Nice to get the 1st official details.
I'm not going to comment on the hardware bits. I'll leave that to the more technically inclined here. Other than all that sounds nice......lol.
The only hardware part I'll comment on is the SSD internal drive. It's nice SSD will offer faster loading times and other benefits. But my concern is. What will be the size of the internal?
I was hoping for next gen, we'd get at least 2 TB ( with 1 TB being the bare minimum ). But if we are getting SSD drive, which are more expensive but with less space for the price, will a 1 TB or 2 TB SSD be cost feasible for the console? Does that mean we will be getting something like 250 GB to 500 GB?
Will we be able to still swap the internal drive like we could on PS3 and PS4? And, will we still have the option to plug in an external drive like we can now with the PS4? I hope we get the option to do BOTH.
As for game file sizes, will they continue to get larger and larger? Or can they come up with some kind of "compression" solution to shrink those file sizes down ( for example, a 60 GB game now only takes up 40 GB )? Will they improve the download/install process to make it more efficient?
As for the other stuff mentioned in the article, I'm glad PS4 BC is confirmed. That was almost a bare minimum given, and I'm glad my PS4 library will continue to be playable on the next system.
Now, it would be even better if they can go the next step and enable FULL PS1-PS3 BC ( via emulation, I guess ). Man, if they announce full PS1-PS3 BC ( both via disc and digital ), THAT would seal the deal for me and pretty much ensure I get the PS5 over the next Xbox. There are way more classic PS1-PS3 titles I'd love to be able to play via BC than there are OG Xbox and 360 games. If PS5 was one system that could play all Playstation games, that would be golden.
