PS4 getting Theme support in update 2.0!!

hopefully this means you can use your own images as background. and if that's the case, hopefully that means a full blow media player app is also part of 2.0.

Theme support isn't that high on my priority list. but it's nice to have and if it points the way towards a larger UI overhaul as well as features from the PS3 ( cough....media player....cough ) then that's all for the best.

as I said in the Xbox thread, a tweet seemed to suggest that themes are downloaded from the PSN store.

so, that seems to rule out importing themes from a flashdrive.

but, we'll see. The PS4 does technically already support USB flashdrives, cuz you can save/import game files from them.

I actually don't mind the blue background, so theme support isn't that big a deal for me.

I'd much rather have a redesigned UI, media playback and a better browser.

Some of the best themes I have for the PS3 were free either through PS+ or Pre-orders.

maybe they'll announce the rest of the features and the release date then.

I'll be kind of pissed if media playback doesn't make the list of new features. especially now that it's available on the X1.

Legit the only OS feature I actually want is a way to "pin" things on the home screen, or at least ways to hide things. In general, I just want those dumb media folders/apps to stay at the back of the list, haha.

yes it is. i never played any of the games before, but I realize that this is a very long running 3rd party playstation franchise. they should just cancel the ps3 port and make the ps4 version tho.

Any game that was actively in development for last gen shouldn't be canceled just because a next gen port is announced. That's silly thinking. Plus the main audience for this is in Japan, so it'd be bad business to cancel the version of the game that will, without a doubt, sell the most in your biggest region.

and a Sony "insider" who's been right about other leaks had been tweeting that media playback was supposed to come in the 1.8 update around Gamescom. well, it looks like they're skipping right to 2.0, so hopefully those often requested features will be included in 2.0......

I guess I'll believe when I see it.

you know this isn't a Sony vs MS type thing. The PS3 and PS4 aren't in competition with each other. Atlus and Sony both benefit regardless of what the sales ratio is. Considering its more of a niche title with a limited fanbase it would be silly to cut out so many potential sales by canning the PS3 version. There is absolutely no reason why Atlus would or should do that. They aren't a big company as it is

and I know the playstations aren't competing with each other, but when there's a ps3 port of the same game on the ps4 it gives gamers less of an incentive to upgrade... it also makes the game not a true new gen title you know

I have no idea, but the situation is entirely different. Watch Dogs was a highly hyped AAA title put out by a big publisher with huge marketing and minstream appeal. Persona 5 is a game in a franchise that is mostly popular in Japan, a country in which consoles are mostly dead with the PS4 averaging like 5k a week or something, and was also announced initially as a PS3 exclusive. It'll do some numbers in other regions, but it's definitely a very niche title outside Japan.
