I'm halfway thinking that we won't hear much about casting until Sucker Punch is released.

What does Sucker Punch have to do with the casting of Lois Lane?

Because that sir is still Snyder's baby. That's the first movie that he himself wrote. Im sure as excited as he is about Supes, Sucker Punch means alot to him. And he's going to have a lot on his plate with making the rounds about it.

I'd prefer either Anna Kendrick or Jessica Stroup out of the recent names mentioned. Don't like any of the other candidates for one reason or another. Sorry but Wilde just has a weird face with the sunken cheekbones and very angular face shape, would never be able to see her as Lois. Something about Wilde just makes her look alien-ish to me.

As for the "too young-looking" complaint usually leveraged against both Kendrick and Stroup, wouldn't it be better to have a younger Lois that can age along with Cavill for a series? Plus it's easier to make young people look older with that Hollywood movie magic, rather than the other way around. I'd think it'd be better if the Lois actress could be young and look slightly older instead of a little older.

I don't understand why people who don't like Wilde for the role always goes for the "she's ugly and strange looking" way of explaining why they don't like her for the role. I respect people who criticize her acting as thats legit but the she's "ugly" thing seems to be some silly I'm different from everyone else/enlighten fanboy bulls**t.

All these chicks look strange to different people. I would be completely fine with Kendrick getting the role and don't agree with the "too young" complaints but she looks strange and isn't as pretty as Wilde, Stroup and most other choices that people have brought up IMHO. Again I'm not completely set on one actress because I will leave myself open to accept any choice that WB/ZS/Nolan makes.

Wilde is brought up too much but the haters have become just as bad as the blind fans of hers who don't really want to look at anybody else for the role.

I'm with you on this. I'm definitely not a huge Wilde supporter, but she's clearly a very beautiful woman.

Personally, for me, it's not even a matter of not wanting Wilde for Lois, as much as it is that I really don't get why people want her for the role as much as they do. Sure, she's got a good look, but acting-wise I've seen nothing that would demonstrate to me why she's been put up on this pedestal of actresses that should play Lois. It just seems kind of random to me.

I'm not saying Wilde is ugly - I think she has a really interesting look that sets her apart from a lot of other actresses. "Weird" wasn't the right word - more like "unusual" maybe. IMO the Lois Lane actress should look like an "everywoman", not someone who'd really stick out in a crowd visually.

I don't have anything against Wilde per se, it's more just I don't see why it should be her over other actresses that have more everyday-type looks that'd be more believable - for me, anyway. As others have said, Superman loves Lois for her personality, not her looks.

I wouldn't mind Malin Akerman. She was great in Watchmen (watched director's cut last night) and she has a great look that dare I say is almost Erica Durance-ish. And for the love of god she is only 4 years older than Cavill. I'm sorry, but 4 yrs is no more a deal breaker than Cavill being only 6' 1". Kidder was about 4 yrs older than CR.

I agree with you that us Wilde fans don't have alot to go on and I could easily see her getting the role and not doing anything special with it but for some reason she is on my list. I see a spark there, a talent just waiting to break out and show that she is more than just a pretty face.

I hear ya and understand where you are coming from but I think that Wilde can play a regular woman just fine. There are certain very beautiful women, like Charlize Theron, who can play just a regular girl and Wilde is one of them IMHO.

Jolie can do it to when she's not interested in playing in her s**tty action movies where she doesn't move her face. A stunner like Megan Fox on the other hand has yet to convince me though.

Malin's a bad actor. She was the worst thing about watchmen, along with the horribly miscast goode.

I still think Lois should be a looker, you know. If Lois is "ugly" I kind of disconnect from the romance. Sure, Superman "loves her for her" but he's algo a guy, you know :o haha. I think Wilde has that balance. She's not too hot, or whatever, but she's also not ugly in the slightest. She seems right. I would be quite pleased if she got the role, but really, I don't have an official pick for Lois...

Kendrick really doesn't have the Lois look. Not even close. She also comes off younger and more mismatched for this role than Bosworth. She's a tiny little thing and comes off like a little girl.

She's someone who really shouldn't be associated with this role at all.

Akerman is 10 times better looking than Durance. They don't look alike at all.

However, I don't seriously think they'll cast a Lois Lane older than Cavill.

That's pretty good looking then. 4 yrs older is a piffle. If Snyder thought McAdams or Akerman could play the part I don't think he'd give it a second thought. 10 Years older possibly, but 4 years? Nah, close enough.

Agreed on both accounts and I like Durance as Lois on Smallville.

This isn't 1978, this is an even more youth obsessed hollywood culture, if they cast an actress who is even the same age as Cavill I'll be suprised. I'm sorry because I don't agree with it but thats the truth. As I keep saying the proof is in the pudding. Look at WB's recent castings.

Christain Bale 37

Anne Hathway 28

Ryan Reynolds 34

Blake Lively 23

Even when you look at casting of characters for the Marvel comicbook movies they best they do is cast the female lead thats the same same age or close to it to the male lead. Like in Captain America. EDIT: Portman is older than Hemsworth so that might give you guys some hope.

I hate to keep screaming the same thing over and over again but the odds against a woman being cast who is 3 to 5 years older than Cavill are slim to none, no matter how young she looks. I know some don't want to but I am in fact looking at 21 year old actresses too because you can never go young enough in hollywood.

I have another suggestion/somebody who I like.

Brittany Snow
normal_004.jpg

She's 25 and she is kinda cutesy (no more so than Kendrick) but she is a solid actress and I've seen spunk from her in Nip Tuck and some crummy movie (which she was good in) named Finding Amanda.

I wonder if Snyder was referring about Lois as one of the many casting choices that he deemed would be consistent in how awesome the choice is?

Rose would be excellent, but she's in X-Men, so that might be a problem for some people.

It's would only be a problem with fanboys who make up the *****e bag population amongst their peers, making other fanboys look bad in the process.

I'm ashamed of them.
