wow! yeah, those were some big names.

I think it's actually better those got delayed till next year. cuz there's plenty coming out right now. it would have been WAY too crowded with all those other games.

but now the early part of next year is super crowded so its the same issue. Im feeling the opposite bc I feel this fall is bleak. Really only ACU and LBP3 on my radar

Yeah, 2014 as whole has been pretty disappointing in a lot of ways. 2015 should be great though. The games we know about that are coming will already make it better than this year. (Assuming they don't **** the bed like a lot of high profile releases from this year and are actually good.) Plus, who knows what games might be coming next year that are unannounced.

Six Days Later, PS4's v2.00 Update Is Still Causing Problems

It's been almost a week since the rocky 2.00 firmware update went live on PS4, and although Sony has acknowledged all of the issues it's caused, there's still no ETA on when things will be fixed.

PS4 v2.00, which came out last Tuesday, has triggered a number of widespread problems over the past few days, most notably involving the system's newly-renamed Rest Mode. This mode suspends the PS4, allowing users to charge their controllers and download games while the system isn't in use. But with the new firmware installed, many PS4 owners (including a few Kotaku writers) have run into the somewhat-worrying problem of the system not turning back on after falling asleep. (More like Coma Mode, am I right?)

The solution, for now: don't use Rest Mode. If you must use Rest Mode, and you do run into this problem, don't unplug your PS4—just hold the power button until it turns off.

That's not all, of course: the new system update has also led to a host of other random problems involving sounds, party chat, messages, and the PS4's user interface. (Many of these issues have been documented by Redditors here.)

On Friday, publisher 2K Games delayed the PS4 alpha of their upcoming shooter Evolve, citing v2.00 as the reason. (The alpha has since gone live on PS4, and it's all been extended until Tuesday.)

So, yes, it's something of a disaster.

Sony has got to get its **** together. Immediately.

I had one problem with Rest Mode and nothing else. Sucks for people having issues, but everything's been more or less running smooth for me.

The DualShock 4's ergonomics are great, but three critical flaws make it the weakest component of the PlayStation 4 package.

I can confirm (having taken my DS4 apart) that the hinge and spring on the triggers is incredibly cheap and flimsy. They can break just opening the thing up and the spring is so damn small if you drop the thing your not likely to find it. Any kind of enthusiatic pulling on those triggers will definitely cause issues.

I'm keeping the X1 this time, I promise. :halo:

but yeah, when you compare the price/bundles/games and overall value offered, the X1 is the clear winner this holiday season.

I'm surprised Sony didn't release some kind of big exclusive ( other than LBP3 ) this holiday season.

sony gettin cocky. yeah i think the order was supposed to come out earlier... would've been a great offering for christmas 2014

Not really. There is a reason X1 is giving all these great deals, they are losing badly. So they are desperate to gain sales. Sony is not. If they make massive losses in many consecutive months, ya Sony may change their strategy. People do forget though, it's not always about deals. With the online world, everyone wants to play with their friends. 2/3 of next gen owners have a PS4. So if another friend wants to play, it his highly likely they will get a PS4 for that reason as well.

I've noticed a lot of just Sony hate (which was always the case in these forums except for like 8 months last year.) which a lot is unfounded. Does Sony have issues with the PS4? Yes? Has the X1 had it's massive slew of problems and still does....yes. People are acting around here like the X1 is some perfect system. I think many Xbox fans have ran back to them acting as if they did nothing wrong.

There are definitely things Sony needs to improve on, and I think they will. If the sales start to lag very possibly. Even if MS won November and December, that is not going to mean doom and gloom. You do understand that Sony has tons of big exclusive games coming out next year that will turn the tide once again. Having a few months of a small victory could just be drops in the bucket. Maybe not, but also people do forget many will still by the PS4. People act like MS is just going to dominate these next two months....they also said the same about Titanfall's release in March. The price cut of 100 dollars...both those times nothing happened. I do think MS has a good chance this month. But I still think some are really underestimating Sony and just bashing on them because they are the popular console this round and some just always go for the under-dogs.

Even if MS does win November...it probably won't be by a lot. People act like they will just run Sony they may sell a few thousand, 50,000 units more or something along those lines but Sony will still sell a lot too. MS would really have to sell a lot for many many many months to really catch up.

