The Official Lois Lane Casting & Discussion Thread - Part 6

oh well it doesn't say she's in talks, just says stone is looking at her

if she really has a shot at being lois, I think she'd make the right decision :)

Go with Stone, Olivia. :o

That's the problem with waiting too long to cast Lois imo. Most movies that start filming in the summer and fall are being cast right now. Either they are in final negotiations for Lois or they are idling too long. They might be left with very few realistic choices very soon.

then again, depending on how big of a role lois plays in the first movie, and how long stone's movie shoots, she might be able to do both

I hope Lois is already cast and they're just trying to spread out the announcements.

Superman first, then the Kents, next Lois or Luthor probably.

Thats what I'm hoping aswell either that or they have her but just ironing out the contract

As Amanda Seyfried said, they are in casting process, and Wilde probably already had a screentest. Or they didn't find the right actress yet, or they already find and they are waiting to the right moment to announce (probably after Sucker Punch release)

About Olivia, other sites said she's in talks, and who think she could do both films, well, I can just say a Brazilian proverb: Hope is the last to die...

She's not one of my favorites and I never believe she would get the part, I dont think it's interesting to her career at this moment, so...I don't care.

It doesn't matter how big Lois' role in the first movie is. You still want the best candidate possible cause it is a character that needs to grow with the series. They can't just pick any actress 2 weeks before filming.

edit: nvm I reread your post.

Cavill's been cast for about 2 months now, I find it unlikely Zack has been sitting on his loins and letting potential candidates getting nabbed up for other projects. I wouldn't at all be surprised if the role has been cast for a while, and all the hold-up is just to finalize contracts.

I find it very telling that many of the rumored candidates for this role, have been reported as being considered for other movies. If my presumption is correct, it likely means these actresses didn't get the role and are moving on. So if our Lois is already cast, I fully expect it to be a name that hasn't been in headlines recently.

Well, hopefully in another week or two we'll get another casting announcement.

hmmm, mcadams maybe?

wilde and mcadams are both my top picks, and I'd be ecstatic if either one got it

or Monaghan, or Blunt, or Deschanel... TBH most of the people we have been discussing are pretty open

I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being one of the Sucker Punch girls lol.

Yeah I certainly don't want just ass kicking. I want angst, pathos introspection, and abject frustration when he realizes that even he can't save everyone and must decide who lives, who dies. No turning back time. people must die. If there aren't consequences to actions, then it's all kind of pointless because if he can save everyone then we already know the outcome.

I want Superman to be the most revered loved person on the planet and to some degree Clark to be the loneliest. Superman's love for lois is the linchpin of Superman stories and is a must somewhere in this movie even if it is just a burgeoning romance setting up the full blown love story for the sequel.

I want a well rounded story with characters that make you care about them. What I don't want is a single minded overly noisy action video game kind of a movie like Transformers or Armageddon. Superman needs moments of quiet reflection in it as Clark figures out his purpose in life, and not just the Micheal Bay WHAM BAM THANK YOU MA'AM approach.

Sorry probably the wrong thread for this, but I was just responding to a post on this thread lol.

Has anyone posted this? I found it interesting. Says Amanda Seyfried was up for a role in Superman, but didn't get it.

I was going to post it...

Amanda Seyfried Has Auditioned For New Superman Movie (And Why She Isn’t In Sucker Punch)

Submitted by Brendon Connelly on March 20, 2011 – 4:14 pm(0) comments

The timing has shaken out so that Amanda Seyfried is doing the international PR rounds for Red Riding Hood just as Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch is about to be released. This will perhaps appear a little inopportune as Seyfried talks openly regarding her casting in the Sucker Punch lead role of Baby Doll, before having to pass it up – and therefore loudly pegging the film’s star Emily Browning as a “second choice.”

Of course, many second choices have turned out to work wonderfully (particularly where Harrison Ford is involved).

Speaking at an Australian press conference for her much-maligned sexywolf movie, Seyfried has talked about her non-casting in Sucker Punch, and while she’s at it, her non-casting in Zack Snyder’s next movie too:
I auditioned for a role in the new Superman and didn’t get it, and I really wanted Emily Browning’s role in Sucker Punch. I’d originally got that role and everything was in gear, but then I got the call from Big Love saying “we need you this season, you can’t do it.”
The director, Zack Snyder, fought for me, and I even called the head of HBO because I thought I wasn’t being used in Big Love in a way that was worth me losing out on Sucker Punch. At the time it didn’t seem like there was anything better. Big Love wouldn’t let me go so I cried a lot.
That’s all rather honest and candid. I can only assume her next comment was too, though it might seem rather less relatable:
Then I realised that actually it was good that I didn’t do it because, if I had, I wouldn’t have done Red Riding Hood.
Yeah. Not sure everybody else would agree with that. Just Seyfried, Catherine Hardwicke, Emily Browning and Emily Browing’s agent getting behind that one, maybe.

The full press conference report is at Adelaide Now.
