Nobody cared about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain? Or did no one in here watch the VGAs? I didn't, either, but it's been the biggest news of the night.

It is in the VGA thread.

My theory.

It takes place after Metal Gear 1 and/or 2. The main character is Big Boss (the petals scream Big Boss thinking about The Boss).

Project Ogre = The Formation of Foxhound. Either Big Boss does the formating or Foxhound is there to kill him.

Guy in badges = Either Gray Fox or Decoy.

Phantom Pain = Psycho Mantis. Everything we are seeing seems like it is in Big Boss' head. Volgin, Paz, The Boss' horse, the petals.

Other titles and footage will be the other characters/chapters.

We will get to the point that Big Boss' legend will crush Snake's. Not that I am complaining, I love them both.

Is this Phantom Pain (MGSV) trailer out somewhere? :wow:

I can't believe I missed it. Darn.

Oh my goodness I just saw the trailer. Mind fudged into the 9th dimension.

Phantom Pains (AKA MGS5) Trailer:

The movement is so obviously Metal Gear.

The biggest WTF is the missing arm. Big Boss only lost limbs after MG2. So this could be about how he awakened from his coma in MGS4?

But he looks way too young to be Big Boss at that point in time.

EDIT: Oh you said MG2 I got yah. I was thinking MGS2 like a dummy.

Didn't Revolver looks the opposite arm? So Liquid's arm would be matching no?

Kind of like you know it is Big Boss because it is his right eye. All the fire makes me think post Metal Gear 2, Big Boss' now not a big fan of fire and it is in his head.

But he looks way too young to be Big Boss at that point in time.

He looked younger then Snake in MGS4, and if this is a bit of time before that, I can see it making sense. Not that it really matters, Kojima will do what he wants, he doesn't care about his own continuity.

Also he is kind of in love with Big Boss. He has pretty much become the hero of Metal Gear.

I can't remember which arm Liquid lost, but if it's BB then it's definitely before Naomi and EVA finished their patchwork on him.

The burning Volgin figure hints at BB, but at this point I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being a Liquid game.

Ignore what I wrote I misread it as MGS2. Oberon wrote after MG2 which I think is actually a possibility.

Something interesting:

Besides the account given in the manual for Metal Gear 2, a call to George Kesler during the final battle mentioned a rumor that Big Boss lost his eye during the battle in Outer Heaven, alongside his limbs and his right ear before he was reconstructed as a cyborg under the Snatcher Project, referring to an earlier work by Hideo Kojima.

That also ties in with Kojima comments from earlier this month about trying to start (or restart) another franchise using the Metal Gear series.

Phantom Pains seems as if it's covering that period of time and may even be a launch vehicle for Kojima's Snatcher sequel.

Liquid had to lose the same arm as Ocelot. Ocelot loses his right arm. If they had to Franken-Snake Boss, they would need the left arm, which is the one Liquid would still have.

Also, could be the Patriots trying to kill him.

The child in the Psycho Mantis suit makes it fair to question whether anything in the trailer is "real," or at least not a distorted reality. The bigger question to me is how this fits with Ground Zeroes. Unless Kojima's very ambitious, I can't see them as separate releases, yet this one's straight up called Metal Gear Solid V.

Doesn't really look Blade Runnery though. Snatcher might be involved, but I can't see this being a platform to relaunch it, but you never know.

Could very well be the same game. Or GZ could be a shorter prologue.

I agree on the Psycho Mantis thing. I believe the reason the Big Boss imagery is there because he is in his head.

Found something else that may hint at Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pains being linked!

Remember this?

"From "FOX", two phantoms were born"

Yeah saw that. Though I think that is a direct reference to Foxhound and XOF.

Because Kojima has such a hard time playing around with titles. Moby Dick Studios yall. ;)