It will be interesting to see what happens in November/December. It shows that MS is desperate, they are not getting the sales they want so of course they go to another price drop. That actually shows how worried they are. 150 bucks in less than a year? Ya they are nervous. Sony does have things they need to fix, and I don't think many will deny that, but lets stop acting like it's a massive failure of a machine because it is FAR from that. I see a lot of hyperbole being thrown around with certain people these past few months.

i'm not sure but I think it was phil spencer who said the real fight is october, november, december. yeah he probably said that coz his console was losing the whole year but hey.

but sony is being cocky. just think about it for a second. forget the competition and just think about the playstation and its offerings for this christmas. essentially the only exclusives are dc and lbp3. dc sucks, that is the general consensus now, and lbp3 is a cross platform game, and that's all. i love lbp so i'll get it either way, but it's not enough not enough to justify buying a Ps4 for for most consumers I don't think, nor is it a game that'll probably interest a good chunk of Ps4 owners. sony should've given something more.

ever since the Ps4 launched, the PsN on it has been having issues, even moreso than on Ps3, and now we're paying for it! We should expect xbox live levels of quality now if we're paying for it just like them. one of the best things ABOUT playstation was playing online for free, at a cost of a sucky playstation network only now we're paying for the sucky network. and within the year, sony hasn't done enough to improve things.

you're probably right in that even if the xbone outsells the Ps4 it may not be my much. hell it may not even happen at all. but we're on the brink of 2015, if Ps4 loses its momentum now, it may ripple into next year, since BOTH consoles are getting a ton of exclusive games.

Besides people talking about their feelings and bashing the system's flaws the last couple pages, it's nice to see a different perspective for once :funny: :oldrazz:

Aside from that I'm hoping they start releasing different color versions of the Dualshock 4 soon. I see some are available here and there but I want red. I play on an X1 at just about everyday at work and I think the DS4 is way better, I broke my first X1 controller's left trigger my first week on it and the LB and RB are too easy to accidentally press (that might be because my hands are a little bigger than average I suppose but in that case it's a little too small). Overall, I actually find the 360 controller better than the X1's.

The main problem I have with the DS4 I guess you could say is the battery life but the way my set-up is I don't really need to worry about it since I can plug it into my computer whenever I need to. If you also hold and squeeze the triggers at a certain angle and strength, I can make the triggers squeek a bit, but I haven't had much issue with them. Huge improvement over the last dualshock which feels weird to me now.

The thing is, most people buy multi-plat. The Halo collection is just the same old stuff from before. It's a cool collection, but not some new exclusive. Sunset Overdrive or whatever really is not getting buzz. It will be about AC, COD, FarCry, Dragon's Age this Christmas. The masses are more interested in that than any of the exclusives on either side. And the Halo one again is not "new". So the GA is going to look more at this years multi-plat regardless of which console. PSN has had problems but so much of it has been overstated by many that hardly use it. I've had a few issues, but nothing big. People seem to focus when PSN get's hacked, but never mentions during that time that XLive did too. So many don't see any of the exclusives this Christmas that enticing, it is about the third party. Next year it will be different.

No one is denying the problems but don't act like MS has some perfection down, there is a reason they are in the situation they are in. It won't ripple into next year. Next year Sony starts strong with loved exclusives. And there is not a ton of third party games coming out in early 2015 save for The Witcher 3. The ripple would have to be huge, and many in here are really being hyperbolic, and trying to spell doom, when evidence has shown nothing but the opposite.

Driveclub sucks? :funny: Have you played it? I have it and love it, shareplayed it with my brother and friend and they like it as well. It sucks it's had server issues but the game is a decent racer. Is it a game-changer? No. But people are just mocking/bashing it because of the delay and they still had issues at launch. They should honestly release a documentary of the story behind that game, I'm so intrigued with what was going on behind those doors.

There are still plenty of titles to choose from for potential new PS4 owners and current ones this holiday season, I have my list of games I'm keeping my eyes on, I know that much. But hey, to each their own if you don't see anything you want in the next couple months. You could justify buying a PS4 for Last Of Us Remastered alone, throw in inFamous, Advanced Warfare, Destiny, DC, NBA2K15, or whatever the heck you prefer, you should be fine. You could say they should have offered more, but it's not like X1 has a huge list of exclusives coming this holiday season. The biggest one I see is Halo collection (which is what one of my friends is getting an X1 for actually :hehe:) but that's all I see.

