competant actress. Anyone who disagrees NEEDS to watch Alice Creed.

As for her being stunning, OBVIOUSLY she is, but not in a threatening kinda way. She could easily be one of the girls in the office where I work. She's just so likeable. That's the problem with Olivia, her beauty is so... cold?

I think my main resistance to Olivia as LL is the fact that she is obviously Hollywood's latest "It girl"... she's suggested for EVERY female lead role (Catwoman, Talia, Lara Croft, Lois Lane...) much the same way as Megan Fox was rammed down our throats after Transformers and Keira Knightley after Pirates of the Caribbean, you can't go to a casting thread for ANY female role without "Olivia Wilde" being deemed the PERFECT choice. This seems to be despite the fact that she has yet to shown herself to possess any extraordinary acting skills. She's an average actress, she's not bad by any means, but she hasn't shown herself to be any better then the likes of other TV actresses trying to branch out into movies, like Jessica Biel or Blake Lively. At the end of the day, she's an OK actress with an incredibly unusual face who can read a line without making me cringe. I want more from Lois. I want an actress who will make it her own and totally kill it. Olivia Wilde is Olivia Wilde in every. single. role.

I do like her though :-) Nice girl.

has caroline dhavernas been mentioned? she's like 5 yrs older than cavill, but i think she can pull it off.

Doesn't she have some new TV show now? That could possibly get in the way of things if she tried out for the role.

I don't disagree that Olivia is the "it" girl right now but she is far from over exposed. If DC doesn't grab her for one of it's properties, Marvel will. Olivia still has that untapped potential as she hasn't been signed for that many movies. As for her being too cold, I think that is mainly perception and lighting. In Tron she came across very sweet. She certainly can pull off outgoing and enthusiastic as well as mature.

Yeah, I'll acknowledge that Olivia is the "it girl" right now but that doesn't make her wrong for this or any other role. Most of the people criticizing her would be criticizing any other actress mentioned if she were the current it girl (unless said actress happens to be THEIR choice).
