Did you watch LOST? That's Kate half the time to a "T".
I really don't agree. Kate was miserable 70% of the time, always pensive and serious. I don't remember her smiling a lot, and she always seemed to be sighing in some kind of 'i have the weight of the world on my shoulders' way...
She was sneaky, and she was disobedient, but she didn't have the quality that i'm talking about.
Basically Lois has to be HAPPY. Yes, not everything about her life is perfect, but she's enthusiastic and relishes in the adrenaline of her job's dangers, of doing things people have told her she 'CAN'T' do, and of beating other people to the story. It makes her giddy. She gets that glint in her eyes, and she grins, and she's proud of the fact she's pushed the boundaries again and gotten away with it... because she knows the lines she can't cross.
That's what was undeniably missing from Bosworth. Any Lois Lane who spends 70% of the movie looking pensive and sighing, is a bad Lois Lane.
But even Margot Kidder's Lois (who i'm not the biggest fan of), convinces herself it's okay to be on the bottom of an elevator with terrorists inside, climbing up the eifle tower, by repeating and spelling out 'Nobel Prize'.
