Is PS Home transferring over to PS4 or is it just a PS3 thing?,Sony hasn't said anything about it and that's a shame cause it has much potential!

I'd be playing it more often IF they added actual interactions between avatar characters,I want the option to fight it out at one of the night clubs/grab someone's hand/hug people/smack people on the back of the head/sprint instead of jogging/able to actually use props/etc

I'm pretty sure it'll carry over. It's got a fairly solid userbase. Also, that's sort of weird.

Except for DCUO I probably won't download the other F2P until later on,Will be busy and addicted with Battlefield 4&DCUO and GTAV&WWE2K14 on PS3

Home seems a bit redundant with the features and improvement the PS4 will have. Im not sure if Sony will even bother investing in making a PS4 version or if they will simply leave it as a PS3 thing. It doesn't seem like an efficient use of resources as gamers for the most part overwhelmingly don't care for it and it never quite lived up to what it was intended to be

It still has a decent size userbase that spends a decent amount on some very odd stuff, so I wouldn't rule it out.

Maybe but to me it always seemed more like a way to make money of online functionality since they don't charge for PSN. With that changing with the PS4, they don't really need Home for that. When Home was launched it was toted as a way to increase connectivity with gamers by providing this environment for you to interact, chat, find parties and launch games directly from game space, watch videos together, etc... All of that and more is streamlined into the PS4's OS and more advanced with less limitations. Why need to launch a separate program in order to access that functionality?

If there is Home in any capacity on the PS4, I don't see it existing as it is now. I can see Sony doing the occasional promotional tie stuff like with E3, but an entire ecosystem that they have to maintain as they are now? If they did that, I think it would really be a waste and quite redundant as I don't see what it could offer that the PS4 already cant

Yeah, but Home still makes money. Why take away that stream just because you're making another stream?

PC games today are optimized with 4 gigs in mind excluding mods.
Yep, but I wonder what the expected optimal RAM for top games will be in 7/8 years. Hopefully not more than PS4 & XB1 have spare. This ultra-long life cycle plan that has been introduced this gen and planned for next gen means future-proofing is much more important than previous generations yet both top consoles are launching with half the RAM of my non top end pc and potentially a big chunk of that necessary for current OS or future OS operations. I don't think the RAM is going to be great for certain types of games when the generation starts getting old.

I think maybe that's why they could be holding back.. Future proof if you will. Who's to say they won't open up more as time goes on? I guess we'll all just have to wait and see.

Sony announced today that Party Chat wo t be behind the pay wall.

  • well I don't have to put up that story on the party chat any more. This is also news that put before that one Bens just put up thank you for the info Bens

So what's the final good&bad news now on it?

I don't think there's any real bad new . not to day any way. seems fine

Bad news for some is that with the RAM allotment that the PS4 won't be able to...I don't know, power a small town or some ****. I think the big thing for a lot of people is that it seems to have evened out the power difference between it and the Xbone to some extent. Before we got the allotted RAM amounts, I think there was some expectation that the PS4 was on an entirely different level or something like that.

Isn't that also what the cloud system is supposed help compensate for ? before it was as saying with MS Xone all? That was the original intention of it if I remember it right. lol no I'm talking none sense with that statement.

Any way I wasn't expecting it to be that much more then the XBone in power there ram wise. Not by a overly large margin.

I think it was sort of half and half. There was RAM that was alloted for OS and other things, but not as much as originally rumored. There's also this talk of RAM that could be used for both games and other stuff with magic, or something

so the RAM issue isn't that big of a deal then?

No. The two consoles have basically the same amount of RAM available for games. The PS4 has faster RAM than the One, and as Sony optimizes the OS over the course of the life cycle, more and more RAM will become available to developers. Sony was able to get the PS3 OS from 120MB at launch down to just 50MB over the life cycle.

The current rumor of around 5GB-6GB available for developers is still a massive leap over the current generation. It's all still rumor though, Sony hasn't confirmed or denied anything.

The reason they are holding off so much RAM for the OS is to futureproof it. They didn't do that with the PS3 and it made things much harder when they tried to add features like Trophies and the in-game XMB.
