The Official Lois Lane Casting & Discussion Thread - Part 6

Oh, bull****. :o

I would say that even if Lois Lane's role is minor in this film, they still need someone that can continue with the sequels. So that would mean getting the best person possible which also means casting her now before major scheduling conflicts occur. So I still expect an announcement really soon. And if not by next month than not till the sequel. 50 pages of Lois casting wars?

After watching that Sarah Shahi video in the other thread I hope she's looked at for the part. Will her show prevent her from shooting a movie?

I'd say use Lois like Rachel in BB. Except more as a character who doesn't have much connection to Clark yet. I'm guessing Clark will be at the Daily Planet in this, but I doubt it will be a full blown romance. Clark will crush on her, but we don't have to go in depth.

A Lois announcement has to be the next piece of big casting news coming. It's been quiet for so long now, it's bound to happen next. TBH, I would be happy with ANY casting news right now, but I'd like it to be Lois.

As much as I want Lois and the villain(s), I actually like the fact that the Kents were announced first. I think that says alot about the movie... Snyder isn't casting villains and hot girls first, but the people that made Clark what he is.

That said, now I'm ready for Lois or Luthor.

You and I both (obviously). I doubt scheduling with USA would prevent it. They have postponed shows before if a particular actor/actress had something going on. It's not the norm for them, but they have enough other original programming to get by.

And why has Sarah Shahi not been added to the poll for a NEW thread

Perhaps they won't even use Lois in this film. Maybe they will just elude to her in the last lines of the film. For example in the closing moments in the film.

Person 1: We still don't know who this caped hero is.
Person 2: Lois Lane at The Daily Planet gave him a name and it's catching on.
Person 1: What did she call him?
Person 2: I believe it was Superman

Not saying that this is how they will go but why not right. If they can't properly cast her just wait another 2 years and try again.

Because the poll is broken.

I read a recent interview of Gemma Arterton and she said that she is attached for nine new projects..!! Maybe one of them is Man of steel..!

The other day I was trying to think of who might come out of nowhere and get Lois and I was like "Watch Kristen Bell get the role."

She DOES look pretty good with dark hair.

They may pull a Spider-Man and bust out with Lana for this one and save Lois for a sequel.

I hope so! Lana Lang is one of the first people Clark tell's his secret too. Lana did have an impact on Clark becoming Superman so I think she needs to be in there.

But, as has been pointed out before, Lois is more important to the Superman mythos than a made-up character like Rachel is to Batman. Lois is the reporter who breaks the Superman story, she reports on Superman, she works for the Daily Planet, so she's more than just a love interest. So even if she's not the main love interest of the movie, she'll still be in it.

They could have Clark break the Superman story like they did in John Byrne's Man Of Steel comics. Just sayin'.

The Variety/Deadline articles confirmed 3 female roles in this film. I'm assuming they are Martha, Ursa, and Lois.

She could have auditioned for Ursa or Lois and got shut down from those.
I strongly doubt Ursa, a character that was made up in the 1978 movie, would show up in the reboot. If they want a fresh take on Superman, they wouldn't pick a character who was created in the old movies.

My guess for the three main female characters is...
1. Martha Kent
2. Lana Lang
3. Lois Lane

I wouldn't mind it.

She's got a good spunky personality for the part. I'm not completely sold on her with dark hair, but I'd be cool with it.

well, it's more likely for Lana. I could picture her as the country girl from Smallville.

If it was for Lana, she would get it. Sure it was foi Lois.

But if she already knows she didn't get it, that's because they made a decision?