As far as paying to play online, PS3 is still free online so there's that. You also still get a ton of value in free games monthly that makes up for the cost rather quickly. Whether you like the games they offer or not is another story. And XBL has issues too, don't worry, but for some reason, they need to make it a breaking news story on sites if PSN does, even if for an hour.

the halo collection isn't anything new, but a lot of people are pretty damn excited about it. it is something halo for new gen. and it includes a beta for halo 5.

and i ain't saying microsoft is a saving grace. if you ask me still, the Ps4 is the better system but solely because of its games, and that's purely subjective. meaning, you can't go wrong either way (I still wouldn't own both) and both have their perks and their annoyances, but I prefer playstation. my point with mentioning so and fh2 is to just to show that xbone owners have more options this holiday, period.

who knows, maybe this holiday will turn lbp into one of playstation's top selling franchises.

i would love to play it but they haven't released the free version yet. i haven't been hearing very many good things about it and the reviews aren't good, either. i know reviews are not the end all for decision making but they mean something... the glowing reviews for Uc2 is what made me want to go out and get it.

tlour is a great game to justify buying a ps4 for, but i'm talking about just this christmas season. there's nothing coming out in q4 except lbp3 and dc. to me, lbp is a franchise worthing owning a playstation for, but i don't think the general consumer would agree. plus the third one is not a true gen title since it just a ps3 port with slightly better visuals.

and yeah ps3 is still free but umm... so what? the ps4 ain't. that's a $0 annual fee to a $50 annual fee. i had a few friends who aren't too big into gaming at the moment who owned 360s and said to me "yo so yeah I'm thinking of just getting a Ps4 now instead of the next xbox since the online is free" and then i tell them that now for playstation you have to pay to play online and they're like "WHAT?!"

and honestly I don't think xbl has had as many issues as PsN. i definitely have played it and seen some lagging and it baffled me that it was happening at all, but it happens way more often on PsN. too often in my opinion to justify paying $50 for.

PS fans have choices as well. It's just you may not care for the exclusives, but they are quite raved. LBP still has a following. As big as Halo? No. But it's still a good AAA game. There is pretty much as many options. Again Halo is still not new. But yes it is popular.

Sony is not going to be destroyed, but there are things they need to fix, and I'm sure they will. But really the true Sony wave starts when they have their exclusives next year, from Uncharted 4, to Bloodborne, The Order etc. And remember this December they are having their big event and probably will be announcing games there. Mainly and finally (hopefully) The Last Guardian. The generation has just started and we know that Sony has tons of exclusives down the road, and it was not going to happen in the first year.

Also with the PSN, it's actually strong, for some reason people poke at it rather than Live. Live was for sure the starter or all this and for years was much better. But as someone that has played a lot on both, the woes and lag of PSN I think are pretty over stated.

i'm talking solely about q4 bro. this christmas, are there any other exclusives being offered other than lbp3 and dc? i cannot think of any. not somehting AAA. the xbone has fh2, project spark, so, and the halo collection. they also have the cod bundle, and a price cut, and some really good deals, the whole buy 2 get 1 free or whatever but i think that applies to Ps4 as well.

I agree with you that lbp3 is gonna be a great AAA but like I said, i don't think the general consumer would. but let's see, maybe this'll be the best selling lbp yet, just like iss was the best entry to the infamous series.

maybe you're one of the luckier ones having little to no issues with your playstation, but it sucks being the unlucky one and me and thundercrack already know what that's like. it sucks, man. and yeah i can't wait for Uc4, but the xbone is also getting a plethora of games next year ain't it? the only ones i can think of are tr and halo 5 but there's gotta be more.

Most people are not having problems though. If they were as massive as some claim it to be, it would be like the 360 where the FTC came in and made them chose between recall or a 3 year warranty, which they went with the latter. And having the RROD issue all over the media and front cover on magazines type of stuff.

It's not lucky, you guys are unlucky with some of these problems. Now 2.0 had some problems with people, but they are fixable, but as for a lot of the other problems, not as extreme as some one here try to indicate, which is sad that this entire forum has been flooded with it. It's mainly because MS went from complete idiots to a 180 of being on the right track again. So people look at that gap and go oh they really have changed. When in reality they have just caught up with Sony and still are trying to do so. Price cuts are not good things. That kills MS a lot. But they have to do it, they are that desperate.

