The Official Punisher by Rick Remender / Punisher MAX thread

Punisher #12 Preview

The Punisher is dead, so who, or what, is the giant patchwork monster skulking through the tunnels under New York? And what do those strange armored Japanese hunters tracking him want? Criminals are no longer being killed; they are simply vanishing into thin air. Listen closely, you can hear their pleas far below the streets. Those forgotten by society have a new protector. The Legion of Monsters has found a new leader.

I can't wait to see Frankencastle go out there and kick some serious ass.

Frank vs undead Nazis....that is so f**king cooooool!

Hmm, the Kingpin arc is only 5 parts and not six....kinda weird. Usually the first arc to kick of a book is six parts.

I thought the second issue of the Punisher Max book was really good. Probably my favorite book right now. Cant say I'm as excited about the Frankencaslte story line. I'll stick with the book for now, but I'll have to see where the story goes to see for how long. The sad thing is I was really enjoying the marvel universe book up until the current story line took over.

I just can't make myself read this book. I can't believe they believed turning Frank into a zombie was a good idea. This is a horrible idea. But I won't be reading or buying it so I'll just wait for him to return to status quo. :)

I stopped after Frank got dismembered. Good story, too. But i have no interest in the Frankencastle thing at all. I mean, it' the 616 universe, and they do whacky **** all the time in there. And it's not like Marvel was gonna let Frank kill any villains worth killing(because who really feels satisfied when he kills some 10th rate villain?). So in a way, I can see how this might solve that problem: make the character interesting in a universe where he can't really do much. But there's nothing appealing about it at all. That is, unless Frank goes head to head with Dracula...i might pick it up if that happens. That would be interesting if done right. But for the meantime, i'll stick with the MAX title, which has been very good so far.

Read issue 12 of the Frankencastle storyline and I'm sad to say I'm still hating it. If they wanted to do something with the league of monsters they should have done it with someone other than Frank. There is nothing about this book that feels like the Punisher to me. I have to say the art in the book is very good, but there's a good chance this will be my last book in the Frankencastle series. Although I have to admit the pictures from the upcoming #15 with frank mowing down nazi zombis looks somewhat interesting. I just wish they would have used some other character than Frank for this storyline.

Not to change the subject, but since we don't have a punisher board anymore I figured I would throw it in here.

Anyone know what happened to The Punisher Archives site? ThePunisher.com? Went to check it out and the site is gone. Anyone know if Micro gave up running it?

Maybe Frankencastle killed his love for the character. I know it damn near destroyed my fanboyism. But Punisher Archives was hands-down the best Punisher site on the net and I'll be sad if it's gone... Either way, mad props to Micro. He/she is the oracle as far as Punisher knowledge goes.

Also, the new MAX one-shot was kind of "meh". It wasn't bad, and it was still galaxy's better than anything Remender writes, but it didn't really FEEL worth the $5 price tag. For $4 it would have been a little better. Anyway, I'm really feeling the new arc. I just wish we were getting issues 76, 77, and 78, NOT a new 1, 2, and 3. I just love being loyal to a title for six years and having my collection reset because some *****e was looking for a temporary sales boost.
I've always felt that MAX is the one true incarnation of the Punisher and I wish Marvel would have kept it shady regarding its continuity. "Kingpin" kind of puts that debate to rest and I, for one, wish it hadn't. MAX should be the in-continuity Punisher series and that Frankencastle garbage should have been an alternate-universe story. Would have made a hell of a lot more sense.

I'm liking the MAX stuff but I can't get down with Frankencastle. The idea just sounds so stupid. I loved the Daken/Punisher fight. Why can't Marvel just have the balls to kill him off? Or give him a clone body or have him magically restored?

Nope, Frankencastle has been fun. I can't believe that I'm reading two Punisher comics.

Same way with me. I just take it as a fun, cheesy, wacky story.

Why're they always pickin' on Man-Thing?

I had never heard of him until Punisher. I looked him up on Wiki, he's got a background in horror and sci-fi comics. Great choice by Marvel for this arc.

His art first drew me into Walking Dead. Charlie Adlard's art was a bit hard to adjust to for the first few issues since Moore set such a high standard, but as the series developed Adlard's art became the better choice.

Moore also did the last 3 issues of the most recent Ghost Rider series. They were the best illustrated issues since Jarv and Tex left for Moon Knight.

No idea unfortunatly - I guessed something was up due to all his ebay auctions but its a real shock for it just to disappear like that. A real shame losing the punisher board here was bad but losing thepunisher.com it just awful as it was hands down the best punisher site on the net. sad. :csad:
