youve got alot of anger havent u lantern?

Im not wrong and it has nothing to do with anger...the fandom can be unreasonable at times, actually most of the time

It's weird to be such a huge Thor fan and not be angry about something now that we're getting more details about the movie. I wonder if there's something wrong with me. :csad:

its a while yet, maybe something will slip out that will send you into a righteous rage

Mjolnir looks practically dead on 616 to me. I don't get the gripes.
heh reminds me of the Days FF was being made and the gripes about Thing's brow. there was a GROUP of us constantly having to SHOW people the original Kirby Thing. lol

....i dont think we'll see any villians able to lift it in the avengers films, it just defeats such a mammoth task and character trait of thors far too easily
Considering the Hulk isn't a villain, you didn't see it in the video I linked either. The dichotomy of the (green) Hulk is he's a pure spirit, therefore absolutely worthy of weilding Mjolnir, yet he's one of but a few characters in the Marvel universe that doesn't need to.

Dude, that scene's totally in there. It's stupid, but it's in there. I'm just glad that it doesn't count for s*** outside of that one terrible movie.

its just the scene of Hulk hitting Thor with the hammer, I was referring to Hulk threatening a civilian and Thor tossing his hammer away...or is that in one of the books?

That was from the comics.

The Hulk has never been worthy of Mjolnir. Even in that animated movie, he lifted the Ultimate version of Mjolnir through sheer strength, which doesn't work for the classic hammer. It's worthiness, automatons, energy constructs, zero gravity, and that's it.

I have one question about Mjolnir, I was just looking through the Marvel Wikia and it said the blacksmiths Eitri, Brok, and Buri forged it, but I was always under the impression that a Dwarven blacksmith by the name Brokkr did. Am I confusing Norse mythology with the Marvel flavour of it, or am I wrong on all counts?

you might be confusing Norse mythology with Marvels version of it....Norse mythology (Prose Edda) has Mjolnir being cast by Svartalfar, Sindri, and Brokkr...Marvel has like 2 or 3 different origins for Mjolnir IIRC

Marvel's also given various origins for Mjolnir and there are always a few changes in each one. I don't even remember which dwarves were involved in the most recent version. :o

Eitri, Brok, and Buri were from the Rag arc.
I don't recall if it were the same three in the First Draft tho,
just that Odin had ordered weapons to be made by the Dwarves for the warriors in the halls of Valhalla. Thor, Loki, and Balder were to pick up the weapons.

the hammer was originally made for Loki, but he did something f'd up and Odin took the hammer and gave it to Thor, but Thor had to prove himself worthy of the weapon

not sure where thats from, maybe one of the older arcs

I don't think it was ever originally made for Loki. The version I remember says that it was created for Odin, but he only used it a few times and then set it aside as a reward for Thor to work toward. Tales of Asgard and Son of Asgard both portrayed Thor's adolescence as pretty much a series of quests and errands to prove he was worthy and gain possession of Mjolnir.

Yeah that's the Tales of Asgard story.
Thor had to become worthy himself by proving himself worthy through so many quests. Kind of Like Hercules' quests to become a god.

Loki had actually disturbed the dwarves while they were making Mjolnir and the handle to Mjolnir ended up short because of Loki's interference

Yeah, he became a fly and bothered the dwarf who was fanning the flames of the forge, which caused him to take his hand away from the bellows for a second. But since the dwarves are such gifted, precise craftsmen, that second is enough to ruin the forging of the hilt by making it too short.

Ah, the good old day! :)

Something just occured to me and maybe one of you Thorfiles can answer this. Does Mjolnir fall to the ground if Thor is not grasping it? I was wondering this because it is always depicted as being extremely heavy where only Thor can lift it or one who is worthy such as Cap or BRBill. I figure it would suck if Thor had to hold it at all times making it difficult perhaps to steer a horse and such.

Nah. This is shaping up to be one of the best super hero movies ever. :wow:

No, it either hangs on his belt or on his back when not in use

The belt loop is obviously worthy :woot:!

Just wanted to know - Does anyone think the enchantment will be made known in this film? I mean...

it's just lying in that crater when Coulson finds it. Since people are there working already, I'd imagine the enchantment IS there. Otherwise they'd have moved it back to their hq.

So where does the Thor film fit in compared to IM2?

If the audience is to be made aware of it, then how? Have Thor drop it accidentally (ugh), and some steriod Thor lookalike try pick it up and fail? OH GOLDEN - Imagine if HHH was cast in that role!

Yes I know it won't happen. With HHH anyway.

I don't see why not and why would a wrestler be in a movie like this??

I think as long as Mjolnir is with Thor via one of his belts it won't fall to the ground.
Tho it doesn't float on it's own unless it's in space where there's no gravity.

Given that the hammer's landing site didn't seem particularly well-protected, I imagine we'll see something similar to the scene in JMS' Fantastic Four story where the people of the nearby city start lining up to take a turn at trying to lift it. They'll all fail and only Thor will be able to move it. That should sufficiently get the worthiness enchantment across; people are well aware of Excalibur and its similar magical refusal to move from the stone for anyone besides King Arthur, and that scene from Fantastic Four was practically identical to the sword in the stone part of the King Arthur legend.

I'm sure the enchantment will be made known to some extent.
In some ways I hope they use some of the Story ideas JMS had with the line of people and formed to pick up Mjolnir and failing, and if Thor is next to Mjolnir unconscious, it'd be a nice scene where Thor wakes up and effortlessly picks up Mjolnir.

Thanks Vartha. So the fact of the matter is that if Thor placed Mjolnir on a scale it would weigh just as any warhammer would and the enchantment would make it impossible for anyone to come along and lift it. Therefore the enchantment has nothing to do with weight.