But saying PS4 does not have choices is wrong, you may not like the choices as much but there are those that do. PS4 does not need as many choices right now because they are not hurting. MS is not doing it because they are a bunch of good guys that love you. They are doing it because they are getting destroyed in sales, and their Titanfall, and price cut of 100 dollars did nothing. They have no choice. I think some are confusing this with MS being great people. They have to do these choices are they will be utterly destroyed. Sony does not have that worry right now. You and I know Sony will have more exclusives...they have way way way more in house devs then MS.

Sony does have choices, but right now they don't need a lot. People like the console for what it is. MS has a lot to prove that's why it's making them look so good to some on these boards, they are really just playing catch up. And still struggling at that.

now that I own both consoles, I really don't have a dog in this race.

although, for the near future, I'm going to be favoring the X1.

I want the X1 to do well, not just for its own longevity and viability, but also so it will become a stronger competitor ( and thus a bigger "threat" ) to wake up Sony up.

healthy competition is always good. :)

Yes competition is good, but hearing you continue to say Sony needs to wake up is what makes me roll my eyes. Yes they have a few issues they need to fix, but they are not these huge ordeals. Yes we know you like to pirate your movies and you have a billion reasons why they should have video support etc. Yes they need to fix these things but they are not unfixable or vital.

Now I agree they need to add these supports, and they need the competition to do so. But you act like it ruins the entire console. And again acting like MS is so much better for what they do....when they had no choice because they REALLY messed up with some major functions and things with the X1. But have had to correct it. Sony has issues but they are not these massive things, they have been heading in right area for a long time, with some small adjustments needed.

well, neither console is perfect. and I'm not pretending the X1 is some magic, perfect system either.

and I'm not saying lacking certain features ruins the PS4. I don't believe I've ever said that. and I'm not selling my PS4 either. it's just made it a more frustrating experience.........for me.

for my needs, the X1 right now has more of the features that I want. and, for the near future, the X1 has more exclusives I'm interested in.

There is nothing wrong with that. But it does come off that way that you see the X1 as some perfect system, while ripping non-stop on the PS4. Your frustrations I think come from such a small place, and a minor feature. I just think at times you go over the top about it how bad it is. Does it have issues? Of course. Both of them do.

Your frustrations I think come from such a small place, and a minor feature. I just think at times you go over the top about it how bad it is. Does it have issues? Of course. Both of them do.

oh no. the X1 is definitely not perfect. and there are still areas where the PS4 is better than the X1. and vice versa. both systems have their pros and cons.

and when I get frustrated about something, I tend to get "vocal" about it to vent my frustration.

however, I'm trying to tone it down and this particular issue has been debated and discussed here before, so I really don't want to bring it up again.....lol.

When I start recording gameplay via the share button,Do I need to let it record for at least 15 minutes before it gets put into the gallery? I've tried recording some gameplay for like 5-10 and tap the share button but it just starts recording new and the rest doesn't get saved. How can I stop and save recordings?

I know we can trim videos in the ShareFactory and before uploading to Youtube but we should be able to record as low or much as we can than waiting for a 15 minute limit.

And still struggling at that.

well it's good that most people aren't having issues, but it just sucks (for people like me and thundercrack) to be on the sticky end of things, you know. sony definitely is hurting man, way more than microsoft. they've got deeper pockets so they can afford to give out all these deals. even with the playstation brand doing so well these days, sony is barely making any money. they better pray and hope that their momentum never drops, because honestly, i do not think the xbone is that far behind in sales.

and bro, i don't know why i have to keep repeating this to you but i'm saying only for q4, this holiday season, there aren't that many exclusive options on playstation. and i've also said like 3 times how I love lbp and that i'm gonna get it either way, but the average consumer probably does not see it as a blockbuster playstation franchise. unless however, lbp3 propels it into the best selling entry in the series, which is what iss was for the infamous series. so i don't why you're constantly saying there are options that i don't like.

and i think microsoft's doing well at catch up. they did outsell the ps4 for one week in september in europe. the standalone version of destiny sold better on xbone even though a lot of people probably got it for free. and halo's going to be a system seller, far more than lbp has been.
